Ryze Build Guide by Yarija

Introduction

Hello Summoners and welcome to my guide.
I'll try to show you, how you can build and use Ryze.

This is my first guide, so it can include some mistakes.

Please keep in mind to never rate a guide before trying it out first, unless you've already tried it.

Pros / Cons

PROS

• Ryze is very much fun to play :D
• He bursts but has very short Cooldowns
• His Abilities have a high range
• With his Rune Prison it is easy to get rid of a chasing enemy
• He is easy to build
• You can use him as an Offtank, too
• He is a Champion which is very good on the Mid Lane AND on the Top or Bot Lane with a teammate

CONS

• Once he got focussed by more than one or two champions in a Teamfight, it is nearly impossible not to die
• Earlygame on the Mid Lane, it is hard to play against a well-played and harrassing Brand, Lux, Karthus or Malzahar
• You can't jungle with him
• You won't win a game that you solo on the Top or Bot Lane

Runes

For this Guide i think these runes are good. Its a mix of AP / Mana
Because the specator patch edited ryze so that his ap + mana will push his skills

Masteries

I like to play ryze with that masteries, because damage is more for agressive player and for defensivly player ;)

Items

This is my current Itembuild it works good, but you need to play ryze. And have alltime the blue buff.

This list could not be the best, but it works :)

Rylai's Crystal Scepter will give you Ability Power and Health. You will have a chance of 35 % (15 % AoE) to slow the enemys with your skills.


This boots are the best choice, right now. Because u need Magic Penetration .

On the one hand you will get 140 Ability Power and on the other hand an increase of Ability Power by 30 %.

This item gives you Magic Resistance and Health. In addition, you will get a shield, that blocks every 45 seconds a spell.

+40% Magic Penetration says everything. And 70 Ability Power more.

First you will get 120 Ability Power + an increase of Ability Power by 25%. But the best thing of this item is the passiv, when you activare it you wont die for 2 seconds.

This is my alternative build when i want to play with ~4000 Mana & 300 AP


This boots are the best choice, right now. Because u need Magic Penetration .


After the recent patch its a good idea to buy some Ability Power. The staff will give you Mana / Ability Power and transform 3% of you max. Mana to Ability Power. Thats really awesome with Ryze

"Rod of Ages" is really import (My opinion), because you need some Health. And you will get a Bonus of Health and Mana for Archangel' Staff.

Spell Combos

- Primary Burst Combo. Use for harassing/nuking.

- Your Burst Combo if the enemy is getting out of range.

- Your primary sustained damage combo.

- Your sustained damage combo if they are getting out of range.

REPEAT- Your combo for killing dragon/baron.

- Quick Surprise Burst. Used to catch enemies off-guard. Try to pull off the combo while they are still snared.

- You can start with desperate power if there is a group of creeps or heroes.

General

• Base attack damage increased to 52 from 49
• Base missile speed increased to 2400 from 1400
• Recommended items updated on The Crystal Scar/Summoner's Rift

Overload

• Mana ratio reduced to 6.5% from 7.5%
• Ability power ratio increased to .4 from .2
• Overload base damage increased to 60/85/110/135/160 from 40/65/90/115/140
• Range reduced to 650 from 700

Rune Prison

• Mana ratio reduced to 4.5% from 5%
• Mana cost adjusted to 80/90/100/110/120 from 80/95/110/125/140
• Rune prison duration reduced to .75/1/1.25/1.5/1.75 seconds from 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds

Spell Flux

• Added a 1% mana ratio
• Missile speed reduced
• Bounce radius increased to 400 from 375
• Spell Flux now prioritizes enemy champions over Ryze
• Mana cost adjusted to 80/90/100/110/120 from 80/95/110/125/140

Desperate Power

• Passive mana component removed
• Active now adds 35/45/55 movement speed
