Introduction

Hello Summoners !
My name is F4ancy and this is actually my second guide here on Mobafire.
I playSyndra in the middle since a year and i won about 80% of my games.

I hope this little guide can help you out to get better at LoL to climb the ranking-ladder.
Syndra is a midlane champ with hig burst Ability Power damage. She uses Mana as resource and she is a burst mage, so try to build her with very much Ability Power. For more information about what to buy and why scroll down to the chapter "Items", which i have prepared for you ;)!
Read the short chapter "Runes" to get more knowledge why to use this runes.

I hope you'll enjoy reading this guide!:)

Runes

Well hello there, you are interested inSyndra and you want to know why to use my recommended runes. Let me explain!

Resistance is awesome, but asSyndra it is pretty necessary to build high damage burst.
This is why u take NO Magic Resistance in your Rune Page :O! As Seals and Glyphs u may take Greater Seal/Glyph of Scaling AP for the perfectly balanced Ability Power for your level. As Quints u should better take the Greater Quintessence of Ability Power, to have a constant AP resource. At least u take the Greater Mark of Magic Penetration for enough damage against enemies with Magic Resistance at early levels.
  • Greater Mark of Magic Penetration (9x)
  • Greater Seal of Scaling Ability Power (9x)
  • Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power (9x)
  • Greater Quintessence of Ability Power (3x)

Masteries

For Masteries i rush 21/7/2 for Ability Power, Cooldown Reduction and increased Damage in the Offense-Tree. In Defense i take Health, Armor and Magic Resistance and at least i take a little bit of Mana Regeneration in the Utility-Tree of my Masteries. I recommend these, because it works like it should work and i accomplish my goals!

Items

Let's take a look at the items you should build withSyndra.
Important note : I NEVER buy Deathfire Grasp, because none of my Core-Items, which i show in this build, is dispensable. You will not even need DG, because if you buy these items, you will burst them without help!:)

Don't even dare to start with a Doran's Ring. Start with an Amplifying Tome and expand it to a Chalice of Harmony! This will be enough Mana Regeneration until you own your first Core-Item: the Athenes Unholy Grail, which is very important withSyndra, because of its Passive and its Cooldown Reduction. It grants a little bit of Ability Power, too.
Proceed with buying the Haunting Guise, which you should build into the Liandry's Torment (you know... this burning mask thingy) after you bought your Sorcerers Shoes and your Athenes Unholy Grail. What is missing now ? Right! You need more burst and more Ability Power, so continue with a Rabadon's Deathcap as your third important Core-Item. You are halfway through your End-Game-Fantasy, but at this point of time you are way to squishy :/
In that case you need to buy a little bit of Health, so what is better than a nice Giant's Belt huh ? Fourth Core-Item: Rylai's Crystal Scepter! Now you are basically fed and you can simply oneshot your enemy AD-Carry or AP-Carry. Complete your Build with something like a Guardian Angel or a Zhonya's Hourglass (depends on you enemy team).

So I hope you can easily understand this build and you are approving it. Aren't you ? :D

Skill Sequence

Well, without you abilities you are not even able to deal damage asSyndra, so listen here and follow this guide.

Start with your Q-Skill, i hope i will not have to explain why to. What ? Ok... :/
Your Q is your basic-damage-skillhot-skill. Always skill your Q, when it is available, because you are advised to max it first by me.

Max your E-Skill Second because you need that Cooldown Reduction on your Stun, which is very important for your gameplay. You also need the bonus of your Passive at your E( I will explain how to play in the different phases of the game in the chapter "Gameplay").

Last but not least skill your W because of that Slow and the extra damage, which is required to burst your enemies. You can see the exact skill sequence above!:)

Spells

As Summoner Spells you may take Flash and Ignite, because they are the only viable Spells, which are the most useful most of the time in normal games. If you play ranked, you are of course allowed to take Cleanse or Barrier... depends on what you want to counter!

Take Flash to do a stun combo on enemies, which are too far away to be hit by your normal Q-E-Combo. And for the normal use like flashing over walls or something... You know.

Take Ignite to maximize your burst. How to use it correctly will be explained in the chapter below.

If you know that you are up to play against a Veigar or something with hard CC, take Cleanse to deny their stun, etc.. Barrier is also a nice choice, if you play against high-burst enemies, that are not able to stun you like Lux, Ryze, Ziggs,... .

Gameplay

Laning Phase

(How to farm withSyndra is being explained in the chapter below.)

Try to harass your lane opponent with your Q as much as possible, but just if you it is definitely going to hit, because it is important to save your Mana before you have your own Athene's Unholy Grail. If you are on level 2 try to stun you opponent as much as possible with your Q-E-Combo to deny their farm. On level 3 you can basically combo them as much as you Mana allows you to, but be prepared to get ganked, so save your stun if you are pushed into the lane. On level 6 u can go pretty much all-in on your enemies and do the following combo:
  • Dark Sphere (Q)
  • Scatter the Weak (E)
  • Force of Will (W)
  • Dark Sphere (Q)
  • Ignite (D/F)
  • Unleashed Power (R)

If you are bursting a single target, make sure there are enough Dark Spheres on the battlefield, before you use your Ultimate Unleashed Power. It't okay if you miss a Q, your Ultimate still deals more damage, even if your Q has been casted behind you.

Midgame

Now it is time to roam. If your Ultimate Unleashed Power is off Cooldown, go gank botlane to get an easy kill on the enemy AD-Carry, because they can't resist your stun and your following burst if they are NOT prepared. This is your way to get fed, if you are not fed enough at this point of time; but you should :D!

Lategame

AsSyndra it is your job to finish off the enemy AD- or AP-Carry with your single-target-burst-combo, which has been explained step by step above. It is also up to you to stun the most members of the enemy team, when you are escaping/engaging on them. So you have to stay behind, stun them and then you can flash for the carries, but you can stay behind as well. If you followed my build, you have enough Cooldown Reduction and Mana to spam your Q several times in teamfights.

Farming / Jungling

Laning Phase

AsSyndra you should farm with your autoattacks. Don't farm with your skills, because they are way to expensive in the Mana point of you and you need your Mana to harass your enemy laner. If there are 4 low-health minions, you may kill them with a single Dark Sphere, but don't use too much of your early-game Mana. Your autoattacks are dealing enough damage and if you are able to last-hit correctly there should be no problem for you to get a good farm!

Getting/Stealing Blue/Red

Try to steal enemy buffs, when their midlaner or jungler are going to get them. Just put a ward before and grab it over the wall with your Force of Will (W).

Mid- and Lategame

You have enough Mana Regen and Cooldown Reduction to spam your Skills to farm whole minionwaves. Just use your Q, E and throw a Dark Sphere or a minion with your W on the left minions. This will get you Tons of Farm, because you get up to every minionwave with your combo, but take care of ganks if you are pushing hard.

Unique Skills

Syndra's Force of Will is an unique skill, because you can move objects like minions, monsters and Annie's Ultimate Tibbers. Use its whole potential:
  • Take Tibbers and throw him out of the fight.
  • Take the enemy red/blue buff and finish it off elsewhere.
  • Take one part of Zac, when he is in his passive form to secure the kill if you want to get it.

NOTE: You cannot move Baron Nashor or the Dragon.
