Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Ali can punish you for being ahead of the minion wave and can keep you from really interupting his ADC's farming like you want to
Annie
due to the fact that we arent running any MR in our runes and masteries any AP support is going to make our life really hard.
Ashe
Due to her passive and her slow Ashe can actually do a little more damage than a lot of other ADC's you will go against early. Otherwise she is pretty easy
Blitzcrank
If he hooks you his ADC wont be able to do a lot to you, just walk away. If he land a hook on your ADC stun his ADC and walk away. He makes it hard to stand on the other side of the minion wave like you want to causing you to play the lane more traditionally.
Braum
Braum's passive makes your zoning really tough. You can win this lane by playing more traditionally and chosing when to take your fights.
Caitlyn
Due to her range it makes keeping her off minions tough and doesnt allow your ADC to follow up on your Dazzle very well. use bushes to your advantage and play the lane more traditionally
Corki
For this build, you ideally dont want to face a corki, his mixed damage combined with his true damage really hurt you in lane. On top of that he isnt as auto attack reliant so your thornmail and Frozen heart arent as effective.
Draven
Draven can get out of hand but telegraphs his positioning, you can make him miss his axes. Be careful not to take too much damage from him.
Ezreal
Ezreal's mixed damage and mobility make the lane tough for Taric. Like Corki you dont really want to play into an ezreal lane, but you can survive it.
Graves
Due to where you want to position it can be easy for Graves to hit you with multiple bullets from buckshot which hurts. You should wait for buckshot to go on cd then run at him and try to zone him until his buckshot comes off cd.
Janna
Janna makes it hard to really harrass her ADC but she isnt really gonna be a big problem for you in lane.
Jinx
Zap and Chompers along with her attack speed from Q make Jinx able to do a lot of damage to you early. The sooner you can get your thornmail the better in this matchup.
Kalista
Rend makes this matchup nearly impossible to play the way you want to. Your targeted stun can really hurt Kalista's mobility. You want to play this lane more passive.
Karma
AP supports really hurt since we arent running any Mr in this build. Its possible to win the lane but dodging Karma's abilities is a must and you have to win the lane early.
Lucian
His mobility and double shot passive kinda hurt, but he isnt a huge issue. You want to play more traditionally in this matchup due to his Combo but play aggressive.
Lulu
Lulu is another AP support which makes your lane tough and she offers a ton of utility in lane and will make it hard to get a kill in lane. Play the lane to survive laning phase and focus on peeling in team fights.
Leona
When leona uses Zenith blade, stun her ADC. You have to play this lane as a peel bot for your ADC, but its simple.
Miss Fortune
Pretty simple matchup. Try not to stand too close to your ADC when you know she wants to double shot and run at her to try to bait it out on you.
Morgana
AP supports really hurt due to your lack of MR in your build. if you can dodge her binding this lane becomes 100 times easier. Try to bait black sheild out by running at your lane opponent and force your engagements when its down.
Nami
Nami's trading potential is higher than yours. Play more traditionally and she has to be the kill focus of your lane.
Quinn
Due to Valor passive, you want to play more traditionally. Quinn wants to be a lane bully. use her aggression against her.
Sivir
One of your easiest matchups you can play into. Her spell sheild can be annoying so you may want to focus her support unless you can bait out the spell sheild.
Sona
Sona's burst makes this lane a nightmare. You have to play this lane passive and focus her when you do engage a fight.
Soraka
While Soraka is AP, she isnt a damage threat. Focus her when you fight to keep her from healing her ADC to full.
Thresh
If thresh hooks you stun him if he pulls himself out of position and punish him. If he hooks your ADC stun his adc and force him away while your ADC focuses on thresh.
Tristana
With the rework, you have to play traditionally and not let her stack her bomb on you. Pick your engagements. likely feeding on the support.
Twitch
As long as you dont get ambushed this lane isnt too hard. make sure you know where Twitch is and zone him.
Varus
If you can dodge his Q this lane isnt too hard
Vayne
This matchup can go either way. You really want to shut her down early if not this lane can go sideways fast.
Zyra
AP burst supports really hurt your laning phase. if you have to play into this lane make sure you dodge her roots and focus her in lane.
This guide is to cover the playstyle that I like to play when I play Taric. The build can be altered a little bit to make it fit the team better but this is the general build i prefer. The basic concept of this build is to have a ton of armor early and just run at the ADC and try to push him off the minion wave and put him behind in CS.
Runes
Runes
For this Build i run full armor runes to take advantage of shatter passive with my ADC. I have another rune page that i run if i play Taric into a more poke heavy AP support, but usually a different support is a better choice in those scenarios.
Pros / Cons
Pros / Cons
Pros
Massively tanky
Good at zoning
Armor shred
Armor Aura
Good peel
Not mana hungry
easy mechanically
Massive aura ult
Cons
Immobile
weak against AP damage early
loses armor aura when Shatter is on cd
Somewhat weak heal
can be zoned in a losing lane
Dont have a lot of roam pressure
Team Work
Team Work
As Taric in a team fight you want to try to hit as many people as you can with your shatter, then ult. after that you want to fall back to your carries and stun anyone who tries to jump on top of them. Remember to auto attack after every spell to reduce your cooldowns so that you can have shatter and stun available when you need them.
