Introduction - WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!, About me :3, and when to pick

Hello LoL community! Before you scroll to the bottom and put "Trololo this doesn't work", let me tell you- IT DOES!

ABOUT ME:


IGN: TheRandomGamer
Non-ranked, LvL 30.
Been playing League since May, 2012.
Going 3-3 in placement on ranked, but LeaverBuster fixed it to 3-1 because our APC left each time.
Main toplane , , and and Jungle and , but I can play all lanes! (I am suck support though).
This is my first ever guide anywhere, so please leave me comments and suggestions so I can keep improving this and future guides!
And that's about it.

ON TO THE WHY!

I cannot stress enough that there really is NO direct counter to !
I would NOT advise this build in ranked matches, unless you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! Playing in top is easy because he automatically pushes, but in bottom he needs to be played EXTREMELY carefully and thoughtfully, but more on that later.

When to pick! IMPORTANT!


is not someone you usually pick in bottom lane. (No duh!). Due to his tankiness and inability to poke with his AA shovel slap he should be picked with a high CC support such as , , , , or even . As for the rest of the team synergy, you will want a Bruiser-type top, rather than a pure tank, due to his rather "low" AD output. Toplaners he should pair with are champions like , , , and ; or other champions like that. Finally, your jungler should preferably be high AD or main tank such as , , or . He is a pick based on your team mainly, but I have had luck playing him in all sorts of team compositions.

Pro's and Con's


PRO'S:

  • OUTSTANDING push and harass
  • FREE facecheck with
  • EASY last hitting with Ghouls
  • INSANE poke damage with W - E combo!
  • EXTREMELY powerful mid-game due to game changing ult
  • AMAZING passive gives great sustain
  • HIGH defence with and his general "Bruiser Tankiness"


CON'S:

  • EXTREMELY low mana in early game
  • SUPER farm dependent, if you have to face a - combo, you are screwed
  • COMMUNICATION REQUIRED with your support. If you are >>>Skyping<<< with them, even better. I CAN NOT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT THE COMMUNICATION WITH THE SUPPORT IS! HE NEEDS TO KNOW WHEN YOU ARE POKING VS ENGAGING, WHEN TO USE EXHAUST OR KNOCKUPS OR GRABS
  • Due to being a toplaner he has LOW RANGE on his shovel slapping AA.
  • MODERATELY low range on his abilities. Especially his Q which is on hit.

Due to 's problem with mana, and his heavy reliance on , , and you should be using Flat Attack Damage, Cooldown Reduction, and Max Mana, as well as Cooldown Reduction Quints.

This is viable, yet less useful rune build. This will help you absorb all that AD damage you will be poked with in bottom lane. is a no ****s given type of champion, even without these runes you, you should not have to be scared of being poked by their ADC, because remember that your and do a TON of damage on squishy targets.

Statistics:


Yorick's basic attacks deal 5% more damage and Yorick takes 5% reduced damage for each summon that is active. Meanwhile, Yorick's ghouls have 35% of Yorick's Attack Damage and Health.

Explanation:


Pretty self-explanatory passive. The more ghouls you have, the more damage you do and the less damage you take. Also, the ghouls have 35% of your AD and health.


Statistics:


Yorick's next attack will deal 30/35/40/45/50 (+120% of attack damage) physical damage and summon a Spectral Ghoul for up to 5 seconds.
The Spectral Ghoul deals 8/16/24/32/40 additional damage per hit and moves 15/20/25/30/35% faster. While the ghoul is active, Yorick moves 15/20/25/30/35% faster as well.
Cooldown 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds
Cost 40 mana.

Explanation:


This skill seems to go under the radar for most players. You want to level this last, but make sure to get it at level 3, so you have all of you abilities on hand. The issue is that is it an ON HIT summon, also giving you a movement speed AND attack speed buff. For bottom lane this is a skill you will only use when going in for a kill or when you need a SPEED BUFF. It is nearly useless for harass, because a good ADC will not just let you walk up to them and press Q.


Statistics:


Yorick summons a Decaying Ghoul that arrives with a violent explosion, dealing 60/95/130/165/200 (+100% of ability power) magic damage and slowing nearby enemies by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds. While the Decaying Ghoul remains alive, nearby enemies continue to be slowed by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for up to 5 seconds.
Cooldown 12 seconds
Cost 40/45/50/55/60 mana
Range 500

Explanation:


Did say "Facecheck?" This thing does it, and it does it like a BAWS! Not only does it REVEAL the entire bush, but it will then proceed to CHASE whoever decided to try to hide from you! Aside from checking those bushes for you, is AMAZING at last hitting. ESPECIALLY those pesky moments when you have more than 1 minion at last hate HP, due to 's AOE, you will be able to last hit ALL of them. The mana cost on it is also significantly lower than , making it more easily spammable early game, which is another reason to level it first. This will let you help your jungler leash wolves and blue, or wraiths and red! Oh, did i mention it SLOWS as well? This ability will assure that when you DO decided to engage, that pesky little won't escape you! You should be maxing this second.

Statistics:


Yorick deals 55/85/115/145/175 (+100% of attack damage) magic damage and heals for up to 40% of the damage dealt. A Ravenous Ghoul is summoned behind his target, which heals Yorick for the damage it deals and lasts up to 5 seconds.
Cooldown 10/9/8/7/6 seconds
Cost 55/60/65/70/75 mana
Range 550

Explanation:


"Bread and butter skill" is used in every guide! But not here! His and can both be considered "bread and butter skills" and it all depends on how you look at it. While is great for slowing, facechecking, AOE last hitting, and escaping, is amazing for its sustain and damage. It is the strongest ghoul in the game based on the percent damage it does to your AD. It also HEALS you! How fantastic is that?! This skill is what makes me giggle when I initiate a fight that the enemy ADC thinks they can win. The sustain on it is close to unbelievable! And paired with CDR and your it makes for one hell of a trading tool! This skill should be acquired at level 2 and maxed first!


Statistics:


Yorick conjures a revenant in the image of a target allied champion. Revenants deal 45/60/75% of target ally's Attack Damage. If his ally dies while its revenant is alive, the revenant sacrifices itself to reanimate them.
Cooldown 120/105/90 seconds
Cost 100 mana
Range 700

Explanation:


OH HOLY **** Tits **** M*****F****** BEJEBUS! is what it makes it all worth it. Yes, it's not quite as amazing as 's "free guardian angel" , but it is a FREE REVIVE for 10 seconds, OR an extra carry on the field. Remember that it does damage based on % Attack Damage, meaning you should be ulting your (as earlier described) or toplane bruiser. If you build all out AD, you can also ult yourself, but remember that your skills are what do the true real damage, and your revenant will only shovel slap your enemies. HOWEVER, you can ult yourself if you KNOW you will die, and give you another 10 WHOPPING seconds to pull of a >> >> >> SHOVEL SLAP >> SHOVEL SLAP >> >> >> WOMBO COMBO! Combine this with and you are basically unkillable... or guarantee yourself a double-triple-or even QUADRA kill! Make sure your team knows what's up. It's like having a 6th champion AND a revive. And again, with , it is like having a 7TH champion and 2 FREE REVIVES. (This is why is such a great champion to pair with ). When pushing a tower, you can use to scare that annoying away, securing that tower. This ult has many different uses, and takes a lot of practice to know all the ways you can utilize it. I'm sure I haven't even figured out all the different things I can do with it.

WARNING! MAKE SURE TO USE YOUR BEFORE DIEING AND BECOMING A SPECTRAL, BECAUSE YOU CANNOT USE SUMMONER SPELLS UPON THE 10 SECOND REVIVAL!

Items & Spells

This is where the fun part begins. If you don't enjoy stomping on the enemy regardless of what she builds to counter you, then you won't truly enjoy Yorick in bottom lane. The item build depends COMPLETELY on your team composition and how their ADC is building. Either they will be doing their standard ADC FOR EVERYONE GUIDE build, or they will be trying to counter you. So let's get to it!

OPTION 1:
This is what I build in most matches, meaning I have a bruiser top, tanky jungle, and a standard ADC who is versing me in bottom.

Iceborn Gauntlet 2600

EXPLANATION:

  • We will start Doran's Shield. Yes, I know "Doran items are for noobs, not worth it. Must sell!" Remember, you are in BOTTOM LANE, meaning their ADC will be hitting you with autoattacks for most of that damage. If you get early armor and health, you will be able to shrug off those early AA's until you and your support get into the swing of things. The issue with this item is that it takes up ALL your starting money, meaning you need to be VERY careful not to run out of mana.
  • On the first back you SHOULD have enough gold to buy Manamune. If not, get Sapphire Crystal and buy Manamune the next time you back. This item is key. YOU MUST GET THIS ITEM! There is no way around it. Yorick is too mana dependent for farming in bottom lane. If you are lucky, you jungler will let you get blue buff, but that is not always a given.
  • is SLOW, so Ionian Boots of Lucidity should be your next buy. The cooldown reduction is essential due to Yorick's dependence on his Q-W-E's. This, with Manamune will give you strong harass in bottom lane.
  • On your third, fourth, and maybe fifth time back, you should start working on your The Brutalizer and then build it into a Black Cleaver. This item works on almost every champion and is currently so broken. You should have this around 25 minutes MAX. Early game should be in full transition to mid-game, and you need to be ready to fend off ganks and be ready for team fights at this point.
  • Why Spirit Visage? I thought we were the ADC?! Well, you ARE, but as I've stressed before, Yorick should be picked with other bruiser champions. You CANNOT rely on to do ALL the damage like a standard ADC would. You still have to put SOME sustain on him. Plus, CDR is awesome on .
  • If you need that little extra cash to rush the Zeal, then it's ok to sell your Doran's Shield. You should be aiming to getting that Trinity Force right now. It is an overall useful item that will give you EVERYTHING needs. HP, SLOW, AP, CRIT and all that good stuff. IN ONE ITEM?! AWESOME!!
  • The final item to this build is situational! I prefer Iceborn Gauntlet due to its CDR and mana. The team is most likely focusing you, or bashing their faces on the keyboard because they don't know WHO to focus! With this item blue buff won't even be necessary in late game! And all that piled up CDR will have you summoning ghouls left and right. You will be hitting HARD and you will have soooooooo much sustain now.

OPTION 2:
Is their ADC trying to be mean? Is he buidling ARMOR?! Is their whole team cowering behind Doran's Shields? HA-HA-HA! Laughs the Yorick.

EXPLANATION:

  • The first items are the same as OPTION 1 and shouldn't require explanation.
  • After your Ionian Boots of Lucidity you will try and get Bloodthirster. This item will make you do near to insane damage on their ADC in the early-mid game transition.
  • Next you will be aiming for a Black Cleaver. Paired with the the damage output your Omen of War and Omen of Famine have will make their ADC throw their computer out the window. With the help of an unstoppable toplaner like Shen, or a jungler such as Volibear or Dr. Mundo you will be everyone on their team trash their rooms!
  • And just when the enemy team thinks they figured out your plan and started focusing YOU, you throw them a Guardian Angel. "Nu-UH" Yells the clever Yorick while he dies, then ulting himself, "You do not have my permission to kill me!".
  • Again, you will need to sell Doran's Shield somewhere along the way. But your last item is again situational. With this build I prefer the good old Trinity Force due to all the benefits it gives you. Not a lot of explanation there.

There are a lot of different builds and I simply can't cover them all here. These are just my two favorites!



As for spells, I would suggest standard Flash/ Ignite. Other viable combos would be Teleport/ Ignite. I have considered Clarity/ Ignite or Clarity/ Flash but Clarity drops off so heavily in mid-late game that it really isn't worth it.

There are so many Yorick haters already, SO LET'S MAKE SOME MORE!!! This champion is just pure awesome. Please, please, PLEASE try him in top lane FIRST, so you can get a feel for his abilities, and his Omen of Death which has over 101 uses! For a toplane Yorick guide that I found useful when first playing him, please see >>THIS GUIDE<<. Once you think you know him, you can try out my guide for bottom lane! However, if you KNOW the game inside and out, and you know how bottom lane works, you can try this guide right away. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR MISTAKES when playing as Yorick.
