Introduction

Hi everyone, I'm GregBarsini and this is my jungle Kha'Zix Guide. I worked quite a lot on it, so I would really appreciate some feedback. I'm a mid main who enjoys jungling a lot, and I have been playing jungle Kha'Zix since he came out.

I'm back and the guide got a huge update too. Enjoy.

Abbreviations:
CC - Crowd Control (Slows, snares, stuns etc.)
MS - Movement Speed
AD - Attack Damage
APEN - Armor Penetration
CDR - Cooldown Reduction
MR - Magic Resist
AA - Auto Attack

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ Good clear speed and sustain
+ Reliable slow with Unseen Threat
+ Huge burst potential on isolated targets (Top and mid are usually alone)
+ Resets with evolved Leap
+ Jukes for days with new evolved Void Assault

You clear fast with isolation and with good sustain due to Void Spike.
Ganks are fairly easy with the slow on your passive and with your Leap.
Taking away Drake and Baron is a breeze with evolved Q (since they are always isolated).
You can pretty much just assassinate the enemy ADC and/or APC/Assassin and then GTFO.
Cons

- Lack of CC
- If you get caught with Leap and Ult down you are dead
- You are almost as squishy as the targets you want to get to

You are an assassin (Ezio Auditore) act as such.
You can't go head first into fights, careful planning and flanking will win your battles.
You don't have much health and resistances, you can't allow yourself to get caught.
You should wait for your teammates to engage in teamfights, (because you can use your missing health damage on your evolved Taste Their Fear better then) <-- Not anymore, thx Rito (Damn you Nidalee too) .

Runes Reforged

Domination

Dark Harvest: Since you get Souls from the jungle this Keystone gets stronger the more you farm and contribute to kills. Compared to the other two it has no cooldown on it's own so you can keep up getting Soul Charged and dealing increased damage in a fight.

Sudden Impact: We have stealth and a leap, while we have almost no CC. Heal on champion hit on a 20s cooldown is doing us no good.

Zombie Ward: We get extended use out of our warding trinket and we can leave vision even if we have scanner.

Relentless Hunter: This is mostly personal preference. Kha'Zix can use the "Spell Vamp" because he has high dmg, so even if you get hurt while going in you'll most likely get a good chunk of health back with Ravenous Hunter, he also has build paths with Youmuu's Ghostblade so the Item CDR is not wasted either with Ingenious Hunter. If you want to cruise on the Rift faster go with Relentless Hunter

Precision

Triumph: Operating as a Jungler in ganks can be a Dangerous Game. +25 gold for your efforts.

Coup de Grace: Self-explanatory

Spells

Flash: If you don't have your Ult nor your Leap it will save your life. Or might cost your enemy's double buff.

Smite: It is not impossible to jungle without Smite but I don't recommend it. Securing buffs, Drake and Baron is easier this way.

Teleport: You can change Flash for Teleport. It allows you to clean up fights on the other side of the map and you can gank from bushes that your mates warded.

Ability Explanation

  • Unseen Threat: ISOLATION: Kha'Zix marks all nearby enemies who aren't accompanied by any of their allies nearby as Isolated. Kha'Zix's abilities have special interactions against Isolated targets.

INNATE: Kha'Zix gains Unseen Threat when the enemy team loses sight of him, causing his next basic attack against an enemy champion to deal 14 - 150 (based on level) (+ 40% bonus AD) bonus magic damage and slow them by 25% for 2 seconds.
  • Taste Their Fear (Q):
ACTIVE: Kha'Zix slashes the target enemy, dealing physical damage, increased by 65% against isolated targets.

Evolution: Kha'Zix gains 50 bonus range on his basic attacks and Taste Their Fear. If the target is Isolated, 45% of Taste Their Fear's cooldown is refunded.
  • Void Spike (W): Kha'Zix fires a cluster of spikes in a line that detonates upon hitting an enemy dealing them physical damage, increased by 20% against monsters. Kha'Zix heals himself if he is within detonation radius.

Evolution: Void Spike fires three clusters in a cone, slows by 40% and grants sight of enemy champions hit for 2 seconds. Multiple explosions do not deal extra damage to the same target or provide Kha'Zix with additional healing. Isolated targets hit by Evolved Void Spike are slowed by 80% instead.
  • Leap (E): Kha'Zix leaps to an area, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies upon landing.

Evolution: Increases Leap's range by 200, and causes kills and assists scored by Kha'Zix to refresh Leap's cooldown.
  • Void Assault (R): PASSIVE: Each rank of Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his abilities, granting it an additional effect.

ACTIVE: Kha'Zix enters stealth for 1.5 second, gaining 40% bonus movement speed and ignores unit collision while stealthed. Unseen Threat is also granted (even if Kha'Zix is revealed through stealth). Void Assault can be cast a second time within 10 seconds at no cost.

Evolution: While out of combat, Kha'Zix also passively gains Void Assault for 3 seconds in brush. This persists for up to 1.5 seconds after exiting the brush (10 second per brush cooldown).

Skill Sequence

> > >
You obviously need to max Taste Their Fear first, bread and butter skill. After that we max Void Spike for the heal and damage increase. You can max Leap second for a reduced CD however, it won't be as close in damage as Void Spike. Of course, get your evolutions whenever you can. First evolution should be spent on Taste Their Fear, in the jungle you don't need your resets and you can easily do Drake with your mid laner or support. Second evolution should be Leap. Bigger jump, resets --> More fun. If you want to run around frag hunting, evolve Void Assault. For general fighting/sieging evolve Void Spike

Items

Item Sequence

Black Cleaver 3000
Ravenous Hydra 3300
Duskblade of Draktharr 3100
Lord Dominik's Regards 3000
Mortal Reminder 3000
Guardian Angel 3200

With mobility boots you can run around the map faster, and you can chase your prey easier. You can swap them out later, if you want some CDR from Ionian Boots of Lucidity
or some tenacity from Mercury's Treads

CDR, AD and a bit of sustain and upgrades your Smite into Chilling Smite that deals a small amount of true damage to Champions and steals 20% MS from the enemy for 2 seconds.

Gives you a bit of health, that is never bad. More CDR, never bad too. Stacking Armor Shred up to 24%. Hitting and enemy with basic attacks gives you a small MS boost, but if you kill a unit or recive an assist from an enemy who has decreased Armor by your Black Cleaver you get a larger speedboost. Good for chasing foes.

Gives 80 flat AD. Health regen and AOE life steal is great too. However the selling point is the Active of this item. It deals 60-100% of your full AD in AoE. Combined with your Leap it can deal tons of damage and you didn't even used your Q or AutoAttack. You can use it during fights too to hurt almost the entire enemy team.

Last Whisper evolved like Kha'Zix, we have:
- Lord Dominik's Regards: Same, same, but different, now you have 35% Bonus APen
and you deal increased damage to enemies who have a higher total health than you (2% for every 100 point of health difference -max 1000 health/20%)
- Mortal Reminder: Same APen, different passive. Dealing physical damage inflicts Grievous Wounds, reducing incoming healing.

You will die. There is no question. And everybody needs a Guardian. It gives you a bit of AD and Armor so you can be in teamfights for a bit longer. The passive is just amazing. It gives you a second chance if you mess up, and you will need that chance.

Now a recommended item for sure. 55 AD and one of the two complete items in the game that gives flat APen. 10% CDR and 40 out of combat MS is neat.

Pure brutality. If you realy want to delete your enemies from the Fields of Justice you can buy this. You can swap Guardian Angel out for this.

Trinity is better now on Kha'Zix because your evolved Void Assault now makes you invisible for 2 seconds so you can wait out the passive cooldown of Trinity without risking your life. You can swap Guardian Angel out for this.

One of The Greatest items Riot has released. Gives 80 AD and 10% CDR, premium damage item, for Kha'Zix. The passives are even greater. Dealing physical damage heals for 15% of the damage dealt (1/3 for AoE damage) and 30% damage taken is converted into a bleed that lasts for 5 seconds. Since you deal massive damage with Taste Their Fear you will heal a lot, and with you surviving burst damage you can stick around, so maybe you can Lifesteal yourself up before you bleed out. Overall great item.
Another great item got to the Rift. Not a lot to discuss. Gives 55 AD and some Lethality. I suggest you build this before/during/after you finish your Hydra. Highly recommended item, the AA bonus damage and slow synergizes well with Kha. The Blackout passive means you know when you are not spotted by a ward. 10% CDR is neat.
Deffensive item chioces

Armor
Against AA oriented teamcomps the passive is very good, Armor never hurt anybody.
Already featured up above.

A lot of health combined with a lot of Armor. The combination of the two is better than either one alone. Also, since you will be in the midst of things with the active you can controll a teamfight better.

If you absolutely, positively need to jump into a raging teamfight to assassinate a high priority target, buy Zhonya's. The 2,5 sec stasis keeps you alive lets you think and Taste Their Fear will be off of cooldown when you come out. Armor is good, and the AP is not as wasted as you think. Kha'Zix's passive damage and the heal on Void Spike scales by 50% of his AP. Gives 10% CDR as well which is nice.
This is an excellent defensive item. It gives Armor and Health, a solid combination of stats and a good amount too. The speedboost/damage build-up is neat and the slow on it is stronger than Unseen Threat although it decays faster.

Magic Resist
Thresh, Ashe, Amumu, Morgana, Ekko against your team?
I wish you could surrender at 2:00, sadly it's impossible. However buying a Mercury's Treads is your chioce. Magic resist rulez.
Damage combined with CDR and MR, the passive shield can save your pretty butt in many instances.
CDR, Health, Health regen and MR. Very good stats and the passive increases the heal on Void Spike
AP, CDR, MR and the passive shield. Only buy this instead of Spirit Visage if you need to absorb a specific spell of the enemy.

Health
I said that Health only is not enough. But 800 HP without resistances might be enough to keep you un-bursted. 10% CDR is a nice thing to have but you usually hit 40% before you get to the tanky items.
The new tanky/support/engage item. Health,Mana both good for Kha, however the active can help you engage, with your whole team. Also, if you choose to hop in, to slow the enemy team, and then use Void Assault you can help your mates to catch enemies out of position, also you can sneak to the enemy carries and Taste Their Fear.
Gives plenty of health, damageboost is nice, but the selling point is the shield you get when you get bursted. It's likely your mispositioned a** will be saved by this item. But remember it has a 45 sec cooldown.

Keep it in mind, if you go too tanky, you can't Taste Their Fear because there will be none to taste.

Deffensive choices were requested by ImBatmanKun, to keep inexperienced players alive. Thanks to him. My pleasure to help.

Jungling

Basic Jungling

Always pay attention on what is going on in the lanes. If your laners are in good shape, and they don't need your help just go and farm until you see an opportunity to set up a countergank if the lane pushes, or to towerdive if your teammates are dominating their foes.
And let me tell you something. You are the GOD of YOUR jungle. Who has Smite? Yeah just a fast check. The jungler. YOU. Blue is not for the AP Zed in the middle lane. It's yours. Red is not the AD Sona's. It's yours.
You decide wheter you want to share your buffs with your laners or not. Ask laners if they want buffs. Some mids will let you take all of the blues if you can get something out of it. Or if you help them, and they get blue from that pesky Nidalee, then they will be even more thankful because they got a kill too.
But there is a big drawback jungling with Kha'Zix. You NEED kills. You need them to be strong. And if you are strong, then you can let your mates get some too. I am not telling you to KS (Kill Secure) every kill in a game. But you should try a bit. :D

Stealing

Easy to execute hard to get out. Your evolved Taste Their Fear combined with Smite and Ravenous Hydra can steal Drake and Baron from approximately 1600 hp at lvl 18. (It's not tested but I'm sure it can be pulled off.) You should use your Leap or Void Assault to surprise your enemy. But if you do something wrong, then you won't have your escapes, because you used them to initiate.

Ganking

Ganking is easy with Kha'Zix. You have a reliable slow with Unseen Threat, great gap closer with Leap and you deal a lot of damage to add to it. However you don't have any hard CC. If the enemy laner got a dash, jump or teleport like ability for example LeBlanc's Distortion or Zed's Living Shadow you have no means to stop them. However if they use their escapes you can usually pull out a Flash from them just by pouncing them. Then you just have to go another round with their abilities on cooldown to kill them with your laner.
After you get Void Assault ganking is a piece of cake. They won't see it coming. Just be sure not to stand on wards. With the addition of enhanced Smite you have another tool to gank. Stalker's Blade's Chilling Smite steals MS and deals a small amount of true damage.

Warding

Yes. You have to. Your argument is invalid. With your first back you should buy a pink ward, and you should pink either one of the little brushes in the river next to the mid lane bushes. I have seen countless people just walk by them, even if they step into the bush, they are usually not paying attention. So check the brushes. They might be watching.
Let their own Zombie Wards watch over them...

Dealing with Teammates

"Noob jungler, no gank. I lost lane because jungler never came. I'm just gona AFK and report all of you. Peace nerds."
How many times have I read that and be like: "Not again" T.T
Laners listen up, I have to tell you something, laner/jungler to you. YOU-DO-NOTHING.
Junglers do almost as much work as laners combined.
What Jungler does:
- Secure and time buffs, Drake and Baron.
- No passive gold/EXP gain. Yeah, jungler needs to farm too.
- Counterjungling, tracking enemy jungler movement.
- Warding places, that laners don't ward, denying enemy vision.
- Ganking, counterganking.
What Laner does:
- Farm.
- Try to kill the enemy laner.
- Roam.
- Ward.
So please respect junglers. They need you, you need them.
And something else, if a jungler says no to a gank, because he won't give double buffs
and kills to that fed Riven who just killed you for the fifth time, you should not blame them. He will try and help other lanes, snowball them, so they can carry you. This is how help will come.
But to roast the junglers too: If you don't do anything whatsoever just farm,
then you are not a jungler. You are just a laner in the jungle with less gold/EXP than anyone else. <--- Not the truth anymore, however, your teammates will still hate you if you don't help them, if there is trouble.

Teamfights

Teamfighting when you are ahead

If your team is ahead then you can pick your fights. One little mistake from the enemy can result in an Ace and a victory. So you should try and force them to make a mistake. Flanking, getting behind the enemy and having a positional advantage on your side is key. Two simple reasons: First, flanking means that you are not together with your team, just near them. So you are closer to the enemy. When a teamfight breaks out you will be close to the enemy ADC or APC/Assassin, that means that the bruisers and tanks fighting in the front line won't be able to stop you. Second, if a teamfight breaks out, you can be sure, that the enemy will use almost all of the hard CC they got at the very beginning of the fight. You don't want to be in the fray when your team gets Amumu ulted combined with Orianna's Command: Shockwave.

Teamfights when behind

It's almost the same as previously, however you have to be careful with getting near the enemy, because your team won't be able to follow up, if you get caught.

You don't have combos that you can pull off often, but when you go in you should go in as hard as you can. Use everything you got.
Full assassination combo with Leaping onto the enemy: Smite!! Leap --> While in the air use Ravenous Hydra --> You can use Taste Their Fear right before you land --> AutoAttack --> Void Spike --> Void Assault. Now, a little pause. You have 1.5 seconds to decide what to do with your life next. You got Unseen Threat from using Void Assault and Taste Their Fear will be up soon. If you decide you can go for the kill with that AA and Q and still get away, you will have one more stack of your ult to wreak havoc on the enemy. However if it didn't deal as much damage, you still did your job well. The enemy carry should be screaming and running away from you, the moment you appeared. That means that the carry is running away from the teamfight. Win. On the other hand... If the enemy collapses on you and the carry is not shivering from fear and your Leap is down because you engaged with it, then you just set up a 4v5 for your team. Lose.

The Hunt is On!

The Hunt is On! is a special event between Kha'Zix and Rengar.

It occurs, when:
Kha'Zix

- Reached lvl 16 and used all of his Evolution points
- Both team must be alive at the same time
Rengar

- Killed every single member of the enemy team at least once.
- Both team must be alive at the same time

The event will trigger after the conditions are met.

The event is won, when Kha'Zix or Rengar dies and the other one got the kill, or assisted in the kill. But what if they trade? Good question. The win is acknowledged very quickly. So whoever dies first loses.

Achievements for winning the event:
Kha'Zix

- Granted a 4th Evolution point
Rengar

- Granted 6th stack for Bonetooth Necklace (Called "Head of Kha'Zix")

It sounds awesome to have another Evolution point, or to have a fully stacked Bonetooth Necklace isn't it? Well if you think it through it's not as good as you think. Of course you get some benefits, at least Kha'Zix does.

Since patch 4.14 rolled out, Rengar gets increased vision range while sitting in a bush. So that's a plus.

Currently the event is rather an exciting part of the game than a serious bloodbath to make your ally an invincible killing machine. It doesn't give enough benefits to be an important event and it happens rarely.

Shoutout to user kraeutersammler, who suggested to write down The Hunt is On! in detail.
Thank you again.

Tips and Tricks

A few tricks that might help you during your evolution in the jungle.
- If you have Mecha Kha'Zix you can hear a beeping noise when an enemy becomes isolated, it's useful because you know instantly when an enemy is near you when you are not paying attention (Sound plays from enemies so if they are not on your screen, the sound won't be as loud, or you won't even hear it.)
- With evolved Void Assault you can brainmelt the enemy, 3 seconds of invisibility and some bush tactics are just awesome to pull of and watch.
- You are very mobile with your resets. Get those Pentakills. "Hop, skip, jump" - Annie ^^

Patch (7.22)

Patch 7.22

Pre-Season is here. Go read the patch notes.

Changes to Kha'Zix are the following:
- Armor is now 36 from 27, adjusted with +9 for losing our Armor Yellows
- Base AD is now 63 from 55.21, again because we lost our old Runes.
- Touch ups on Unseen Threat, Taste Their Fear and Void Spike you can count the increase on two hands.

Good luck on the Rift in this Pre-Season.

Summary

To sum it up.

Kha'Zix is a high mobility, high damage Assassin, who is best at picking of enemies one by one. The missing health damage on evolved Taste Their Fear got scrapped, still deals a lot of damage, but Riot made it up by the awesome buffs to evolved Void Assault. He is very fun to play due to his predatory play style and resets with evolved Leap.

This is all that I could share with you guys. I hope you like my (first) guide and I would realy appreciate if you could send me some feedback. For example if you downvote please tell me what made you downvote, because if you don't, then I can't improve my guide. So really, tell me what you didn't like. If you downvote and than tell me nothing I cannot change anything.
