Not Updated For Current Season
Hi, today I'm going to show you guys my Zed guide. Zeddy - Name of the Shadow. It might sucks or might be cool, what do you think? Leave in the comment below.
Well, my friend is start learning how to play Zed. So I think making this guide would help out my friends and some fellows out there. Warning, this might not be the best guide, it's just my personal prefer.
Who Am I?
Unskilled low elo players. But doesn't mean low division player are worst. So stick around to my guide. :D
Pros / Cons
Strong at 1v1
Easy CS because passive
Require high mechanics
Weak against someone who build against him
Ultimate can be cancel
Can't really do anything without ultimate
Can't think of any others
Passive - So attacking a target that's below 50% health deal bonus magic damage depends on target's maximum health. So this is a good hybrid skills as it does alot of magic damage if your target is a tank.
Q - Just simply a skillshot go through stuff. But if Razor Shuriken hit a champion directly, it would hurt alot. Try to spam it in early. The first shuriken does 100% but all of the shuriken comes after only does 50%.
W - You place a shadow, it remains for 4 second. It does whatever you do even laughing, throw Razor Shuriken and use Shadow Slash and you use it. Retap Living Shadow again to swap position with the shadow you just place. This skills is a good gap closer or escape.
E - You spin your body like a top. Does AoE damage around you. Keep in your mind that only your Living Shadow Shadow Slash will slow your opponent but you doesn't. If your opponent get hit by 2 Shadow Slash, they will not take damage temporary.
R - You teleport to your opponent back, leave a shadow at your current position before. The Death Mark will be on your target for 3 seconds. While Death Mark is still on your target. Any damage (AD + AP) that Zed does on the target will make the Death Mark stronger. After 3 seconds, the mark will does damage to target equal to 50% damage in total Zed does in those 3 seconds. You can also retap Death Mark to swap position with your shadow that you place at your original place.
For Flash, most of the time, you'll need it. There's just so much things that flash can do like go over wall, chasing down opponent, escape away or even make your skills more effective. So take flash with you most of the times.
Ignite, a good spells for any carry position in your team. Just decrease your opponent healing effect and reveal them.
When you're farming top and your bot got gank? Just simply, tell your bot lane to ward somewhere near there and you Teleport to the ward that they just place. Teleport can also help you get much advantage in item leading and gold. Try to teleport on turret instead of others stuff when possible 'cause you'll get cooldown reduce if you cast it on turret.
Smite??? Why does this even exist on Zed mid lane guide? Well... there's so much things change when you use Smite instead of others skills. Just watch the video below. Credit belong to Redmercy.
If I have enough IP, I prefer 8 Greater Mark of Armor Penetration with 1 Greater Mark of Critical Chance. If you think it has really low percentage, it won't pop out everytime. But who knows? It might pop out like in this situation.
Well, this is the basic of the basic. 9 Greater Seal of Armor always work good on every champ or most of every champ. It can also help you burst on early.
I prefer 3 Greater Glyph of Magic Resist and 6 Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction. I just like 3 MR for going against AP and 6 CDR really good for spamming your Razor Shuriken.
Most of champions that use AD as their main damage, they usually chose Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage as their 3 quint. Zed doesn't need much attack speed (except backdoor) and his skills scale really, not so high, but still high enough.
So which one do I start with? Well for me, I prefer Long Sword when going against most of AP. I don't buy Doran's Blade alot but it give you 7% lifesteal which help you stay in lane longer. In my opinion, I love buying Doran's Shield as starting item. It give you health and health rengen and block 8 damage from each normal attack.
I don't know that to name the Title
So "most" of the time, you wanna get The Brutalizer first since it's cheap and good stats given. The Brutalizer is only 1337 gold (weird number), and it gives 10% CDR with 10 Armor Pen which is pretty good, so you want to get it first. After The Brutalizer you can either get a sustain item or item with good passive. Usually for sustain item, you can get Ravenous Hydra or Blade of the Ruined King. For the other one, you can get Last Whisper, The Black Cleaver, or Youmuu's Ghostblade. You can also get Maw of Malmortius if the other team has heavy AP.
So up there, I put 3 item as lifesteal which is Blade of the Ruined King, The Bloodthirster, and Ravenous Hydra. When the other team doesn't build much tank, I usually take 3 item. I just want "insta-heal" attack. If you doesn't like it, you can take 1 or 2. If it was me, I usually build Ravenous Hydra after The Brutalizer like I talk up there because it gives good minion wave clear which help you farm faster. More CS equal more money.
There's alot of choice for defensive item. You can build Frozen Mallet either if you feel like you need more health. Beside that, I build Guardian Angel if they have spells that does damage depend on health percentage. Banshee's Veil also pretty good against CC or some spell that does tons of damage in one shot. Like I said up there, Maw of Malmortius could be good to go against some heavy AP.
Armor pen on Zed usually are Last Whisper, Youmuu's Ghostblade, and The Black Cleaver. But Last Whisper isn't really have armor pen, it just ignore the armor. If your opponent are "not too tanky" then get Youmuu's Ghostblade because it give +20 Armor Pen. If your opponent are going full tank like no damage item, then get The Black Cleaver. The Black Cleaver only gives you +10 Armor Pen and reduce 5% of opponent armor.
So when you keep getting harass by your opponent. You can farm form the far with your skills. Since your passive, Contempt for the Weak, deal more damage when target is below 50% health. You can actually CS really easy under tower.
If you doesn't know when to hit the minion. Then I'll show you. For the one melee one, the turret will shot it twice and you auto attack once. For the mage minion(ranged one), one shot of turret is enough. For the cannon, you wait when it's time, auto attack it. And if he still got some little health left, don't afraid and use your Shadow Slash or Razor Shuriken to finish it before the turret got the CS.
Winning in Teamfight
So you need to save your Death Mark for the one who's carrying their team. So after you use your ultimate and your Living Shadow, you can help your team by throwing Razor Shuriken around or use Shadow Slash. I don't know what to say much here.
Losing in Teamfight
If you're losing in teamfight, use your Death Mark as last stand. After using it, you can either outplayed the rest or run away. Well, if you're running away, just remember to slow them down with your Living Shadow Shadow Slash. You can also juke with your skill to help you run away better.
If your team keep losing in teamfights, then start splitpushing, and let your team know so they can distract the enemy team. If everyone is fighting at the baron, try to push at bot lane 'cause it's like a hundreds miles away. Same thing when everyone is at dragon, you go push top lane. Just remember to ward around.
When you're at their nexus and you have full skills ready to use and the nexus is half way down. Then don't be afraid and "xPeke". You can learn from this video below. This video is uploaded by Owy.
Well I think I cover overall about Zed. This guide is not even done yet. If I miss something? Please comment :).
