Introduction



This build for those who enjoy playing top and who's play style is very aggressive. It uses item and runes to build Attack Damage and some health so you can both take damage and deal it. This bruiser build makes is what I feel like the best way to play and build Garen. And I think its funner then playing a tanky Garen but it does depend on what your team needs and how you are playing.

Masteries and Runes

Masteries


These set of masteries help you with the defensive part of Garen and making sure you have that in early game you can defeat anyone who apposes you. The armor, magic resist, and health bonuses do a great deal to make sure you can survive most foes top. The reason for Tenacious is because current meda is most cc and will help you live through it. Relentless is also good because it helps make sure you can escape form most ganks.



Runes


These runes give you the ad for good early game attacks and making it easier to get the first blood, there is also armor runs to make sure your not killed quickly. The reason for attack runes over armor penetration is because you will have a stronger early game and be able to start snow balling quickly and do not underestimate Garen's auto attacks. In my opinion the armor and magic resist runes help out with what ever champion you are playing.

Skill Sequence and Spells

Skill Sequence


Everyone who looks at the order of leveling abilities probably asks "Why Decisive Strike first?". The reason for this is to be able to escape if an early gank happens and to do as much damage to get first blood as possible. But besides that this is the normal order of doing things.

Spells



Flash is good because it gives you an escape and a way to close the distance of Champions who are fleeing for their life.

Exhaust is used to be able to escape or to slow your enemies down. The reason that this is better than Ignite is because you will be able to do the damage as long as you can catch up and it is more helpful in team fights.

Reason for Ghost is that it will do the same thing as Flash but it might be better because it can be used in combination with the Decisive Strike.

Jungling and Farming

Jungling


You are almost never going to be the jungle as you aren't the jungler but if you are behind in level and/or need a little more damage kill the creeps in the jungle and/or get red buff.



Farming


This is very simple mainly last hit creeps at the beginning and then mid to late game wipe out creep waves with Judgment maxed out which should do the trick. Just make sure to get as much as possible and make sure teammates don't steal your creep top, especially jungle they like to do that. Also make sure that you are not trying to over extend and lose you turret and farm because of this.

Items

Why so many builds


The reason I have made so many variations is because it depends on if you are winning lane or not.

Base Items



Boots + 3x Health Potions are the standard opening items because it gives you the speed to catch up with your enemy and the health potions to help you survive in lane for longer.

With Garen Boots of Swiftness give him the speed to catch up with almost anyone who is trying to escape or giving you the ability to escape.

Frozen Mallet gives you another way to close the gap by slowing you opponent down and giving you a good amount of health to be able to take blows from your opponent. Reason for option 2 is because sometimes you need to be more tanky to help your team out so you would just switch build order with Black Cleaver.

Other Items



Black Cleaver gives you a good amount of damage while giving you a fair amount of health to help keep you alive. Sometimes might have to be switched out with Frozen Mallet.



Infinity Edge gives you the ability to do massive amounts of damage and with the chance to land critical hits to be able to end an enemies life quickly.

Bloodthirster gives you a good amount of damage while giving you much needed life-steal to be able to live through team fights.

Situational


Runic Bulwark is purchased last if no other tank or off tank has gotten it yet replacing your last item on the build you are going with. Thornmail if majority of enemies are attack speed based, replaces Guardian Angel. Randuin's Omen used if enemies are making your health vanish in seconds, replaces Warmog's Armor. Sunfire Aegis If you think an item should be replace with this go right ahead but the cape doesn't do some of the jobs you want. Buy Vision Wards should get with any build to help protect from getting Ganked and show other wards in river or in the bush.

Team Work

Top Lane


When at top be aware of the map make sure to see what is happening and ask for ganks when they are needed. When playing againest ranged make sure to use Q first then Spin and time out your pokes right. Don't forget to buy vision wards to place in this bush bellow.



Other


Make sure to help teammates and make sure to use check on your map and help other out when they need it you may get a couple of kills this way and help other players win their lanes. Also try not to take the ADC kills or farm when doing so as they are a key part of team fights and are able to use the kills and gold to its full advantage.

Summary



So why this build?


This build allows for room to expand but at the moment I haven't seen a Garen build like this one and
I believe this is one of the better ways to build him. I hope this build helps you win more games how it has helped me, if you have any comments, questions, or ideas go ahead and post them. There will probably be an update soon to make the layout better looking because this is my first build page.
