@sn0wwarrior: what you fail to realize in calculating the per 1000 mana is that items like Frozen Heart provide 20% CDR. Casting abilities (especially Rune Prison) more often will lead to more kills, fewer deaths, and more wins.

@Yarija: Frozen Heart is a MUST HAVE for Ryze. 99 armor, 20% CDR, and 500 mana (which yields +32.5 damage on Overload, and +22.5 damage on Rune Prison). This item makes Ryze resistant to the opponents' adc, beefs up your damage, and provides utility to Ryze by more than doubling your CDR (14% --> 34%). Shorter cooldowns increase your damage output, which helps you farm your Tear of the Goddess quicker, which increases your damage output some more. Frozen Heart is the "Beastmode Engage" switch for Ryze. Oh yeah, it's got an AS reducing aura to screw over your opponents AD characters some more.

I'm not downvoting this, but I am CERTAINLY NOT upvoting as I do not agree with the guide in general. It looks decent but the content is poor. Start by stacking mana - THEN build the AP. Deathcap isn't as necessary on Ryze (as opposed to other casters) and Rylai's is straight junk on a character that can root every 5-6 seconds. The positives (aka the reasons I am not downvoting) are the selection for Voidstaff and I guess Zhonya's is a decent choice against an opposing team heavily dependent on AD; however Rod of Ages is an all-around better general selection for 6th item (even unstacked) as it provides the best stats for the remaining item slot. Alternatives are to build an even MORE beefy setup on Ryze with ( Quicksilver Sash, Force of Nature, Thornmail) or to go with Will of the Ancients if they don't have much CC.

Ok so as i said i would +1 this after you made the changes i talked about. good job, I like how you set up your alternate build chapeter. And good call on the runes. Looks much cleaner and the choices you went with should maximize what your looking for very nicely.

As a side note i did notice you had Zhonya's Ring instead of Zhonya's Hourglass in your main build. Zhonya's Ring is no longer in the game so I would highly recommend that you fix that.

all in all though looks good, keep up the work. In almost any guide things can always be added or improved. good luck and have fun.
