Draven
The Draven match-up is difficult, due to your low range and his ability to punish you getting close is annoying to say the least. You want to harass him as much as possible through the creeps with your Piercing Light and then with a coordinated attack with your support (or a jungle gank) all-in the Draven.

Lucian is an AD based Bottom Lane Marksman, with high sustained damage as well as exceptional trading and all-in potential. Lucians' strengths lie in his reliable and potent power spikes and the surprisingly high amount of damage that they bring to the table, these power spikes allow for Lucian to snowball the game when ahead, or comeback into the game fairly easily when behind. His remarkable ability to deal stupendous amounts of damage in quick succession make Lucian a top-tier ADC.

|
|
Lucian is an exceptionally impactful and feared champion throughout all stages of the game.
His mechanically rewarding skill-set gives him a lot of outplay potential in skirmishes.

★ Skill Sequence ★
Each ability of Lucians' kit allows him to proc his passive, making combining his abilities properly fundamental to his success in the game. Lucian has burst, sustained damage and high mobility and retains this throughout the game. His skill set is very balanced and synergize well with each other, enabling him to be very adaptable to different scenarios and circumstances.
There is one universally accepted build of maxing Q then E and finally W (taking ultimate whenever possible). The only variation is in the level 3 skill of either Q or W.
Piercing Light is your bread-and-butter main damage spell, use it to harass, skirmish and push. With it's low cool-down, and very spam friendly spell allowing you to deal significant sustained damage, which scales heavily with bonus AD: up to 120% at max level.
Ardent Blaze is a useful asset to your kit allowing you to chase well and gain useful vision to check bushes. It is also an excellent tool to help you activate your passive to deal even more sustained damage in quick succession.
Relentless pursuit is Lucian's only escape and chase ability. Using this to dodge skill-shots, as well as resetting your auto-attack timer is paramount to being successful on Lucian.

MAGIC RESIST GLYPHS are our primary choice for the glyph category. Usually they are needed due to marksmen not usually incorporating too much magic resist into their build past Mercurial Scimitar, hence the lack of MR makes marksmen highly susceptible to being burst down by any AP mage or assassin.

Fervor of Battle
works tremendously well with Lucian's kit due to his reliance on using spells while incorporating auto-attacks in-between spell casting. His passive allows him to proc two auto-attacks in the space of one, allowing him easily to stack Fervor of Battle by using any spell then auto-attacking once with his passive.
|
space |
Bounty Hunter
allows you to receive a maximum of 5% increased Attack Damage once you have killed all members of the opposing team at least once. This is extremely effective as you progress through your items, especially if you get the first dragon buff which gives you an additional 6% Attack Damage buff, totaling to 11% increased AD.
|
space |
Dangerous Game
is an extremely useful mastery that allows you to survive a plethora of situations. Most notably it allows you to survive Ignite a lot of the times, which will undoubtedly be focused on you the majority of time. It's a great tool for sustainability as well as surviving in fights.

★ Itemization ★
Starting Items
DORAN'S BLADE
Starting with Doran's Blade is universally accepted by Marksmen Mains as the best, most cost-efficient item to purchase at the start. It provides excellent brawling stats with its added HP, Attack Damage and Lifesteal. It gives a marksman everything they need to survive through the early game; the weakest part of their game.
|
LONG SWORD
Starting with Long Sword and 3 Health Potions is an acceptable, but sub par starting item build. It gives you two more Attack Damage and an additional 300HP Regen. This is not worth sacrificing 80HP and 3% lifesteal which are applicable to all stages of the game outside of laning phase. However it does allow you to build Essence Reaver faster.
|
CULL
Starting with Cull is perhaps the weakest start you can purchase. The effective gold of +400 is not worth the sacrifice you have to make in the laning stage. It does not provide any survivability stats and provides less-than-acceptable combat stats with only +5 Attack Damage Given, far less superior to Doran's Blade.
|
Core Items
BERSERK GREAVES |
space |
Berserker's Greaves synergize extremely well with your dependence on your auto-attacks to deal consistent damage. The attack speed allows you to make ease of tanks and squishy champions alike. These will be your go-to pair of boots in most scenarios, as your reliance on auto-attacks gets more and more important towards the later stages of the game.
|
ESSENCE REAVER |
space |
The new Essence Reaver almost single-handedly brought Lucian to one of the best ADC's of Season 6. It's synergy with Lucian is unmatched, with his ability to critically strike on second auto attacks from his passive. His reliance on casting multiple spells and his mana-intensive playstyle makes essence reaver an excellent pickup, giving him the ability to cast more spells frequently with reduced cool-down, as well as more mana to do so.
|
RAPID F-CANNON |
space |
Rapid Firecannon is a superb choice for Lucian as it counteracts his weakness of having low range. The burst as well as killing-blow potential this item provides is incomparable to any other item. This item allows Lucian to position better in teamfights as well as siege turrets more easily.
|
INFINITY EDGE |
space |
Infinity Edge has always been an excellent pickup on any ADC with its ability to accelerate their DPS significantly. It synergizes particularly well with Lucian's kit and build. Firstly due to its interaction with Essence Reaver giving him more critical chance and hence mana potential. As well as having the ability to critically strike with his passive secondary auto-attack, boosting his damage tremendously.
|
MERC SCIMITAR |
space |
Mercurial Scimitar has been buffed significantly with an addition of lifesteal to its stats, as well as a much easier build path. This makes it much more viable as a pickup, as the lifesteal makes it much more beneficial towards the late game. Its main purpose retains its use as a cleanse for crowd-control and is almost a necessity in all games currently.
|
BLOOD THIRSTER |
space |
Bloodthirster is a excellent sustain item as well as providing eminent Attack Damage as well. The over-shield it provides is an excellent addition to your build if you find yourself being bursted down by mages such as LeBlanc. The main purpose however is to allow you to lifesteal health back during teamfights, as well as heal back up after them, to push.
|
Situational Items
MAW OF MALMORT |
space |
Maw of Malmortius is a very situational pickup should you find yourself against a heavy AP team-composition. Its new passive makes it much more viable and suited towards ADCs, but is still not as enticing as Bloodthirster or Mercurial Scimitar in most cases. If you find yourself vs champions such as Annie, LeBlanc or Ahri, consider picking this up.
|
STERAK'S GAGE |
space |
Sterak's Gage is becoming an increasingly popular item for ADC as it is a early-mid game focused item which gives you a lot of survivability as well as combat stats. The 500HP and shield makes you considerably healthier in teamfights and deters enemies from solely focusing on you. The +25% base damage is a very welcomed addition to the item, making it not only a defensive item, adding to the damage of your auto-attacks and spells.
|
BANSHEE VEIL |
space |
Banshee's Veil is becoming sub-par comparatively, with no new significant buffs or changes. It is still very good vs poke-heavy compositions with the ability to negate a lot of damage. The +500 Health as well as +70 Magic Resist make this a good item for surviving, but not much else, consider heavily other options of Mercurial Scimitar or Maw of Malmortius before deciding to take this.
|
GUARDIAN ANGEL |
space |
Guardian Angel is a situational pickup should you find yourself being focused a lot and not being able to retaliate. The time this item buys your team and the ability to reset teamfights is invaluable in certain situations, and can make the difference come hyper-late game.
|
STATIKK SHIV |
space |
Statikk Shiv is an alternative to Rapid Firecannon for when your team lacks wave-clear. This item doesn't provide you the much-needed range boost that the alternative provides, so that is why this isn't picked up as much. But should you find yourself without any wave-clear this item is almost a necessity.
|
LORD D's REGARDS |
space |
Lord Dominik's Regards is a noteworthy pickup if the enemy have a lot of heavily stacked armor/health champions. eg. Dr. Mundo, Shen, Sion. Sometimes they are able to stack too much armor for you to shred through, so this item will allow you to deal significantly more damage to the frontline.
|
PHANTOM DANCER |
space |
Phantom Dancer is able to be purchased if you feel inclined to having more critical chance as well as attack speed. It should also be considered when you find yourself facing off in 1v1's a lot throughout the game with its helpful damage mitigation. Lucian doesn't benefit too much from extra attack speed, as his spell-weaving playstyle doesn't allow him to sit and auto-attack to a large degree.
|
TRINITY FORCE |
space |
Trinity Force is an good choice if you are snowballing heavily and can purchase legendary items with ease. It's a mixed bag of goods providing you excellent stats, but they are all not utilized efficiently by Lucian, especially because of the addition of Essence Reaver. Despite this, it is still a noteworthy pickup should you find yourself wanting to deal even more damage.
|
Boots and Enchantments
NINJA TABI
Ninja Tabi are a very situational pickup if the enemy is solely AD based. The flat reduction of auto-attack damage helps you fight against these AD champions and retains its usefulness throughout all stages of the game, especially late game.
|
MERCURY'S TREADS
Mercury's Treads are similar to Ninja Tabi but for AP based compositions. If the enemy team have a lot of AP and/or Crowd Control, Mercury's treads can be considered to mitigate the damage/crowd control.
