Currently I am at diamond 1 rank and Caitlyn is one of my top 3 ads i like to play.
My stats

This guide isn't made for looks, I made it for information purposes. This is just me mainly just writing down my thoughts on what I think of the game right now. Well finally got a new computer and play play on something more then 15 fps so updates are coming in.

Starting with a Doran's Blade is a strong opener that's very cost effective. Caitlyn is mostly all about poking and harassing the other ad more then full on engage. If i back early and dont have enough for my B. F. Sword ill pick up and second Doran's Blade with
Now that Dorans give life steal, it scales a lot better then it did before.

Berserker's Greaves

Buy 2 Doran's Blade if you took the sustain build rune/masteries and if your skipping Long Sword that will be turned into a Vampiric Scepter


turn this into a Vampiric Scepter. However your paying a lot for life steal now. I strongly recommend not starting this item, you're just giving up to much stats in lane.
If you pick one up try to save it for your Last Whisper that you will be buying later on in the build.

Raw AD damage items


You want this as soon as possible. If you have enough for this first back pick this up.


Pick this up after your B. F. Sword, or you its your 3rd+ time backing and you have 2 Doran's Blade and Berserker's Greaves and your siting on like 900 gold.

Mobility


The best for ad's; buy this when you are out of laneing phase and need to be running around.(First tier towers are down.) Caitlyn got hit with an attack speed nerf, meaning this wouldn't be a bad first buy if you back with 900 gold first trip back.


Important for the late game fights and you have little peel.


Get this if you team is behind and you might even need to get in the mid game.


Like Berserker's Greaves but better, get it instead of Berserker's Greaves if your planning on staying in lane.


You buy this to replace your Berserker's Greaves and as your last item.
Sell your boots when you can buy it whole; Only if you have enough peel

PD or shiv? Get second, One or the other. Both scale really well with Infinity Edge


Better late game, Better single target damage. the usual item to go for.


Better for split pushing and cheaper. I tend to get this when I'm behind and were going to be needing wave clear.(They're contesting your turrets with minons.)

Core


Your paying a lot for lifesteal. Sit on Long Sword If you dont need the sustain.
Buy an early Vampiric Scepter for mid game team fights when they have a way to get guaranteed damage on you. Karthus or champions that will be diving you Akali Volibear etc.


Received a huge nerf to it in patch 4.10.


Best item for AD damage; Costy though.skip Vampiric Scepter if your going this way.


Armorpen.

targets that have 100+ armor makes this item the best choice you can get. An absolute MUST as a 3rd or 4th item including your boots

Defensive options Only get one!! Unless you have a really fed top building AD, then consider buying 2.



Get this if they have a lot of stuff to lock you down and Cleanse isn't doing the job just right. Get as a last item while sitting on a Quicksilver Sash as a 3-4 item. If you are planning on getting this item anyways you may want to consider to take Heal for aoe or Barrier for nukes.


I get this item if they have a strong engagement. Like Malphite or Blitzcrank; or a fed one shot champion like Gragas or LeBlanc.


Good vs assassins. Buy this if the team doesn't meet the requirements for the other defensive items.

Isn't a good item for Caitlyn. The only ad's I would consider this on are Miss Fortune and Corki because they have abilities that deal consent physical damage.


This item sucks now. Cost to much for what it gives.

Botrk is an item for ads that have an attack steroid( like vayne or twitch ult)

Before BT use to be 3200 vs the IE 3800. Now that BT got nerf too 3500 the 2 are more comparable. On top of that, Dorans gives lifesteal now which scales rather then the hit per 3 life back. BT+Zeal+dagger(3200+1195+400=4795) to IE+Vamp(3800+800=4600) you would need lifesteal; now dorans offers lifesteal. I'm seeing a lot of double dorans.

Statikk Shiv is better if your team is behind because you have better wave clear when they're at your base contesting turrets. Also not a bad buy if your in general are behind. When i back to buy and only have enough for the static shiv, thats when ill also buy a ss over pd

Your main goal is to get Bloodthirster and then follow it up with a Phantom Dancer or Statikk Shiv with your boots somewhere on the way.

This is the build you're aiming for. keep your Berserker's Greaves until you can buy the Zephyr full. Dont trade in Berserker's Greaves for Zephyr if you need the movement.

Standard
ill update with a pretty picture another time k? <3 Standard for last hitting easier; puts more damage out early game as well.
armor flat seals scale better then flat hp that is true. However, flat hp will beat flat armor early game. I relay on my runes for the early game, my items for the late. Also many others
Mostly all bot lanes will have some sort of magic damage involved. If you have 2 rune pages set up one with flat mr and another with per level MR is what you should use.( Sona, Leona, Taric, etc FLAT Magic resist blues; Soraka per level blues)
After the nerf of lifesteal and the buff of attack speed, attack speed will do more for you in trades/all ins. Besides every ad will buy a Bloodthirster or blade of the ruined king

Take one AD quint if you took 21 masterie points in the offensive tree. This will allow you to last hit under tower

Alright so this chapter was alittle out of date.. will get pictures another time as well.
All i really have to say now though is with the buff on feast (3 hp a minon kill / 1mana) helps out wit the quint rune changes

This is a must for squishys

Take this most of the time when they have so sort of CC support or CC in team fights that will be targeted at you.

so ignite 50% deduction doesn't effect heal anymore, also it stacks so sometimes you'll see your support run this as well

Caitlyns range is what makes her complete dominance in lane and easy to position in team fights.

Great for poke in lane. Combo this with your 90 Caliber Net makes it hard for the enemy to predict where its going to hit. scales with 130% of your ad. Just making the BT that much stronger.


A good caitlyn player will always have this on cooldown in lane. You should consistently use these to zone out there bot lane and re position if needed.


Adds a bit more burst with you Piltover Peacemaker and also used for escapes.


This skill doesn't necessarily need to be the finishing blow to a kill. If it can zone the other ad from csing it will be well worth the cooldown. A huge burst of damage when you get this to level 2 in the mid game. Scales with 200% of your ad.

Combo with Q Piltover Peacemaker and e 90 Caliber Net Is one of a key thing you need to know to play Caitlyn effectively.

Almost like an Alistar combo but simpler. First your going to 90 Caliber Net then right away Piltover Peacemaker; your 90 Caliber Net cast animation will allow you to instantly cast any of Caitlyn skills. Its that simple. This is a lot easier to do when smart casting.(which i play on and i recommend you do as well!)

Harassing
Not only should you pay attention to what the enemy minons health are at for last hitting; but keep track of yours. Every time you see friendly minons low, expect there AD going to last hit it and make him make a choice between trading auto attacks with you and missing the CS, or taking a couple of auto attacks for that CS. If they don't have sustain, giving them huge damage early game is worth missing out a couple cs to get them zoned.

Positioning
This skill cant be explain easy and is more learn from experience. You want to attack the Highest priority(The one on there team who does the most damage) while staying in a safe spot. For an example your not going to be focusing a support Leona because she does no damage to anyone. Sit behind your front line and focus theirs.
