Q&A

Q: Why don't you consider the fact that Flash can be used in conjunction with Dark Flight to close a larger gap or escape more reliably due to the lack of channel time on Flash? Why not reference how high elo players build Aatrox instead of what you consider "viable" at silver?

A: Many champions can use Flash in conjunction with another gapcloser (Such as Kassadin's Riftwalk or Akali's Shadow Dance), but I personally think that Flash is overrated; What will Flash bring you? A more reliable escape/chase ability every 300 (or 188 with Summoner's Insight , Mastermind and Enchantment: Distortion) seconds. What will, for example, Heal bring you? A healing ability for both you and teammates, at the same cooldown as Flash. You can also use Heal for many things, like FB by baiting them into thinking they're winning, then you Heal and now they're screwed.
Are teammates low and being chased by enemies with just a bit more health? Use that Heal and turn the fight around!
Also, Heal has some synergy with Aatrox as a sustainable fighter, allowing him to be in combat for a longer duration, survive duels, towerdiving and adding a bit more presence in teamfights (And with the mastery Summoner's Resolve , you'll gain +5 Health per level, making it +90 Health at 18, which couples nicely with Durability ).
Of course, many players prefer Flash. If you do, then take it!
It's more a matter of personal preference, playstyle and situation.
