Against AP Heavy
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Welcome, this is my first moba guide. I'm going to keep this guide fairly simplistic and easy to follow. Constructive criticism is welcomed. I will start off by saying that the highly under-rated and underestimated Sion is my all-time favorite champion. I loved him before the re-work, and I still love him after the re-work. In this guide you will find a Toplane, Jungle, and Support build.
Creeping / Jungling / Play-style
This is a beautiful video that shows the general play-style of Sion.
I take no credit for this video.
Art of War is at 4:55 which shows play-style and different combos.
Gameplay is at 5:55 which shows you how to lane and clear jungle camps.
General thoughts on Sion and the Sion rework
When I took my first glance at the newly reworked Sion I immediately thought his carry potential was dramatically reduced and he wasn't a viable pick anymore. I've never been so wrong.
Devastating gank potential, great jungle/lane sustain, and follow-up CC are the strengths of Sion. This is why Sion excels in skirmishes and team fight.
Sion is a great addition to any team that already has decent CC. The reason being is because Sion has great follow-up skills. Opponents that are already CC'd make Unstoppable Onslaught and Decimating Smash very easy to land. This becomes devastating for your sorry opponents as they try to squirm away.
Pros / Cons
+ Amazing gank potential
+ Strong teamfight
+ Great peel
+ Good CC
+ Can tank tons of damage with Soul Furnace
+ Armor shred using Roar of the Slayer
+ Infinitely scaling max health bonus
- Can be kited
- Useless when your skills are on CD
- Decimating Smash can be interrupted
Greater Quintessence of Armor
Greater Seal of Scaling Health
Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
will give us that small MR boost and Tenacity that will come in handy.
This has all the stats Sion needs. Mana, CD Reduction, and Armor. One of the important core items.
Health, MR, CD, and base regen. I prefer this item over Banshee's Veil because of the cooldown and base regen.
Great return damage. Sion is a front-line, you will always be under attack, therefore this item is well-suited. Will definitely wear-down the ADC's health while you soak up damage.
Health, Armor, and Fire. What's there not to like? This is one of your only damaging items aside from Thornmail. Decent DPS especially for long-lasting team fights.
Tons of health. Amazing regen passive that synergies with the Spirit Visage.
Currently trying to play more games. The build you see in the screenshot is from my old Sion build. Will update soon.
Thank you for reading.
My goal is to supply a great Sion guide while keeping everything fairly simplistic due to the fact that many people want straight to-the-point builds. When I was a beginner I wanted the same thing. I'd come on mobafire, click on the build, and only look at the build order. I will continue to update and build on this guide as I see fit(I still have much more to add). Constructive criticism and tips are welcomed. Cheers!
