SEASON 10 | VARUS | GUIDE |
INTRODUCTION |
Hello everybody! My name is Sejwoonapiggle and I have been playing League of Legends since the beginning of Season 4. I’ve consistently hit Diamond in solo queue as a mid laner, support and AD Carry. In season 10, I am now an AD Carry player who mains Aphelios, Ashe, Caitlyn and Varus. I’m also a full time streamer! You can find me at: https://www.twitch.tv/sejwoonapiggle. I stream at 3pm GMT+0 every weekday (Monday to Friday) so make sure to come along if you have any questions for me! I’ve always really enjoyed playing as an ADC, but I never thought my mechanics were up to par. But after practice and constant learning, I finally feel like I consistently play at a much higher level than I ever have before. Varus has a solid laning phase regardless of what build you play. Lethality Comet makes him an early game poke monster. Lethal Tempo Guinsoo makes him a late game 1v5 hypercarry. |
RUNES |
OR
ON HIT VARUS
Lethal Tempo
|
For on hit Varus, Lethal Tempo is neccesary. You become an attack speed, tank shredding late game monster. With this keystone you become a scaling hypercarry who can very quickly apply Blighted Quiver blight stacks. |
COMET LETHALITY VARUS
Arcane Comet
|
For Lethality poke Varus, you play as a Piercing Arrow spammer, fulfilling the role of an early game monster with similar range to Xerath but dealing physical damage instead. |
ABILITIES |
Living Vengeance (Passive) |
On champion kill or assist, Varus gains 40% (+ 30% bonus attack speed) bonus attack speed for 5 seconds. On minion or monster kill, Varus gains 20% (+ 15% bonus attack speed) bonus attack speed for 5 seconds. |
Piercing Arrow (Q) |
Varus starts drawing back his next shot, gradually increasing its range and damage, then he fires it, dealing minimum 10 / 47 / 83 / 120 / 157 (+1.0 per attack damage) to maximum 15 / 70 / 125 / 180 / 235 (+1.5 per attack damage) physical damage, reduced by 15% per enemy hit (minimum 33%). While preparing to shoot, Varus cannot autoattack or use abilities, and his movement speed is slowed by 20%. After 4 seconds, Piercing Arrow fails but refunds half its mana cost. Piercing Arrow’s cooldown is reduced by 3 seconds if it detonates Blight stacks on a champion. |
Blighted Quiver (W) |
Passive: Varus' basic attacks deal bonus 7 / 10.5 / 14 / 17.5 / 21 (+0.25 per ability power) magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds (stacks 3 times). Varus' other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage equal to 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5% (+2% of ability power) of the target's maximum health per stack. This damage is capped at 360 against monsters. Active: Varus' next Piercing Arrow deals additional damage equal to 6 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 14% of the target's missing HP. Damage is increased by up to 50% (to 9 / 12 / 15 / 18 / 21% missing HP) based on charge time. The damage is capped at 360 against monsters. |
Hail Of Arrows (E) |
Varus fires a hail of arrows that deal 70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 (+0.6 per bonus attack damage) physical damage and desecrate the ground. Desecrated ground slows enemies' Movement Speed by 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45% for .25 seconds and reduces their healing and regeneration by 40%. The slow duration is refreshed if enemies stay within the zone. |
Chain of Corruption (R) |
Varus flings out a tendril of corruption that deals 100 / 175 / 250 (+100% of ability power) magic damage and immobilizes the first enemy champion hit for 2 seconds. The corruption then spreads towards nearby uninfected enemy champions, applying the same damage and immobilize if it reaches them. The corruption will continue to spread until there are no further unaffected targets in range. Targets rooted by Chain of Corruption gain 3 stacks of Blight over the duration of the root. |
ITEM BUILDS |
Starting item for Lethal Tempo on hit:
Doran's Blade Health Potion |
Botlane ADCs need Doran's Blade to help them last hit and to survive the lane. This item will help you scale up and it is the strongest starting item for laners. With the Lethal Tempo on hit build, you play like a traditional auto attack based hypercarry. |
Starting item for Comet Lethality:
Corrupting Potion | Poke Varus is very mana hungry and needs sustain. The bonus damage that corrupting potion helps you deal damage when you poke and then continue to be oppressive due to manaflow band + corrupting potion. |
ON HIT BUILD
Why? | Varus likes on hit and attack speed. Guinsoo's Rageblade synergises with his kit very well. The magic AND physical penetration both compliment him since he deals mixed damage. This build lets you shred tanks once you've got blight passive stacks to detonate with Piercing Arrow or Hail of Arrows. This is the late game hypercarry scaling build. |
LETHALITY COMET POKE BUILD
Why? | This build is extremely strong early game but as the game goes on, you start to fall off. League is a fast paced game and playing Varus with this build makes him a burst/long ranged poke early game lane bully. Your piercing arrows can deal 500 to 700 damage to squishies with just a few Lethality items. This is the lane bully, win game early build. |
