PROS

Strong Passive
Has Comeback Mechanics
Strong Teamfighter
Strong Scaling

Miss Fortune has been a pretty popular pick in both pro play and soloq, even though now she has faded away a little in the current meta but I believe she will be back very soon. I think she is an excellent pick mainly due to her comeback mechanics; her Ultimate, if you are able to get a good ultimate off, either hitting multiple enemy members with it or combining it with some of your teammates ultimate/engage like Leona's R or Amumu's R you are able to easily win the teamfight, even when you are super behind in gold, items and lack any real damage. Another strong point about Miss Fortune is her W Passive, this is in my opinion actually pretty broken, it is essentially like free mobility boots, giving you insane out of combat movement speed.
CONS

- Has Difficult Matchups
- No Hard Escape
- Squishy
- Weak Vs All-In

Unfortunately, similar to all strong teamfighting champions, Miss Fortune is very susceptible to all-in champions/match-ups like Tristana, Lucian, Draven etc, this struggle will amplify even more when you also have a losing support match-up, meaning you will have to stay under tower pretty much throughout the entire game, trying to CS under tower which may make you lose a lot of CS if done incorrectly. Not only this, they will have very high kill threat even when you are under tower, if you have a Lulu support up against a Tristana Nautilus lane, you can say bye bye to any chance of killing them in lane, and have to remain in fear at all times that if they land a hook on you under tower, they can actually easily kill you, so do not get complacent just because you are under tower.

Why Miss Fortune ?

I think Miss Fortune is a pretty good champion to pick up especially if you are new to the marksman role, since her overall kit is very simple to understand, even if you are somebody who has been playing a lot of other marksman, you may want to consider switching over to Miss Fortune if you want to work on your macro/gamesense, because you will no longer focus on how to perform certain actions with your abilities but think more about general gamesense instead due to the simplistic nature of her kit. One good ultimate and you are back into the game no matter how behind you are.

When to pick Miss Fortune ?

Firstly, we should try to avoid picking Miss Fortune blind as we can easily get counter picked, which will end up giving us a very hard time, we also do not want to pick her against an enemy team that has multiple ways to disrupt our ultimate, it is okay if it is only one, but multiple ways to disrupt us will make our lives really difficult, things like Alistar Combo, Nautilus's R, Malphite's R etc. You want to pair her with something that has strong consistent CC, something like Amumu's R, Leona's R, very strong AOE CC which will complement Miss Fortune's Ultimate very nicely.

  • Press the Attack: This has a very good synergy with both our Passive and Q Ability. Doing the AA + Q + AA to proc our passive and the PTA will allow us to deal massive damage at all stages of the game and potentially solo kill our opponenets.
  • Overheal: When playing as Miss Fortune, mana is never really a problem once you complete Essence Reaver as it will provide you mana back per autoattack, so there is no reason to go for any of the other rune over this one as this one will gives you the highest amount of value and protection.
  • Legend: Bloodline: This is by far the best out of the other 2 options, because it scales the best, providing the most value. We can have attack speed in our build but very rarely do we get to build life steal as an ADC(Unless you are really ahead). So it is very important to have some form of life steal to sustain during mid to late game.
  • Coup de Grace: This rune goes well with ADCs in general because this gives the most consistent damage in comparison to the other 2 options.

  • Nimbus Cloak: The extra movement speed whenever you use a summoners spell is massive, for example when you try to escape by flashing, sometimes the enemies can still catch up to you, but with nimbus cloak the extra movespeed you gain will ensure they do not catch up. Or when you are trying to flash forward to chase down enemies, it will ensure you secure the kill.
  • Gathering Storm: Guaranteed free AD and scaling when the game goes on for too logn which is particularly useful for ADCarry, late game is where ADCs shines the most. This will ensure you are always relevant once the game hit late.

PASSIVE ABILITY
Miss Fortune deals bonus physical damage whenever she attacks a new target. Deals half damage to minions. Damage: (+50 - 100% total)

Q
| Effect Radius: 500 | Cooldown: 7 / 6 / 5 / 4 / 3 | Cost: 43 / 46 / 49 / 52 / 55 MANA |
Miss Fortune fires a bouncing shot through an enemy, dealing physical damage to each. Both apply on-hit effects.
The second shot can critically strike for 200% damage, and it always critically strikes if the first shot kills its target.

Double Up is your main ability which you will try to use during laning phase to trade or poke against your opponents, especially when your opponent is right behind a dying minion, you can pop your Q on that dying minion which will usually then bounce onto them dealing extra damage.

W
| Cooldown: 12 | Cost: 30 MANA |
Passive: After 5 seconds of not taking direct damage, Miss Fortune gains 25% Movement Speed. After another 5 seconds, this bonus increases.
Active: Fully activates Strut's Movement Speed and grants Attack Speed for 4 seconds.
LLove Tap reduces the cooldown of Strut by 2 seconds.

Strut is your attack speed steroid ability which also gives you massive out of combat movement speed buff that will help you have more of a presence around the map. Not only this, attacking fresh units will apply our Passive which in turn will reduce the cooldowns by 2 seconds per new unit we attack.

E
| Range: 1000 | Cooldown: 18 / 16 / 14 / 12 / 10 | Cost: 80 MANA |
Miss Fortune rains down bullets at a location, dealing magic damage over 2 seconds and slowing enemies hit.

This ability is great at slowing down opponents to set up for a follow up engage for our teammates, or a great way to combo it with our Ultimate, making it very difficult for enemies to walk out of it.

R
| Effect Radius: 1400 | Cooldown: 120 / 110 / 100 | Cost: 100 MANA |
Miss Fortune channels a barrage of bullets for 3 seconds, dealing (+75% total) (+20%) physical damage per wave. Bullet Time can critically strike for 120% damage.

]An excellent comeback mechanic, if you play teamfights well using this ability, you can always comeback no matter how hard you are losing. Also a great way to wombo-combo with our teammates CC engage, something like Naulilus, Leona, Amumu, if they are able to land a great engage and we are in a position to follow up with our Ultimate, it can change the tide of the game no matter how bad we were losing.

  • Essence Reaver is one of your core(first) items. This item is is a must have for Miss Fortune, because it provides the mana she needs since her damage comes from her abilities and the CDR will allow her to have Bullet Time up as frequently as possible without giving up too much.
  • Infinity Edge is another one of your core item. An itemthat is essential in any marksman, and in Miss Fortune's case, should be built second. This item will amplify your crit damage, and help you scale extremely well.
  • Rapid Firecannon's another one of your core items. After completing both Essence Reaver and Infinity Edge you definitely want to get this. This will increase your attack speed & crit chance, for a very cheap price. Not only this, this specific Zeal item will give you extra attack range every time your energise stack is at 100. Allowing you to get that last hit off on fleeing opponents to secure a kill.
  • Statikk Shiv is usually a situational 4th item. I really like this item because of the extra burst damage it provides, it will also apply the Stormrazor passive to anyone it damages, which can slow the entire enemy team if they group up the moment you get the passive off, however there are other better items like the Phantom Dancer which provides a shield for you. I usually go for Statikk Shiv if I know I will not be taking a lot of damage in fights and is able to free fire at all times or when I am super fed and ahead.
  • Phantom Dancer's an excellent 4th item choice if you are looking to get full 100% crit chance. You can never really go wrong with this item as it provides a shield when you reach low health and also the necessary stats you need as an marksman. This is especially useful against enemies who will undoubtedly be on top of you, every teamfight, like Talon, Kha'Zix, Zed etc. Be careful to not build this with a Hexdrinker or Maw of Malmortius as their passive overlaps each other.
  • Guardian Angel is one of my least favourite items as a marksman. The reason being that the cooldown on it is way too long, whilst it is cheap and gives decent stats, you really only buy it as a last item and then sell it later on once you make use of its passive. A decent item to consider when you are against AD Assassins, like Talon, Kha'Zix, Zed etc.
  • Blade of the Ruined King is a very situational item, that you may consider if you are against multiple high hp stacking tanks, like Dr. Mundo, Ornn where most of the teamfight, you are hitting the tanks. However I would not recommend this item if there is only one tank, as any Last Whisper item should usually get the job done.
  • Bloodthirster is also another situational item, I would say it is good if you are against enemies who has long range poke and pokes you out heavily, as the extra life steal and the shielding will be very useful. Also it is excellent against Assassins as the shield it provides will help you survive, like that extra tick of ignite or burst, allowing you to life steal more in the middle of combat to potentially survive their combos.
  • Death's Dance is a must have items if you are up against any opponents that can easily get on top of you, the passive to reduce the damage and turn it into bleeding is massive. It will give you that extra bit of survivability and life steal to continue fighting and survive. With this item, you will no longer get one shot and should be able to fight back against Assassins like Katarina, Zed, Talon, Evelynn etc.
  • Maw of Malmortius is a great item when up against an AP threat that you cannot avoid, something like Akali, Evelynn, Katarina comes to mind. Definitely consider building the Hexdrinker opponent first before completing this item, only complete the full item later on. Do not be afraid to buy Hexdrinker as 2nd or 3rd item. Keep in mind that this passive overlaps with the Phantom Dancer passive.
  • Wit's End is an okay item, and not particularly great for a marksman to purchase, it is only good when up against full AP enemies, even so only buy this after completing Maw of Malmortius

PTA Combo

A very basic combo you should know for Miss Fortune, is the autoattack + Q + autoattack, the first autoattack will deal bonus damage with the passive Love Tap and the Q will count as an autoattack that will help proc PTA. Allowing you to actually have a decent amount of burst damage that most players will underestimate, especially when you are super far ahead, you can even possibly one shot a squishy opponent. Especially up against opponents who inherently is stronger than you before 2 items, like Tristana, Lucian, Draven, you will actually come very close to winning against these all-in champions once you have gotten both of your core items & if you are somewhat even, and when ahead you actually will beat them 1v1 after 3 items.

Q Bounce/Usage

You can punish your lane opponents whenever they walk up to their own ally minions, by using your Q on the minion, which will then bounce onto whoever is behind them, dealing bonus damage on top of the bonus damage from your passive . It will do even more damage if your Q actually kills the minion, this is even further amplified once you have some crit items in your inventory. This is usually how you look to trade/poke in lane as Miss Fortune, if the enemy does not respect it, it will actually get them to really low health, enough to be in kill range which then you can threaten to kill them even when they are under their tower or call over a jungler for a free kill.

W(Attack Speed Steroid) Reset

If you did not know already, your Passive will reset your W ability, meaning that you can actually use it multiple times during a fight to maximise your attack speed meaning more damage. Everytime you are able to activate the passive you can reduce the cooldown of Strut by 2 seconds. In order to do this, you want to autoattack any units that does not already have the Passive on them. And attacking any minions/monsters/champions for the first autoattack will apply the Passive, allowing you to reduce your cooldown.

Ultimate Usage/Combo

The easiest way to know when to use your ultimate is when somebody has been CC and are unable to move away from their immediate location, something that can enable you very easily are Leona's full CC combo, or Amumu's R, you can do use the standard ultimate combo. Starting it off with your E to get off a guaranteed slow, as the cast time and animation of this is very quick, allowing you to immediately follow it up with the Ultimate. Making it extremely difficult for the enemies to get away if they are already within your slow and ultimate range. You should always try to pair your Ultimate with one of your teammates CC, as one good combo can easily turn the entire game around from hard losing to winning. When you do not have anyone to pair the CC with, try to use your Ultimate in choke points, where it would be difficult for the enemies to get away.

Playing Miss Fortune in lane, you have to constantly adapt to either being aggressive or passive. Against certain match-ups like Tristana, Lucian, Draven, these champions will straight up run you down where you don't even know what happened until you die. Against these hard match-ups you must be willing to give up the lane if you are unable to get an early push going at level 1/2. Sitting back at your tower and trying to farm as best as you could, or if you do have a winning support match-up, let us say you have a Nautilus against Sona, that perhaps you can try something even when they have to better marksman match-up, but be careful, when your Nautilus uses his hook and MISSES, you need to recognise that, besides from his autoattack root, there is nothing else Nautilus can do for the next little while, meaning if the Tristana is a good player and sees this oppurtunity, even with a losing support match-up he can jump onto you, knowing his hook is down, which means he is unable to help you immediately and can try to all-in you out of nowhere, next thing you know, you have to burn both your summoner spells or straight up die, and you would be really surprised the amount of times I have done this or been the victim of as well. You can also apply the Q Bounce mechanics we have mentioned in the previous chapter, where you can potentially chunk down the enemy by poking them through a minion, especially a dying one since it deals extra damage, but keep in mind, only try to do this, if you know you can get away with it, otherwise think twice, because they can attempt to all-in you/out trade you by poking you hard whenever you go for the Q bounces.

Outside of laning phase, you are able to control objectives very well, especially paired up with a heavy CC support. You can completely lock down an entrance to objectives, like dragon pit/baron pit or even under tower. If your team is able to get a good engage off, you can just blow them all up with your Ultimate combo, especially when the enemies are running at you since this is what they have to do if they are trying to get into the objective areas. However you would need to keep in mind at all times with CC that can easily get onto you and disrupt your Ultimate usage like Nautilus's R, Alistar's Combo and Malphite's R etc. You want to make sure these cooldowns are used before you cast your Ultimate, otherwise you are just a sitting duck, locking yourself in place for them to kill you. Do not be afraid to roam around and look to help your teammates out when they are in a fight, and if it looks like a good fight then with your Strut out of combat movement speed, it is really easily to help your team out across the map, being there first before the enemy marksman can be the difference between winning and losing the game. Or even better, the enemy marksman would never expect you to roam and when you do, it becomes a 5v4 fight, pretty much just auto-wins due to having man advantage.

In the video above I talk about the following concepts:

- Respecting Fog of War

- Hitting/Starting Objectives without a Reason

- Dealing with Assassins

- Knowing what good fights to take and what bad fights to avoid

It is recommended that, you take one of those tips and attempt to apply it in your next game to reap its benefits. Make sure you only do one at a time if it is too overwhelming, otherwise you will not learn from it. Even playing in a normal game will help, it need not be ranked.

In the video above I talk about the following concepts:

- Level 2 Power Spike

- How to punish your enemies with this power spike, or respect it and back off of it

- Knowing how many minions it takes to reach level 2 first in a duo lane

- 3 Clips of 3 Different ADCarry; Tristana, Caitlyn and Ezreal show casing what we have mentioned above.

Make sure you test this out in a normal game first before attempting it in ranked. It is okay to make mistakes, go all out and learn from your mistakes. Best to record with some sort of software so you can go back and watch your own replay to analyse what has happened.

This video is not owned by me but I think it is very well detailed on how to teamfight in general as a carry.

- Direct Initiate

• Create fight or flight response.
• Go in 1v5 if you have to.
• Carries DO NOT go in.

- Follow Up Initiate/Hit Tanks

• Tank pressure backline, or tankline.
• Forces everyone to use cooldowns/abilities
• Carries stay OUT until tank cooldowns/abilities are used.

- Hit Tanks

• Hit tanks after tank cooldowns/abilities are used.
• Forces out backline cooldowns/abilities
• Carries in range of 1 person.

- Kill Backline

• APC flash on backline or finish off tanks.
• ADC can dive if no enemy burst cooldowns/abilities are up.
• Tanks can make a flash play.

- Clean Up

• Flashes to kill fleeing enemies, this will ensure objectives are much easier to take without anyone contesting or the potential of throwing the game away.

I highly recommend you watch the video, not only just read the text on this guide. The video will include examples and instances where it very much make sense and will sink into you how it actually works. If you have to, make sure to rewatch the video a few times and in your next few games, to only focus working on these things for every teamfight. This may come across as overwhelming if you are a new player, but be patient it will become second nature.
