Early game you want to just cs, which means to kill minions for anyone who doesn't know, and not make any big plays. Make sure to ward in river, since top lane is a favorite for the jungler to gank. I wouldn't push past the bush in river.

Mid game you should be pretty strong. Making some big plays is great at this time, when you have about 3 to 4 full items. Try to end game during mid game, since graves becomes weaker during late game.

If you have somehow extended the game to where you have a full build, be careful. During mid game graves is incredibly strong and is usually ahead in items compared to everyone else, but late game everyone has their full build and mages and assassins are a serious threat to graves.
