Introduction

Sup guys. My name is joxuu and this is my first MOBAfire guide of
Renekton the nemesis of
Nasus.
I have played
Renekton for really long time now and I find him amazing, especially early-mid game. Most of the guides tell you how you build tanky
Renekton, but this guide will show you, that he is also good AD.
Please give it a try :>
Champion Spotlight
Summary
in a faraway world,
Renekton was born a member of a race of bestial guardians created to serve as the rulers and protectors of their people. Alongside his brother
Nasus,
Renekton oversaw the upkeep of the Great Library, which served as both a vault of ancient knowledge and the repository of the teachings of the Cycle of Life and Death. While
Nasus taught those scholars who came to study,
Renekton served as the Great Library’s gatekeeper. He could sense the true natures of those who sought
Nasus' teachings, and he sent away those with dark ambitions. Over time, however, his repeated exposure to this evil infected his mind. He grew furious with the malevolence in the hearts of men, and as he descended deeper into madness, he discovered he could quell the fury by cutting the evil from the men who possessed it. Unfortunately, the relief was as short-lived as the subjects, and the “butcher’s rage”, as it came to be known, would resurge ever stronger.
Consumed by his anger,
Renekton turned on the one being who could defeat him -- his own brother.
Nasus pleaded with
Renekton to see reason. Realizing that he was beyond redemption, the despondent
Nasus valiantly struck down his wayward sibling. Defenseless,
Renekton waited eagerly for death’s release. It never came. He was spared when summoners from the League of Legends claimed his brother. Caught in the wake of this powerful spell,
Renekton tumbled for what seemed like ages between realities. When he finally emerged, he was deep in the sewers of Zaun. Insane with fury,
Renekton languished in his newfound home, driven senseless by his rage. That is until, by happenstance, he caught a familiar scent on the air. Believing that the familiar scent would guide him to the solace which was fading from his memory, he traced his brother to the Institute of War.

Greater Seal of Armor 9 |
Greater Glyph of Magic Resist 9 |
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage 9 |
||||||||||||
Greater Mark of Strength - Pick this simply, because it gives much more damage early game.
Greater Seal of Resilience - This will help you lane and get those minion kills, also helps later on, at late game.
Greater Glyph of Warding - Same as above. Will help you lane if you're going against AP and helps against those minions again. You can also go for
Greater Quintessence of Strength - This will give you INSANE damage in early game! You certainly must have it on
Masteries
The mastery is for damage for early game and some defensive
for some early-game defense, not much of it, but they do help.
Those will relief the early game squishiness.
These are a must have for more tankier
Gives the defense that benefit's a lot especially early game, but will also effect in a nice way later on.
Summoner spells

This really blackouts enemies during duels and helps chasing enemies a lot. |
space |
This helps you for the last hits for the kills early-game. |
space |
This helps you chase down the enemy, or just use it for escape. Deffinately worth of picking, if you're not happy with |
Abilities
Early-Mid
Renekton
More Tankier

Reign of Anger [Passive] - This gives
Also if you have 50% or more, it will give some nice extra bonuses for

Cull the Meek [Q] - This is
Use this to last longer in the lane and do some damage & farm the minions
and can be used to push and when escaping, you can use this while running without loosing any speed, so you can heal yourself if possible while escaping.

Ruthless Predator [W] - Good stun that helps

Slice and Dice [E] - Really awesome escape & dashing skill. It has a small range alone, but if you hit an enemy with slice, you can use it again dice. This allows you to chase up to people. It doesn't do that much damage, so I prefer not to use it much for damage, but it does decrease armor, if fury is aabove 50%.
This skill is the cherry top of the cake, for early-game harass.

Dominus [R] - Ultimate very similiar to
Hes ultimate allows you to easily dive in next to tower and kill enemies counting that you can't kill them, but you can prove them wrong!
Items & Their explanations (Strong Early-Mid)
Boots of Speed & 3x Health potion - They will help you lane in the beginning and allows you to escape and chase + harass the enemy better.
The Brutalizer
Will give you more early cooldown reduction, which is really awesome along with boots of lucidity. It gives you also early damage and 15 armor penetration, all that for such a cheap price is insane, you can buy boots before brutalizer, if you feel that you really need them.
Inion boots of Lucidity - Will give you the extra speed for harassing & chasing, but it's really for it's cooldown reduction.
Youmuus Ghostblade - Quite cheap, for the bonuses it gives.
provides really nice active that gives you the missing attack speed, more movement speed for chasing, slightly more cooldown reduction, damage & armor penetration.
Frozen Mallet
Gives you a great amount of health and gives you permanent slow! Will allow you to chase down the enemies more easily and also gives you some attack damage.
Bloodthirster - Will help you lane longer and farm those minions, it's attack damage is also very good, which gives a lot boost for your
Guardian Angel
Should give you enough armor and magic resistance, to last longer in teamfights & gives the missing survivalibity. You can pick this before Bloodthirster, if you are getting targetted a lot, but I doubt that, since if you use
Last whisper can be used to destroy tanks if they have a lot of armour, like
Situational items
Warmog's armor, Force of Nature, Sunfire Cape, Randuinds Omen and Guardian Angel You can choose actually any of these, if your team does not have a real tank. They all provide good armour, health or magic resistance, depending about the enemy team.
You may also want to go for
Madred's Bloodrazor
Can be picked for the same reason as you would choose
Doran's blades
Are wise choice early game, if you haven't done well. Doran's blade give you early life steal and damage that can be useful while farming.
Black Cleaver
Couldn't fit in my core items, but it can be useful, to provide the attack speed you're missing, without counting the active from youmuu's. Can be picked if enemy team doesn't really have a proper tank.
Items & Their explanations (Basic Tanky)
Boots of Speed & 3x Health potion - They will help you lane in the beginning and allows you to escape and chase + harass the enemy better.
The Brutalizer
Is amazing item for early game, since it's really cheap and grants some attack bonus, but also cooldown reduction & armor penetration. This item can be replaced tough, for example by
Inion boots of Lucidity - Will give you the extra speed for harassing & chasing, but it's really for the cooldown reduction.
Sunfire Cape
will get you in the real way of tankiness. It provides nice armor bonus and the extra health points will go in good use. Also 35 damage AoE is quite a lot early game.
Frozen Mallet
Gives you a great amount of health and gives you permanent slow! Will allow you to chase down the enemies more easily and also gives you some attack damage.
Atmas Impaler
Transforms your healths into attack damage! The healths from
Guardian Angel
Gives you both armor and magic resistance, which you don't have much, but now you do.
It's effect is also very nice, it can save your life, with the revive it grants.
Situational items
Force of Nature
Grants you rest of the missing magic resistance and it's health regeneration is nice, while you may be farming minions. So pick this if you have lot's of AP against you.
Maw of Malmortius
If they have really many powerful AP champions, this may safe your life
several times and grant you some attack power to fight back better!
Randuin's Omen and Warmog's armor
Can replace
Wit's end can be picked if enemy team has many AP champions and if you feel like going for the kills, choose
Last whisper can be used to destroy tanks if they have a lot of armour, like
Bloodthirster - Will help you lane longer and farm those minions, it's attack damage is also very good, which gives a lot boost for your
2x Doran's blades
Can be picked early, if you haven't done well. Doran's blade give you early life steal and damage + health that can be useful while farming.
Ranked Gameplay
The second build of
Renekton in team 1 is more for the ranked plays.
It's more unpredictable, but also effective. The idea came from a friend.
Renekton isn't used often in ranked plays, but he can do fine there.
Situational items, depending about what the enemy team has:
Guardian Angel /
Last Whisper /
Force of Nature or
Infinity Edge
Early-Game Harassing
Very simple guide how you harass them.
Get all your 3 abilities unlocked as fast as you can.
1. Use
Slice and Dice to dive trough minions.
2. Quickly use
Ruthless Predator and stun him (try to have over 50% fury for the extra dmg and stun).
3. Then use
Cull the Meek for hp and damage.
4. Finally use
Slice and Dice to get out. While enemy is stunned, he really can't come chasing after you.
Gameplay
Early game, try to get to lvl 3 as fast as you can, the health pots will help you a lot.
Farm minions and get those last hits. After you have reached level 3, use the harass tactic that is posted above.
Slice and Dice in, stun with
Ruthless Predator, use
Cull the Meek for health and damage,
Slice and Dice out. Try get in same lane with a long-range champion, AP for example. Don't seek for supporters since your stun can help your teammate to take out the champion if you're unable to. Supporter would just take hits.
At mid game, you should have some attack damage already and your
Ruthless Predator will do insane amount of damages. Use it for ganking and for harassing. your
Cull the Meek should be around max at this point so it gives a lot of health, so you don't really have to stay back in fights.
Tanks are your worst enemies, don't go fight them alone, unless you have armor penetration items.
Late game is the worst time for
Renekton, but these items should really allow you to do lot's of damage. In the end your
Ruthless Predator, which does around 900 damage! Try ganking a lot and don't afraid to activate dominius early.
This is pretty much what a Tankier Renekton can do, but not as effectively.
Team work
In teamfights,
Renekton doesn't get targetted very often.
Use your ultimate dominius and stun them with
Ruthless Predator
let your teammates do some damage and then use
Cull the Meekfor last hit and healths.
You should be using
Slice and Dice very often, so you don't get targetted.
Renekton Is really good at killing carries and after that supporters, so target them first!
Why you don't jungle with Renekton.
Many people say, that
Renektonis a good jungler and you should go for that build.
It's true that
Renekton can jungle, but there is so many champions that are way better in jungling. For example:
Olaf,
Shaco,
Udyr and so many more.
Renekton can have hard times jungling in the beginning and it's just not worth of it.
Jungling items first of all are not that effective and
Renekton is way better laner and even more awesome solo top.
So people, stop jungling with
Renekton!
Pictures & Screenshots
25 minutes and the enemy surrendered
I picked youmuu's and bloodthirster first and chose to build Frozen Mallet as third, because they had all Tank / AP build so I wanted to go for the kills.
Was going against
Vladimir Dr Mundo
Amumu
Teemo
Cassiopeia
So it was quite easy for me to get the kills.

Didn't do that well, but we still won and I ended up with positive score.

All-around champion gameplays :D
Feel free to post a screenshot and I will post them here under your name.
