Udyr Passive Ability
Introducion
-Hello and welcome to another of my guides, this time, featuring Udyr,The Animal Spirit.
In this common guide, i'll show you my way of jungling and roaming with him, gonna represent you some tricks, as well as my jungle route and other basic/detailed stuff.
- Udyr is one hell of a ganker too, considering that he has Blazing Stampede which is a extremely potent ability not only for ganking, but for disabling and catching off runners.
- Its good to say that there are no many champions that can act a significant number of roles, but Udyr suits them perfectly. He can be built into Tank, AP with Lich Bane, pure AD-Dps champion, but on this guide, i will try to teach you to succesfully master Jungling Udyr.
This ability is called Bridge Between. Udyr's attack speed is increased by 10% and dodge chance by 3% for 5 seconds each time he switches stances. This effect can stack up to 3 times. Switching stances sets off a 1.5 second global cooldown.
This here is Udyr's Q, AKA his 1st ability. On activation, Udyr's next attack will deal magic damage over 2 seconds. In addition, Udyr gains an attack speed buff for 5 seconds. This stacks additively with his persistent attack speed bonus. As a persistent effect, his attack speed will passively increased for 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 %.
I usually master this skill 1st, for extremely fast jungling.
This is Iron Mantle. On activation, he enters a defensive stance and gains a shield that absorbs damage for 5 seconds or until it has absorbed the full amount of damage. As a persistent effect, his attacks cannot crit, but they restore a percentage of his damage as health and mana.
I max this skill last because i dont receive alot of damage early game at all. Though its good for ignoring the damage dealth by monsters.
This ability is called Blazing Stampede. On activation, Udyr gains increased movement speed for a few seconds. As a persistent effect, he mauls his enemies with such force that they are stunned for 1 second when they are hit. This effect can only occur once every 6 seconds on the same target. I max this 3rd because i really think that ulti has more purpose early, in jungle then this ability. However, without this spell, Udyr would be like post-nerfed Evelynn. Udyr's true ganking potential actually lies in this spell, considering that the enemy affected by it gets stunned for a short time.
Wingborne Storm. When activated, Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing magic damage each second to nearby enemies for 5 seconds. During this time Udyr's ability power and attack damage are increased.
As a persistent effect, Every third attack he unleashes, will engulf the enemies in front of him in flames, dealing magic damage. I max this for easier jungling early game.
- NOTES
- Udyr has only 18 maxing points instead of 20.
- Switching stances initiates a global cooldown of 1.5 seconds on all of his skills
- On seals i placed 9 armour runes for reduced damage received from minions. These are common and elementary runes for every jungler in game. Well, nearly every.
- As glyphs, i took 9 MR Per Level runes. Again, all credits go toWhiteJarate. I was examining those and i actually realized that they're better when used on Udyr because he needs MR late game more then early game considering that he has Iron Mantle which is good at start but weak on late game.
- I took Fortitude Quints(Flat Health runes) for increased durablity.
Realmrider, why no 21-0-9 or 21-9-0?
Offensive masteries have about 3 or 4 really useful masteries. But the rest sucks! So to take 4 in price of 21? Hell no.
9 points are spent on utility for some nice regen bonuses, and of course increased buff duration.
- Primary Choices:
This is primary and main choice for every Jungler. It deals massive damage to enemy minion, so its awesome for fast jungling.
I decided to pick exhaust as a primary spell because when combining with Blazing Stampede and Trinity Force's passive - nobody escapes you.
- Viable choices
This spell suits everybody. It lets you flee, catch, overwall etc.
I sometimes take Teleport, and especially if i feel that i will need to visit solo laner often.
Honestly, i take this spell depending on my mood. It adds some extra damage, but not that useful late game.
Other spells are...No
- CORE BUILD:
Lets do an explanation on every item particulary:
Wriggle's Lantern - This item is a Must-Buy on every jungler these days. It gives you a nice early game AD bonus of about 23 i think and some nice armour to prevent monsters dealing some damage to you at all! Passive is an explanation for a jungling item by it's self - 20% chance to deal 500 damage on enemy minion or monster. Sweet :)
Oh yes, and buying this item is practically unlimited source of wards.
Mobility Boots - I was reckoning to put Ninja Tabi but i realized that i want to roam and move fast around the Map. Those boots will certainly do the thing i need.
Wit's End - This item is rarely bought, yes. The reason i picked it is that im building an offtank Udyr who needs something to resist stuff like Pillar of Flame or Two-Shiv Poison. Plus, this item will give me an additional 40% Attack Speed, and thats A LOT. You will shread your targets with this item, and in same time stay unhurt.
Trinity Force - This item will increase most of your stats for a small amount. Pretty sweet. But the real reason i took this item is it's passive. After i activate my Blazing Stampede and hit the target - it will be stunned. And then next attack will be extremely powerfull, and just imagine if you enter Wilding Claw; you will unleash practically over 1k damage in just 1 second. Thats a lot really.
Randuin's Omen - I dont like to go purely offensive, so i had to pop in any defensive item. I picked Randuin's because i think it's really awesome. 1st it's chance to slow the target is just sweet. When combining with Triforce's chance for slow, you will mostly unleash slowing attacks. Next thing - Health, Health Regen and Armour bonuses. This will make you a real offtanking AD/Dps champion but with still low AD.
Black Cleaver - I took this item for extra Attack Damage and Attack Speed, but the real reason i took this item is it's passive effect. On every basic attack, you will reduce your target's armour by 15 and it'll stack up to 3 times. That is awesome, considering that Udyr deals damage extremely fast.
- SITUATIONAL BUILDS
- If the enemy team has a lot of AD champions, then go this build:
If the enemy team has a lot of AP Casters or any kind of AP champions, then go this build:
I start off with Cloth Armor and a few pots. I proceed to minigolem camp, then wraiths, and wolves. Then another wraiths and another wolves. Then i kill red and finally blue. After that i look for a gank or i just go back into base for new items.
When roaming, after i have both buffs, i wait for bottom laners to push for a while. Then i open up with Iron Mantle and immediatelly i stun with Blazing Stampede. I wait for my teammates to exhaust and i auto-attack till dead with Wilding Claw. If he survives in any case, i just dive or pop another exhaust. Then i proceed to gank mid, from backdoor. Start off again with Iron Mantle and when close to him pop your ulti. Then stun him with E and finish with Wilding Claw.
After you do both mid and bottom wait for 1 minute for enemy to calm down. Have your Exhaust ready and hide in top river bush. Wait for your teammate to bait and then open up with Wilding Claw. Then enter Iron Mantle and immediatelly after Exhaust. Activate ulti and finish with Blazing Stampede and with basic attacks.
I usually always happen to buy a few sight wards in my inventory, just to be sure where is enemy jungler going or when/who wants to gank the ally lane. There are few key locations where i always place green Wards.
- Enemy/Ally blue*
- Enemy/Ally red*
- Dragon's Cave*
- Nashor's Cave*
- Inner bush on mid(Next to Wraith Camp)- Both enemy and ally
- Bushes behind Wolves' Camp - Both enemy and ally
- Inner bushes on middle of mid*
- Bushes on Top/Bot where we all hide to gank*
- Crossroads on Nashor-->Blue and Dragon-->Blue*
- The bush close to Urf's Grave(Both ally and enemy)
- Mini Golem
Ok, i think thats it. You dont have to ward all of those, but remember:
" - Buy a ward, save a life "
- Early Game
Start up with Cloth Armor and for rest of the gold buy pots. Go follow my jungle route and look for a succesfull gank. Targets like Ashe or Twitch are just fine to gank. After about 13 minutes of jungling/roaming go back and buy Madred's and if you, by chance, picked up a kill or even assist, buy Wriggle's. If not, just buy Madred's and miniboots.
Then keep doing the same route and gank oftenly untill u collect same amount of gold, big enough for Mobility Boots. At this point, you can buy The Brutalizer for some additional damage.
- Mid Game
At this point, you should have the following: Wriggle's Lantern, Mobility Boots and Wit's End.
Start with building Trinity Force. Buy Phage 1st and then Zeal and Sheen at last. You should buy this item fast. Really fast. Then just buy your Randuin's Omen from gold earned from taking down farming carries on bottom or top.
Don't forget to buy wards all the time.
Go kill Nashor when it's about 25th-30th minute.
- Late Game
At this point of game, the gold will just flow in your pocket. Go buy that Cleaver really fast. Now forget about roaming, focus on teamfighting for getting closer to the end.
If the game longers out, you may sell Wriggle's Lantern and buy a situational item depending of enemy team. Ex. if it's too squishy, go for Infinity Edge. If they are tanky, go buy Madred's Bloodrazor. If they are hard AP team, then buy Force of Nature.
