We want to do add as much as possible damage with masteries. Taking only 7 points in utility for increased experience and increased mana/health regen.
You might think "Why the mastery point on Ignite, it gives only 10 Ability power when its on cooldown???", that is for first blood. (Read later under "First Blood Help")
I don't suggest following the item buy sequence 100% the same. In some situations you will need other items like in this cases:
Feeded high damage champion?
In this cases its mostly a Tryndamere or a Xin Zhao. We want to reduce that but how? I suggest buying a Thornmail or a Guardian Angel or both. The extra armor does wonders in a 1v1.
Feeded ability power hero?
It's either a Katarina or a Karthus mostly. In this cases they're ap is over 500 or 600 it will still do a lot of damage that's why we want to give Nocturne much damage and magic resist buying a Quicksilver Sash and/or a Guardian Angel will make them run from you.
Q is your main damage source and we want to have it at max damage early. The extra movement speed on the trail is great following on your target and cleaning up minion ways together with your Umbra Blades, makes Nocturne a great carry. We will use this as a getaway in combination with your other spells. Like your W that avoids a spell. Nocturne is a getaway god for me, so much time on low health and so much times getting called a lucker.
E second it does magic damage and it fears your enemy and is a great CC(Crowd Control). But why on level 1 and not Q on level 1?(Read "First BloodHelp"). It won't do that damage but it's great on finishing of other champions.
W last. We will use this mostly only for defending and sometimes on destroying turets. This with combination with Banshee's Veil makes you hard to damage even on 1vs2 or 1vs3(Imagine the frustration of the other players seeing you avoid they're ultimate)
Use your W to avoid any stun, slow or anything else then use your Q to get extra speed. If his still after you fear him with your E and he will just watch how he you are running away.
Low on HP and mana!?
Hope you get enough mana for your W to avoid at least 1 atack. Hopefully there will be a turet or a team mate near you to help you out of this situation.
Else...
Nocturne is very useless with no mana like all other mana champions. Recall or use mana pots or clarity if you get low on mana. With no mana you will be a easy target to others even with full HP.
