Last Community Spotlight we heard the thoughts of PsiGuard, one of MOBAfire's great guidewriters and a truly guarding moderator. This time however, we interview a man that did many things for Mobafire backstage. He fixed and updated databases for Mobafire continuously and didn't ask anything back for it, not even a badge.

This time however, he got himself a badge, the title of SUPER editor and now also an interview: IceCreamy! I asked this super editor a few questions and I will present to you what those answers were, here we go:

1. Why did you join MOBAfire?

  • I started playing LoL around February 2011, and it was only until after I searched for some guides I found MOBAFire. I also found other websites, but MOBAFire's somehow appealed to me most. Can't say I have any regrets :)
I made a MOBAFire account on the 14th of August 2011, but I think I've been lurking since March 2011. I was a total noob and I desperately needed the guides!

2. How did MOBAFire improve your League of Legends experience?

  • The guides on MOBAFire have really helped me improve my in game skill from complete noob to somewhat decent player. Besides that I've made some friends here, but I'll admit I've neglected them for a bit...

3. Do you remember any of your favorite guides from back then? Why did you like them or find them helpful?

  • I actually don't remember any, I just looked at the top guides and copied that build lol :D Hint for guide makers, this one ;)

4. What keeps you coming back and motivates you to do so many database updates?

  • Why do I make so many Database updates... I remember starting to do that during some boring classes in the morning. I'm a perfectionist, if something isn't correct I get annoyed by it and then I fix it. Besides that, helping people out makes me feel good. I know many people consider Database editing a boring and ungrateful job, as almost no one will know you did it - I have no issues with being in the background.

5. In addition to keeping the Database up to snuff, you've also made 2 very helpful General guides. What motivated you to make these guides?

  • It's quite simple - I remember I struggled a lot back when I started, and I would have benefitted a lot from my guide for new LoL players. The same goes for the column guide and guide making, though that one needs (and will get) some rehauling.

6. What are you looking forward to on MOBAFire?

  • I'm actually looking forward to becoming better at LoL, so I can go back to guide writing. I have some knowledge of BBCoding, but at the moment I don't feel like my skill is good enough to teach other people how to play a champion, for example.

I'm also curious about the site's future projects - some aspects of the site are in a bit of a slump (I'm looking at you, Scouting) and I'm really looking forward to helping create a great system for everyone.

7. Can you tell us about your journey with League of Legends? What was the experience like when you started, and what is it like now?

  • I started playing LoL in February 2011 I think, a classmate (and now still a friend) told me to try it. I was like: "Why not, it's free, if it sucks I can just uninstall it" and the rest is history. I had no previous experience with a similar game, so needless to say I was an epic noob - I used to memorize how I first found a cool item, instead of just reading the descriptions and properly using the shops options. I thought Smite was OP, until I found out you couldn't use it on champions. Meanwhile I built AP on every champion, because I thought it would help making my abilities stronger. It was glorious fun playing Caitlyn, I'll tell ya that.

In S2 I started playing ranked, got into gold and haven't left it since. I think if I try hard I can make it to platinum though :). Right now I'm on an internship, and I barely have time to play. I usually play a bot game for the first win bonus, except for maybe in the weekends. Once my internship is over (in July somewhere) I suppose I'll get to playing ranked again.

8. Being so rusty, what is your plan of attack for ranked? Do you find LoL to be like riding a bike, or is it difficult for you to readjust?

  • I still play every day to get first win bonus for when I get back, just to be able to adjust to rune/mastery/meta changes. This way I also keep up with the playstyles, so I'm pretty sure I'll hit platinum not long after I start playing ranked again.

9. How do you feel about the changes Riot has made to the game since you first started playing? Is there any particular change that you felt most benefited the game experience?

  • As a support main I really have to say I love the changes to support's gold generation, and to the different support picks that are now viable. I remember in Season 2 you basically had Sona, Janna, Nami and Lulu as viable picks but since then I've seen Fiddlesticks, Elise and Annie pass by alongside the currently popular Thresh and Leona.

I kinda dislike the changes to the ward system, I absolutely loved warding the entire map :D

10. What’s a memorable moment you had playing League of Legends?

  • My most memorable moment? I most definitely have to go with playing against famous LoL people. I've played against Guardsman Bob with some MOBAFire guys back in 2012! http://i.imgur.com/4RkwCRC.gif
I've also played some ARAMs with/against Deman, Quickshot and Sjokz :)

11. When do you have the most fun playing League of Legends?

  • As with almost anything, it's most fun to do with friends. There's nothing more awesome than just laughing at each other for failing hard, or complimenting each other with a great play.

12. What kind of music are you into? Any kind of band or specific genre?

  • I listen to a bunch of different music. I actually can listen to metal and rock just as well as hardstyle and house, I'm good to go as long as there's a nice beat in there - I'm not into ballads usually.

Examples would be Halestorm, Delain, Amaranthe and Within Temptation on the rock/metal side but also Showtek and numerous other artists.

13. What is your top 3 favorite games at the moment and why?

  • I'm just going to assume LoL is not part of this. Top 3 games have to be:

    - Suikoden I & II - games for PS1, absolutely awesome RPGs!
    - Minesweeper - It's so easy yet so difficult, and I absolutely love logics. My best score at the Expert level is 80 seconds :)
    - Pokemon - I only play on GBA, nice and old school :) Particularly I play outside in the summer, to get a bit of a tan xD

14. Are there any other hobbies you enjoy besides gaming?

  • I absolutely love cycling. If the weather is good enough I'll try to bike about 60 km. I also participate in a yearly bike tour, which takes 4 days and you can pick whichever amount of km you like (25, 40, 60 or 100 per day). I love being outside and going to places I've never been before :)

I also play contract bridge, which is a card game. It's played with 4 people and 1 stock of cards at a table. It's 2 vs 2, and my partner is almost 60 years older than I am xD The average age of the club I play at is 70, lol. I've also played on an international level, but it isn't my ambition to become exceptionally good at it - I play for fun.

15. If we ever want to meet you personally in the future, at what company can we find you?

  • Oof, tough question! It's really hard to tell, since I don't really know what I want to do. I currently study Software Engineering, so I assume I'm going to be doing something with computers. I like logics! I can't tell at what kind of company it will be, I hope it will be a big international company where I get to travel across the world and meet lots of awesome people!

That was this months interview everyone. Next month we will have a new spotlight with another member and maybe even done by another member. Who it will be, I am afraid that that is a mystery... for now.

If you wish to look at some of the past interviews, there is a nice overview made within the spoiler below. For this interview, I want to thank IceCreamy for taking your time answering questions and of course for all the help done so far. And of course, thank YOU for reading :D

since when have you been mowie banban?

nice interview though :p Chris (isn't that your name? I've seen it somewhere and that came into my mind first) isn't actively doing anything on the public parts of Mobafire but he certainly does do that stuff that most editors hate. We could call him the Private Part Expert.

Thanks to OwenTheAwesomer for the signature =)
