Introduction

Yorick is a boss champ. He uses a shovel to pummel his opponents, he summons ghouls to do his bidding, and he plays a mean bass. He is a strong bruiser and with the right balance of health, mana, and AD he can bring a lot to his team. Aside from that, he can clone an ally or himself which essentially adds a team mate for a short time. Doing so on a right click hero will give you a lot of extra damage. And if that hero dies they will just get back up and keep fighting for a bit. This ult also counters Mordekaiser's (explained later). Remember, this is just how I play Yorick. If it doesn't work for you try something different. This game is all about personal preference. Guides can only give you a direction to follow, not a guaranteed win.

"Live bodies are so fragile."
- Yorick, The Gravedigger

TL-DR Version

Yorick. AD. Ghouls. Shovel.

Runes

Greater Mark of Attack Damage: Attack Damage. Better Ghouls.

Greater Seal of Armor: Armour. Keep you in your lane a bit longer, especially with the bonus healing from your ghoul.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: Magic Resist. Bit more survivability.

Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage: Attack Damage: Yorick is an AD champ, more AD makes his Omen of Famine and Omen of War hit a lot harder

Summoner Spells

Flash: Running, always good. Chase, also good. Flash is pretty standard for most champs.

Exhaust: Slow your enemy down some more. Gross in 3's.

Alternates:

Ghost: Good for running, up to you. I feel flash is better for getting away.

Ignite: Cool guys don't look at explosions. Cooler guys just light people on fire as they walk away.

Shovel Sequence

Unholy Covenant The more ghouls out the better. You will need to keep casting them anyways to stack your Tear of the Goddess

Omen of War: Last thing to max out. This gives you a speed boost to help chase. It does eventually start hitting like a truck, but the sustain and slow are what you're really after early.

Omen of Pestilence: Good AOE. Helps slow down your enemy and lets your team give chase and get that kill. Maxed out second, good for a chase.

Omen of Famine: Keeps Yorick alive. It also lets you deal more damage with your silly little ghoul. Points to this first, keep yourself alive and sustain a bit longer. Max it FIRST.

Omen of Death: Pop this on your highest dps ally so you get 2 of them! And if they die, they come back to finish the fight! Or if you are worried about yourself, put it on yourself and help your team out. If a champion has Mordes ultimate on them and are about to die, quickly throw yours onto the same champion and watch them be resurrected on your team while Mordes ult burns down an already dead person.

Alternatives:

You could put points into Omen of Pestilence first to get the AOE and help you farm up some minions and get yourself some gold and exp. I would still suggest leaving Omen of War for last.

Items, Buy order, and the science of hats.

Doran's Shield: Solid early buy. Eventually you will need to sell it, but until then its dandy.

Boots: Good early buy as well, pretty standard.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity: CDR. If you aren't facing a stun heavy team grab these and ghoul the night away.

Mercury's Treads: If you ARE facing a stun heavy team. Keep yourself mobile with these.

Boot Enchant: I don't really know. I feel these are a personal choice. I usually take Alacrity.

Tear of the Goddess: Mana, stacks on ability casts, mana regen. All good on Yorick, you're always casting ghouls for the bonus of Unholy Covenant.

Kindlegem/ Spirit Visage: Magic resist, health, CDR and a little bonus. The passive on this will make Yorick's Omen of Famine that much better.

Manamune/ Muramana: Frogs best weapon... Oops I was thinking Masamune. Similar benefits to Tear, except when its fully stacked you get additional AD based on your mana. Pretty good.

Phage: Health, AD. Not much to say. The utility behind this item is also useful for chases.

Sheen: Come on bro, I've got tiger blood. Although you aren't using a lot of ability power, the utility behind this item is great since you are always casting ghouls. Plus, the additional mana will help with Muramana.

Trinity Force: Defeat Gannon and save Hyrule. Every stat bonus from this will help Yorick out. Even the attack speed. He is a bruiser so a little bit of this doesn't hurt.. him at least.

Overlord's Bloodmail: More HP means you live longer. Plus, you will more than likely always be assisting (if not getting) kills.

Atma's Impaler: Armour, crit and damage based on your HP. Can never hurt.

How I Play (3's)

Yorick is a bruiser. You can solo a lane, support your bottom, or spend some time in the beautiful jungles of the Shadow Isle. He is very versatile. Farm up money, buy your items, support your team.

Engages: When you're engaging don't be afraid to get in there, sure you might die, but if the other team has any sense they will focus your heaviest hitter. That's just fine for you, pop Omen of Death on them, have 2 and when they die, watch them come back and clean up the mess they made. If someone tries to run from you, hit them with Omen of Pestilence and slow their roll. Then smack 'em with Omen of War to chase them with the speed boost.

Towers: They sting a bit. Drop an Omen of Pestilence on them for a little boost in damage.

How I Don't Play

    I don't engage alone.
I don't get out of place.
I don't burn my ult for nothing.
I don't take my hat off.

Lane Buddies

Everybody hold hands while we cross the lane.

Mordekaiser
Not just the lead guitarist for Pentakill. When Yorick and Mordekaiser are laning together its basically 4v2. Mordekaiser ults on an enemy, you ult on an ally, suddenly you have more friends than you ever thought possible!

Tryndamere
A right click hero. Crazy crit and AS. Use your Omen of Death on him and beat stuff up.

Summary

Yorick can be played almost anywhere with the right build. This guide is primarily for 3's right now as that is where I mostly play him. At some point there will be a 5's guide appended to this.

If you enjoyed my guide, post some results in the comments and I will append them to the results section.
