Upcoming Ahri nerf in Draven's patch

Alright dude, I'll just leave this post B1ack0mega put on Reddit saying how Ahri is still good damage wise on the current PBE patch with numbers. It has calculations that explain scaling and items. I skimmed over it to double check and it looks fine for the most part. You look and think about it for yourself because you're only looking at these nerfs from an Ahri player's perspective.

From a player that isn't Ahri in the game, she's so strong in lane and bullies extremely easy. Her roaming potential is one of the strongest in the game because of Spirit Rush and you often see her go join her jungler in four man gank bots because of her incredible damage early game and that's what is being tuned down in the PBE patch. Regarding mana costs, she is a mana reliant champion but blue buff makes the laning phase easier. Speaking about skill shots and wasting mana on Ahri, if you can't remotely lane skill shots, you should practice on other champions before playing a semi-high skill capped champion. Moving on to laning 1v1 mid and watching for ganks, her laning is strong enough with a huge mobile mechanic for aggression or defense while having a CC like Charm and harass for days. Regarding late game, if the game is somewhat close and the enemy team is competent, she falls off so hard compared to the AP champions I said above like Karthus, Ryze, Cassio, etc. I unno dude, I'll just leave it there. I'm tellin ya, it's not a nerf but if you wanna believe that, go ahead I guess lol.

My math say a little less dmg early and mid game a bit more dmg late game 25~ more dmg on each spell.

Because the Hecarim patch pretty much buffed everyone else, and Ahri was left unbuffed. I am not usually a person to discuss about nerfs or buffs, but this nerf to Ahri is ridiculously stupid.

People say its a late game buff in disguise, I have my reasons to disagree.

But that aside, how many of you are against the nerf ?


Her ultimate has received a 17% buff in scaling with respect to only a 8% nerf in base damage for each flame. This is obviously an overall buff to her ulti in the late game, while being a minor early game nerf. (toning down her insane gank strength just a little which I think is fair)

Her W is a straight nerf. The scaling gets increased by 7% while the base damage is brought down 13%. Considering that she is one of the top competitive picks and priority bans this seems fair though. It's not really that much of a nerf tbh.

*note I rounded to whole numbers in every case.

I disagree with how people say you shouldn't play Ahri if you can't land skillshots. Ahri is not defined by skillshots ONLY. But I will say this much, the fact that RIOT nerfs her, is pretty much encouraging us to play Ahri the path of a skillshooter. And I stand by my opinion that skillshots are very very unreliable, even good players won't land all skillshots in a game at all times. Reason being Ahri's projectile speed travels slowly, and players can juke or flash away, (A miss is still a miss), etc etc.

That aside, I saw the pdf file, thanks for the calculation. Despite the closure, it doesn't seem as much comforting as it is to me. 800 AP is a very very occasion AP IMO, and judging from the author's recommendation of items, it means we no longer have space to chunk in any low AP-granting items such WoTA to give her sustainability.

Does anyone know how to reach guy outside of the NA forums, I've been trying to register for an NA account since early Jan just to get in to their forums, but it didnt work (probably because they detected that I'm from the Asian region -___________-). I would love to consult the guy though.

Just to add on a bit, I would have to disagree she's mobile. She's nothing but a turtle without her ulti imho. The CD and cooldown in between each dashes is not making her mobile.

That aside, Xiaoli, its an honor to have your replies in my post <3. I read your top rating guides, they motivated me to pick up some champs that I normally wouldn't. I like you, JhoiJhoi and LaCorpse <3. Now it seems like LaCorpse has to write a new top rating Ahri guide if Riot still insist on nerfing her.

I don't get why people talk about 800 ap? She breaks even on W at 800, but onn R it's around 300. So after like 400 or 500 your increased damage from R nulls the lost from W and thus after that you are stronger than you were before on the full combo...

My brother is going to be pissed. We think Riot targets him with their nerfs, no lie. He is one of those people that believes the early game completely determines the rest of the game. True to an extent.

As a Ahri player, but also as a player who 2/3 times of the game lanes against her. Justified, she is just the Leblanc Incarnate only with a better late-game (which is 'just not enough compared to others).

Her Q skill is her bread and butter, it does the most dps, can farm better and is exactly more reliable then W skill (as example) because your W skill auto-target units so it could happen they shoot at people you don't want to hit. Every champ has a bread and butter skill, offcourse there are many ways to build a champ skill and build wise, but it always come down to 1 skill in your kit which defines the mechanics of your champ. Just think about it can you remove poison trail from Singed? Or Riven's Q spell? Well still give the champ the same feeling of how to play him?

I've played some games with Ahri (just because I've heard this kind of statements) and imho, she doesn't feel like LeBlanc at all. She is much more limited in mobility, she doesn't have a serious disable ability, unlike LeBlanc and her damage isn't as fast. I feel she's more of an AoE DPS mage.
But her lategame is surely better then LB's.


On topic: reasoned nerf to early game. Don't see a reason to complain. Want to deal damage - build damage items, damn it.
Want to see an in-depth diamond level LeBlanc guide? Come by and check this ;) It's written by Baekstra who is a Diamond LeBlanc main on EUW and being one myself, I can vouch for it 100%!
