Introduction
Well I am a pretty casual LoL player who has been playing for about 3 months now and I have fell in love with the curious turtle in that time. His mobility on the fields of justice is immense getting straight to a team fight whenever or wherever one may break out, taunting foes and generally ****ing **** up. I am not only writing the guide because of my love for the champion but also because I feel that I play Rammus differently to most. Very slight differences, here and there, but differences nonetheless and I would like to share it with you.
I take Greater Seal of Armor to beef Rammus up early game making an early gank alot easier with less risk.
For Glyphs I take 4x Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction making it possible to puncturing taunt enemies multiple times in the same teamfight allowing for more gankage by my teammates. I then take 5x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist for obvious reasons.
I take Greater Mark of Magic Resist, again, to help beef Rammus up early game.
And finally I take three Greater Quintessence of Health (un)suprisingly to beef Rammus up !

My masteries are a rather standard tank build. The only problem I had with my masteries was just not enough applicable masteries to put points into to get all the way down to
Tenacity
so a couple of points are (slightly) wasted into
Strength of Spirit
(since we aren't building any mana items apart from Frozen Heart = basically wasted) but the 4% reduction in damage is well worth it and much needed. I then went onto the utility tree putting 1 point in
Good Hands
, 3 points in
Perseverence
, 1 point in
Haste
and then 4 points in
Awareness
for the nice experience boost helping me keep up with everyone else.
So I like to start with Regrowth Pendant and a Health Potion allowing me to stay in lane until I have farmed enough for Philosopher's Stone and the Boots. Philosopher's Stone helps me deal with mana issues I may face from the beginning of the game until the end serving me just fine in long teamfights where mana might be an issue otherwise. Boots are self explanitory. I then farm enough gold to build a Heart of Gold giving me a nice chunk of health and gold per 5 so that I am not always starving my lane partner of precious last hits.
I then go on to build my boots in Mobility Boots, this is one of the fundemental differences in my build. Mobility Boots synergize very well with your Powerball and Ghost allowing you to race around the battlefield protecting your teammates. The boots also make it very easy to catch up with enemies and land your puncturing taunt dragging them into your friendly champions. BUT you may say, WHY U NO TANKY BOOTS FUDG3Y?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? And I say that one can more than compensate for the loss of mitigation elsewhere and I personally feel that Mobility Boots synergizes better with Rammus.
After that I build my Sunfire Aegis giving me another good chunk of health, a nice bit of armor and a very nice ability to farm since Rammus doesn't have much besides his Soaring Slam for AoE. Next is my Force of Nature, the magic resist is much needed and the health regen effect works wonderfully thanks to your huge health pool from Sunfire Aegis and Heart of Gold. Force of Nature could also be placed behind your Frozen Heart (thanks to Divic for pointing out that Thornmail was idiotic and thanks to itsJH for the substitution) which is normally your next build but you can bring it forward if you are getting spanked by those damned ADs.
Finally we build Randuin's Omen from our Heart of Gold to beef up our armo(u)r with a very nice passive and ACTIVE (DONT FORGET IT)
By this point the game should already be finished but if not you can sell your Philosopher's Stone and build more magic resist or you could build it into Eleisa's Miracle which gives tenacity but might not be the greatest tank item ever but you know for certain that there will be no mana problems. A good substitute if you do sell your Philosopher's Stone is a Banshee's Veil.

I pick up Ghost for the lovely speed boost synergizing with my Mobility Boots and Powerball to help me GTFO and get into the heat of the battle and land my puncturing taunt.
I also pick up Flash because it again gives me a very nice way to escape but to also catch the enemy with your Powerball even if minions are between you and your victim.
I pick up a point in Powerball first just for its gap closing ability.
I then put two points into my Puncturing Taunt allowing for a longer duration and keeping over extended champs in tower range longer.
Then I put a point in Defensive Ball Curl at lvl 4.
Another point goes into Puncturing Taunt at lvl 5
Then you get your ultimate Soaring Slam which is brilliant for destroying enemy towers in seconds and farming minions thanks to its very short cooldown.
After that I max my Puncturing Taunt then Defensive Ball Curl and finally my Powerball while putting points into Soaring Slam when I can at lvl 11 and 16

So all in all this is a much speedier Rammus than most others which can really scare the enemy off if you can master it. Remember I said earlier on I was a casual, not a hardcore player by any stretch of the imagination and this was simply to show all of you how I like to play Rammus. If you have any suggestions on how I could possibly improve this build or just ingeneral how you got on with it I would love to hear what you have to say in the comments but please keep it constructive and not just 'ZOMG NUB CASUAL Q_Q BADDY KID'. Also please correct any errors I may have made (spelling etc.) since I did do this at 2am there is bound to be something wrong in that wall of text I wrote in a dazed state.

Just a little game I played where I absolutely destroyed.

20/10/11 Updated the guide with code
20/10/11 Swapped Thornmail for Frozen Heart since Randuin's Omen made Thornmail counter productive (thanks to Divic for pointing this out)
20/10/11 Swapped Shurelya's Battlesong with Eleisa's Miracle due to the fact it has tenacity but still keeps the mana regen that I love so much.
