I don't know anything of speedfan, but did you have a look at this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OkBRELqEgM ?

Sorry for the double post, but I've started having an actual problem. I'm not really sure this is the place to post it, but posting on the Skype boards hasn't even gotten a response, let alone help. I've been having some issues with video calls causing my laptop to freeze. As long as my webcam is not being used by Skype, I can be in a call for extended periods of time with no issues. If I turn my video on, however, it will eventually completely freeze my laptop and I will have to force shutdown by holding the power button. I'm pretty certain this is a Skype specific problem (other things using my webcam don't cause any issues).
The only other thing I can seem to find is that Kernel-Processor-Power might be giving me event ID 37 when the crashes are happening, maybe. I didn't note the exact time of the last crashes in reference to the errors, but some of them to be close to the same time.
Not sure if this matters, but here's what realtemp says the temp is

Temp should be irrelevant. Are you sure you don't have this issue with other programs? Try just setting up a recording program that records the webcam and just have it running in the background for a while to test if it could cause a crash.

Really I just want to know if anyone is familiar with the settings for this program and can help me optimize it more than I have right now lol.

Those seem like solid temps. They don't seem like they need much optimization. But if you really want to get into the nitty gritty just make some changes to the temperature graphs as shown in the video. Although I'd recommend focusing on the CPU and GPU.
When it comes to case fans just use speed(/voltage) adapters to optimize airflow. Try to have the same amount of air exhausted as is drawn in.

I believe I've stumbled upon a masterpiece of a CPU cooler: Scythe Kotetsu.
This baby has the same cooling per sound-level as the best and largest air-coolers on the market, while occupying about half the space and weighing about half as much. (price is also roughly half in most regions)
Apparently Scythe is doing something really clever with their base-plate; it's not completely flat, focusing on perfect contact with the center rather than trying to have good contact with the entire surface.
I recently got mine and it's exceeding all my expectations. My 4670K is now constantly at maximum boost frequency (3.8GHz) and it struggles to pass even 40C. Only in synthetic stress-tests have I been able to reach a few degrees above 40C so far (using the CPUTIN sensor, the sensor that SpeedFan uses for CPU).

Well, turned out to be a known issue with the newest version of Skype and a recent Windows 10 update (thanks Obama). I contacted Skype support (after receiving no help on their forums) and they had me install an earlier version of Skype, which fixed the issue. I'm hoping they go ahead and actually fix the issue with subsequent updates though, because right now I must host all group calls I'm in (it won't let me join calls made by anyone with a newer version of Skype) and that can cause issues when I'm trying to do certain things.

I don't know that cooler, but I currently use a Scythe Fuma (40€) and it outperforms even the best Noctua coolers. Scythe definitely is king of performance-to-euro coolers, but apparently they're not widely available in NA. My old i5 2500k runs at 4.2 at max 62 degrees under heavy sustained load, running minimum fan speeds.

Scythe Fuma benchmark
Well that's an outright lie. You forgot the asterisk pointing out that it only outperforms them in a very specific scenario.
Instead of cherry-picking the information you present, how about just linking the entire review? (like I did) That way we can see all the details regarding the specific scenario in which it outperforms the competition.
I found the review; here's the link for anybody else interested:
http://us.hardware.info/reviews/6415/3/scythe-fuma--grand-kama-cross-3-review-new-scythe-cpu-coolers-test-results-coolingnat-30-dba-onn10-cm
It's roughly equal to Noctua NH-U14S and NH-D15 at 40dBA, but it gets outperformed by 1-2 degrees in the 30dBA test. I.e: it's slightly worse at low noise levels.
Sure, it has much better performance per money and definitely looks like a great purchase, but don't kid yourself into thinking that it performs better.

Well in my usage it DOES perform better, but yeah it is an obvious cherry-pick: I honestly don't bother with nuances like this just to get my point across. That does not make it a lie though, because it still scores top in two different benchmarks.
Vynertje wrote:

Er.. No. You'd actually be better with one of the Noctua coolers. You said you're running yours on minimum speed, and the test showed that the Noctua coolers were better at lower noise levels.
But it's a tiny difference and if they are more expensive then cost is a perfectly legitimate reason to pick it over them.

Does anyone know anything about speedfan?
I get the general premise, but I'm unsure of whether the temp I usually am getting is good, or what else I can do. I usually want my rig to be cool but still quiet. The settings I have now SEEM to be working reasonably well at both of those, but I seem to get some weird ones too.
Ideally this is where I want it to be most of the time, assuming that won't put to much load on my PC or whatever.
Really I just want to know if anyone is familiar with the settings for this program and can help me optimize it more than I have right now lol.
This is also running PoE at the same time, although that's not a very hard game to run.
Here's my temps after actually playing, rather than standing around.
