I think it's smarter to not just take flex q rank into account at all (sorry Ferret ;-;), at least not while the queue is in as bad a state as it is right now.[/quote]

Flex Queue is mostly a joke, it sounds like its worse on non EUW Regions, but it’s still stupid nonetheless overall and being Flex in Challenger definitely isn’t bragging rights and it doesn’t mean you’re a Challenger player by any means. I’d go as far as to say that AT BEST, I might be a Master Tier player, but I don’t think I’m good enough to be Challenger in Solo Queue. Most of my friends aren’t as highly ranked as me, and I can’t duo with them in Solo Q because of that, so when Season 7 started I just played a bunch of Flex with them. After only a few days I was D3, and I skipped promo from D3 to D1 and so was like fuck it I’m here already might as well get Challenger, then focus on Solo Q. Once I got D1 in Flex I also only solo’d from then onwards. I’m the type of guy that doesn’t like to leave things half done, and since I was already so close I thought why not. The fact that I knew I could get Challenger in Flex also says a lot, because as I said, I probably wouldn’t be able to get Challenger in Solo Q, especially when you consider that I don’t always get Ahri. For me it was actually a challenge getting Challenger because my MMR got destroyed when I first hit D1 (two 5 loss streaks while at 0 LP) and so my LP gains were +15/16 -17/18. Now I don’t know if anyone has experienced trying to climb with LP gains like that, but it aint easy. When I actually got Challenger, I didn’t even feel that satisfied. I felt more satisfied getting D1 back in Season 5 than I did getting Challenger in Flex, because I know that it doesn’t mean all that much. Still, it was pretty cool I guess. I think H4x is being a bit OTT saying that Flex Chall “is probably the equivalent of platinum/d5 in BIG western regions (na/euw)” especially after I actually went through every Flex Challenger player to see what their Solo Ranks are. This is what I found: The Top 10 players’ Solo Q Ranks on Flex EUW are currently: D1 100 LP D4 82 LP D1 30 LP Master 55 LP D1 38 LP D3 100 LP D2 64 LP Master 232 LP D2 91 LP Master 294 LP There’s actually a very large portion of players that are Masters, D1, or were Master in Season 6, probably even over half of the players. I found 1 person that wasn’t Diamond, or ex Diamond that was a smurf, and I found 2 people who were neither Diamond, ex Diamond or a smurf. Oh and there was this one guy who was a D5 Janna main, so basically Silver at best player. Now I can only comment on EUW, but maybe EUW has the most competitive Flex? I’m not sure, but the majority of Challenger Flex players on EUW are either current Master/Challenger/D1 in Solo, or ex Master/Challenger/D1 in Solo Q. You’d think that might give it some legitimacy? Still no. The fact of the matter is that Flex is fucked solely because of the matchmaking, and it’s as simple as that. If my Flex games put me vs other Flex Challengers, or high Diamond Flex players, then most games will be filled with high Diamond/Master players. This just isn’t possible though because of the lower player base, and the already ridiculous Q times. I’m still being matched with and against people that are PLAT in Flex, which is just ridiculous. The fluctuation in ranks with each game is laughable honestly, it’s very entertaining! If Flex was around from the start like Solo/Duo Queue, then this problem likely wouldn’t exist. Maybe Riot should have used Solo MMR when matchmaking in Flex, I dunno, but it’s too late now.
