Introduction

Have you ever wondered why your Rengar lacks sustain/damage? Probably not. Anyways, when I bought Rengar I tried top rated jungle builds and came in to a conclusion that Rengar is pure ***** because I couldn't survive or deal damage. Even blue golem was a problem for me (after I had cleared all other camps) and it really pissed me off because when enemy team picks Rengar in blind pick and I'm playing solo he will be fed and he single-handedly rapes my team.

After few minutes of thinking I found good way to play Rengar in jungle without wasting my money on unnecessary items and I'm talking about the importance of early Guardian Angel.

I hope you guys enjoy this little build and try to be open minded 'cause I will explain everything later on. Let's keep this short eh?

Pros / Cons

PROS:
+ Awesome ganker
+ Awesome bush juking
+ Awesome sustain with W
+ Correctly used ulti guarantees kill/escape
+ GA rush = no focus = enemy is ****** terrified
+ No mana!

CONS:
- If enemy top lane is tanky and their jungler has good mobility Rengar will be easily counter ganked pre lvl6 (like malph, lee sin combo or yorick, eve)
- WILL BE FOCUSED without GA
- Needs "Jamaica Rengar" skin
- No AOE ( Tiamat is not an option)

Skills

Unseen Predator (Passive) - While in brush or stealth, Rengar will leap at the target when using his basic attack. Rengar builds 1 Ferocity with each ability he uses on enemies. When reaching 5 Ferocity, Rengar's next ability becomes empowered, granting it a bonus effect.
Range: 600 or 750 with 9 trophies on Bonetooth Necklace

This is one of the best passives in the game. You can leap from any bush and even after few milliseconds you leave the bush. Using ferocity correctly takes some practice because you'll have to use skill bonus effects depending on the situation like Savagery bonus for offensive situations or Bola Strike to pin down your enemy for escape etc.

Savagery - Rengar's next basic attack deals bonus damage and grants him increased attack speed for 3 seconds.
Cooldown: 8 / 7.5 / 7 / 6.5 / 6 seconds
Physical Damage: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+1.0 per attack damage)
Attack Speed Bonus: 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 %

Empowered Savagery - Savagery deals bonus damage equal to 150% of Rengar's attack damage, and the Attack Speed bonus is doubled.
Cost: 5 Ferocity
Physical Damage: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+2 per attack damage)
Attack Speed Bonus: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 %

This skill is your main damage dealer and you don't need big brains to see that. Three times in a row used on hit effects applying skill will devastate every single carry in few seconds.

Battle Roar - Rengar lets out a battle roar, damaging enemies and gaining bonus armor and magic resist for 3 seconds.
Cooldown: 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 / 11 seconds
Magic Damage: 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+0.8 per ability power)
Bonus Armor & Magic Resist: 15 / 22 / 29 / 36 / 43

Empowered Battle Roar - Battle Roar also heals Rengar for 15% of his maximum health.
Cost: 5 Ferocity
Magic Damage: 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220 (+1.0 per ability power)
Bonus Armor & Magic Resist: 15 / 22 / 29 / 36 / 43

You find this skill most useful when farming minions/clearing jungle. Also the bonus armor and MR you gain is sick combined with Guardian Angel bonuses. I've been many times in a situation where my hp is one hit away from 0 and Caitlyn tries to ulti me but Empowered Battle Roar saves me with its heal and armor bonus.

Bola Strike - Rengar throws a bola at his target, slowing them for 2.5 seconds. The slow decays over the duration.
Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds
Physical Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.7 per bonus attack damage)
Slow: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 %

Empowered Bola Strike - Bola Strike initially roots his target for 1 second. The slow is applied in full after the 1 second, and decays over the remaining 1.5 seconds. Crowd control reduction will reduce each duration separately.
Cost: 5 Ferocity
Physical Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.7 per bonus attack damage)
Slow: 50 / 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 %

This will make you feel bad for the enemy and enemy will hate you for it. Minimum slow amount is 50% which I consider monstrous and no one will never EVER gets away from you.

Thrill of the Hunt (Ultimate) - Rengar activates his predatory instincts, stealthing and revealing all enemy Champions in a large radius around him. He gains movement speed and generates 1 Ferocity per 0.75s while stealthed. Lasts 5 seconds or until he uses an ability.
Vision Radius: 2000 / 3000 / 4000
Cooldown: 140 / 105 / 70 seconds
Movement Speed Bonus: 20 / 25 / 30 %

Pure hardcore. Five sec invisibility guarantees escape/kill and reveals champions near to you. After Evelynn's passive stealth this is the best. If enemy is pushing hard (lets play that Morde is pushing top) you can use ghost and ultimate before entering the river so you will dodge wards = free elo.

Masteries

OFFENSIVE:

This is vital for your Ghost. Nuff said.

Even more AD for the maximum jungle speed and gank brutality.

I chose this over Lethality because jungle speed is more important than late game critical damage after getting Trinity Force.

Will rise your DPS a lot in the start.

10% armor penetration is just truly monstrous so why the **** not.

More AD? Seriously? If you insist Mr. Offensive tree.

Will add a nice bonus to Vampiric Scepter

There's never enough penetration so take it.

That 10% might just be the reason for your first blood.

DEFENSIVE:

Extra gold will go into good use.

Will give you some staring sustain in jungle which is totally worth it!

Also absolute MUST for jungling.

Dunno how scars help getting extra hp but thank god YES!

Runes

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist x9 - I recommend these glyphs more than anything else. These + Guardian Angel gives you enough MR to go in the "I don't give a **** about your magic" mode.

Greater Mark of Attack Damage x4 - With these and your AD quintessences you will have 10 AD which will help you in clearing camps and taking that first blood.

grater mark of desolation x5 - These will penetrate enemy's armor and with your mastery Sunder and bonetooth necklace stacks you will get enough armor penetration for mid game.

Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage x3 - I told you about these in the mark section. 10AD in start with these and marks will really hurt minions.

Greater Seal of Armor x9 - Will be huge help in start! Champions and jungle mobs will do a lot less damage.

Summoner Spells

and are a MUST. You can try Flash but your Thrill of the Hunt and passive Unseen Predator works better with ghost. We are now focusing in jungle roaming so replacing Ghost with Exhaust or Ignite will **** up your mobility and ganks against witty opponents are useless. Never go to jungle WITHOUT Smite! Please I beg you. I have seen few Rengars trying to jungle with Heal and.. ******** it was horrible. Just don't try it.

Items

  • are the only option because buying armor will slow you down and it takes time until you can use it in this build. you picked AD Quints so move speed will be necessary at the start. Health Potions will be used in jungle for sustain.

  • will help you in the jungle A LOT. After this you wont need potions in jungle because your W will heal you faster (before/after gank potions are totally OK). You will also have this ready for late game Bloodthirster.

  • After buying this you start to notice the damage and little hp bonus looks scary in the start. Luck slow is OK too. Good beginning for mid/late game Trinity Force.

  • Can be bought before or after phage depending on your play style ( Mercury's Treads for juking and AP sustain, Phage for aggressive style) oh and epic CC reduction! You should always buy these if enemy has any CC because if you don't have ultimate up you will be kited and soon you will have to buy new monitor.

  • Now you might ask "where is that ******** bonetooth necklace!?". Let's pretend that you are now lvl10 as I am usually when I have these items. I don't see the need for it because 800 gold for that **** will slow your Guardian Angel rush really bad. You WILL do enough damage with Phage for successful ganks etc. so be patient.

  • 2600 gold will be in your pocket before you have even thought of buying that bonetooth whatever. Enemy will **** bricks when you jump from the bush with white strings flowing all over the place. Your mission is to STAY ALIVE. If those strings go away enemy will instantly strike you down without hesitation. You need that hesitation! Fast GA means that you can tank a little while so enjoy being "immortal" while you can. Depending on how fed your enemy AP/ADC is you should buy even more armor for maximum horror because your Q will guarantee that horrid 500+ dmg ANYWAYS (passive Q, normal Q, ulti Q)! Many players won't even try to kill you when you have revive up so you will have psychological win situation. Guardian Angel also restores FLAT AMOUNT OF HP which means that you will come back in fight with 750hp no matter what level you are.

Here is a great video showing the greatness of Guardian Angel and some damn good bush juking!
  • bonetooth necklace Now it's time to buy that because you will start to get kills if you play smart and ks a little. It will also grant you some ad and makes killing somewhat more rewarding so "yay" I guess.

  • When you get this beast your Savagery will vanish enemy champions from the map back to their nexus. Why buy Trinity Force after Guardian Angel? Without defense your triforce is nothing because you will be focused and you will be squishy. Of course if you are patient player and prefer last hitting in first team fights you can buy this but.. I'm not recommending that for the sake of your team.

  • After you have Trinity Force you can either build Bloodthirster or more defensive items depending on what kind of team compilation you have. If you have nice bruiser team go for BT, if it's paper go for Thornmail/ Force of Nature. Let the carry hunt begin.

    !DEFENSE BEFORE DAMAGE!

Remember to variate this build order depending on how well/bad you are doing or then just buy Bloodthirster as fourth item if you are in the "Mr. Funny Guy" mood.

Now you are asking "where is that Wriggle's Lantern? Well nowhere because you will jungle enough fast due the greatness of smite.

Wriggle will help you jungle a bit faster but I think that by rushing Phage and Guardian Angel you will benefit more. If you skip bonetooth necklace and Wriggle's Lantern you will save almost 2000 gold for Phage and Mercury's Treads. I admit that Wriggle is good for dragon and baron but we are focusing on mid game madness.

After those items start with Chain Vest and then you are only 1,9k gold away from Guardian Angel!

    Mercury's Treads 1200g + Vampiric Scepter 450g + Phage 1315g + Guardian Angel 2600g = 5565g

I don't recommend Frozen Mallet either because: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    Pros:
    + 450 more HP
    + Cheaper
+ Slow (you can almost constantly Bola Strike enemy anyway and passive is enough good gap closer)

    Cons:
    - No damage
    - No crit
    - No movement speed
    - No nothing

    Pros:
+ Monstrous damage to your Savagery
    + Crit chance
+ MOVEMENT SPEED! Most important for Rengar
    + Slow

    Cons:
    - Slow is weaker than FM:s but lets not care about that.
    - 450 less hp
    - Costs 800g more (is that really a problem..?)

MOST OF THE DAMAGE COMES FROM YOUR Savagery SO Trinity Force IS THE ONLY ITEM WHICH WILL BOOST IT LIKE ****!
MOVE SPEED IS ESSENTIAL FOR CATCHING YOUR PREY SO IT WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED

    ATTENTION!!!

NEVER go Atmongs/Fratmas because without high armor/MR you will be just another easy kill for enemy in team fights and they are too expensive.

Some tactics

First of all: NEVER INITIATE unless you are extremely fed because enemy will CC you in instant and you either die or have to use Thrill of the Hunt to escape. Your team needs at least one bruiser or tank so you can hunt that Teemo in peace and vanish in the bushes for another squishy kill.

Early game

JUNGLE PATH: WRAITHS -> RED -> GOLEMS -> WRAITHS -> WOLVES -> BLUE

HOW TO PULL RED WELL?
- Tell to your AP carry to hurt the red from the bush behind red and that he/she should start to move zigzag so the buff cannot choose it's walking route. That way you can kill red without using potions.

You probably can't kill blue without pull so recall for Vampiric Scepter and take 1-2 potions just in case. If enemy team is really tanky, try farm a lot and when your team mate recalls, you go keep the lane up 'cause we don't wanna lose towers do we? Ganking can be hard against wise enemies so just focus on rushing lvl6. Don't wander between lanes too much!

You should be aware how well enemy countered your lanes or you. This build lacks armor in the start so you must be patient and careful.

Mid game

You have worked hard for that Guardian Angel and scaring the **** out of enemies! As Rengar you won't have problem with dealing damage and now ganks and team fights will go for your favor. If you get focused in team fight you should use Thrill of the Hunt in the middle of it. Doing this enemy lose focus for few fatal seconds and your team has time to make enough damage so you can few escaping champions down

Late game

After 30 minutes your main goal is to nuke dem carries. Never use ulti for initiation because you will need it to catch that flashingspringting Teemo. Even if enemy focuses you don't panic because that means your AD carry will go godlike. let that GA proc and go stealth for counterstrike!

Using this build = ???? = profit!

Here is few totally dominated games. Too bad they all were won by enemy surrender in 30 minutes so I never go the absolute beast build. Apologies for that.

Summoner name: ganjanat0r
In this game I was so fed that I went straight for Bloodthirster

Summary

I am not exceptional player or high elo but this build has took bush juking junglepolice awesomeness to a higher level. Rengar is really team dependant because if you lack communication and wit, you will be ******. Thx for your time and I hope that this inspired somehow. I'm playing with this build whenever I get the jungle so hopefully I find even better item order. Stay tuned.

I put this here just 4DaLulz.
My summoner name is ganjanat0r on EU Nordic & East.

If you have any suggestions or questions feel free to comment!

Special thanks for jhoijhoi for totally awesome guide for guides (this is my first one so give me mercy) and SivHD for the video that is reaching maximum awesomeness! (AP Rengar doesn't work anymore just for those that don't know that yet)
