You should actually try Nocturne Mid. Nocturne Mid counters Casters who relies on 1 Spell. Also, he has fast waveclear with Duskbringer AND he has godlike roaming potential.

For those of you who do try this build, please comment and let me know how well it works :) I want to know how well it works for other people other than myself. Even post a link to your recent games or a screenshot of the results.

Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid I have to agree with you with some of your statements haha. But I believe that Nocturne top is underrated at the moment. Sure, there might be many other great top laners which could be use to carry solo queue and break through elo hell, but Nocturne has the ability to give that extra lane support your other lanes might need without sacrificing the carry potential, such as when playing Shen, where he just ends up as a meatshield for the team later in the game... well not really, but you get the point... Shen is not as useful in a useless team.

Overall I believe nocturne shouldn't be played top, but I can give you some things you should work on.

First of all, Trinity Force is not such a great item on noc cause of his long cooldowns. He benefits more from sticking power from Blade of the Ruined King - which could be used instead of Ravenous Hydra as well.

I also would not recommend Locket of the Iron Solari at all because it is usually bought by the jungler or support already, and is not that good unless you are against 2+ ap champs. Spirit Visage is a way better item overall, especially if you're having a lot of lifesteal.

Besides that, I would not recommend taking masteries concerning crit damage Lethality and Frenzy , simply because you're not getting any major crit change.

In terms of defensive items, I would advice against Frozen Heart and as well. The items are in a quite weak state atm: FH because it doesn't give anything but armor while being quite expensive and mallet simply because the item is worthless till you have the 3.3k item completed, the recipe is ****.

Hi Vynertje, I agree with your suggestions on the masteries and on Locket of the Iron Solari switching with Spirit Visage as I can see your logic in those.

But, I disagree that Nocturne shouldn't be played on top, sure, he's a great jungler, but he can do extremely well with the extra farm on top-lane as well as being an excellent split pusher. I again would like to refer you to TSM's very own Ninjaken who has been doing the very same thing with him.

The reason I use Ravenous Hydra rather than Blade of the Ruined King is due to the farming potential and split pushing potential it gives, along with the synergy with nocturne's Duskbringer and Umbra Blades. Trinity Force could be switched with other items as well, but with the buffs it has been having from the patches, I believe this item is quite superior at this current point in time and would work well despite the cooldowns of nocturne. Ninjaken again has been using the Ravenous Hydra, boots and Trinity Force build himself.

Thanks for your input!

@Flowstylex Thanks for the input, the reason I didn't archive it was so I could see if it was worth continuing as it does take quite a bit of time and effort to do :). I've fixed the skill sequence, thanks for the correction. Hmm... I guess Sunfire Aegis is quite superior as there are rarely situations where you'll require that much armour to be getting a Thornmail, + it could help quite a bit in split pushing... I can see why you say that, I'll revise the build and switch those two items around.

Only looked at the cheatsheet yet, but I can say some things already.

Thornmail is not the best, Sunfire Aegis is really superior. There are only rare situations where you want to get Thornmail

Also your skill sequence is wrong, you can't max a Skill at level 8

Well like you said it's still unfinished, and no one wants to read unfinished guides. Archive it and publish after you got finished

Sorry guys for the lack of content at the moment, I have exams so I haven't had time to finish this guide. Will do so as soon as I finish exams. I promise :) As for now, please rate and comment on how it is turning out so far. I'll also post some game results showing success with this strategy after exams.
