Introduction and Lore

Hello everyone, in this guide im going to be showing off how I personally believe Teemo is meant to be played, Ad/Tank. Many LoL players tend to play Teemo as an Ap carry which is completely understandable due to having three of his abilities scale with Ap, but when built Ad/Tank and played in the top lane, Teemo truly shines over the rest.

Teemo's Lore

Teemo is a legend among his yordle brothers and sisters in Bandle City. As far as yordles are concerned, there is something just slightly off about him. While Teemo enjoys the companionship of other yordles, he also insists on frequent solo missions in the ongoing defense of Bandle City. Despite his genuinely warm personality, something switches off inside Teemo's mind during combat so that the lives he must end while on patrol do not burden him. Even as a young recruit, the drill instructors and other trainees found it a little disconcerting that, while Teemo was normally charming and kind, he turned deadly serious and highly efficient the minute combat exercises began. Teemo's superiors quickly steered him toward the Scouts of the Mothership, which is one of Bandle City's most distinguished Special Forces unit alongside the Megling Commandos.
While most yordles do not handle solo scouting missions with a great deal of finesse, Teemo is remarkably efficient at them. His record of success in defending Bandle City from infiltrators easily makes him one of the most dangerous yordles alive, though you'd never know it by having a cup of honey mead with him at his favorite inn. Bandle City chose Teemo as their first champion for the League, and he has taken to it like a duck to water. His signature weapon - a blowgun - uses a rare ajunta poison he personally gathers from the jungles of ***ungu. To help cope with his lengthy periods of isolation, Teemo recently struck up a friendship with Tristana, a fellow League champion and fellow member of Bandle City's Special Forces. This connection is healthy for both yordles, though now Valoran's voracious media outlets circulate rumors that the friendship is turning into a romantic relationship. Regardless, Teemo is a crowd favorite in the League of Legends, and a pint-sized foe that many have come to fear.

Pros and Cons

PROS


+ Excellent escape abilities (shroom slow, increase speed skills)
+ Blind (shuts down autoattackers)
+ One of the fastest champs in the game (great for ganks or turret saving)
+ Practically free wards
+ Great farming ability
+ Strong Harrass in lane

CONS


- Generally a squishy champ without HP items
- Seems to be the target of focus
- Relatively short range compared to other ranged champions
- Can be revealed by Oracle's Elixirand Vision Ward

Skill Explanation

I will go into more details about how to use skills at different phases of the game in the following sections, but for now here's a quick overview.

camouflage [*] Teemo's passive ability doesnt appear to be that strong of a passive at first, but when used correctly it can provide large amounts of utility, attack speed, and potentially save your life.You can use your passive to stealth away for survival or plan a suprise attack from a brush or in the middle of the lane with the bonus attack speed you get.

[*] This is the skill that Ability Power Teemo's max, but its also an oustanding skill to raise on Ad/Tank Teemo. This skill allows Teemo to win all of his encounters and shine in 1v1 situations against Ad champions that rely on auto-attacking.

[*] This skill is last to max on the skill list, but shuold not be underestimated by any means.The passive Move speed increase allows Teemo to escape sticky situations as well as dodge enemy skill shots with ease.

[*] This is the skill that you will see almost all Teemo players max first regardless of their build.Teemo's auto attacks will apply a poisonous dot onto the enemy. Maxing this ability will allow you to harrass in lane and sweep up kills when used with ignite.

[*] This is Teemo's ultimate ability and like most ultimates its crucial to Teemo's playstyle. Ad/Tank Teemo otherwise known as a bruiser is primarily played in the top lane, in this lane ganks are persistantly occuring on you and your enemy, butonce Teemo hits level 6 its almost impossible to gank from the jungle and kill him. The smart Teemo player will shroom all pathways and brushes that present a risk of an upcoming ganks, but shrooms can also be used in lane as a DPS source.

Little Man's Arsenal

[*]Please do take into consideration that these item choices are of personal opionion, and Teemo can be built with different items and still be succesful in lane.

Core Items



[*] Frozen Mallet is Teemos Bread and Butter Item, without this Ad/Bruiser Teemo would not shine. The Frozen Mallet allows you to apply a slow to your tagets on hit, when combined with Teemo's large amount of attack speed and move quick, escaping from the little guy is nearly impossible.

[*] Madred's Bloodrazor is a debateable item on Teemo due to its high cost and effectiveness. This should be an item that is primarily built when laning or facing an enemy team that stack large amounts of Hit Points like Volibear or Singed, but in some cases if you find yourself being denied farm and struggling to keep your creepscore then the acquiring of an early Madred's Razors will help you farm creeps more effectively.

[*] Black Cleaver is an item that can always be effective when put into Teemo's arsenal. When combined with Teemo's on-hit slow, this item allows teemo to not only demolish squishy targets, but take on tankier one's as well. Opposing champions that stack Armor are quickly burst down by Teemo's rapid attack speed which allows him to reach the maximum potential of the Black Cleaver quite quickly.

[*] Malady was made for Teemo. Simple as that. This item is relatively cheap to buy early on,provides Teemo with ability power and attack speed which is directly making all of Teemo's abilities stronger. This item is cheap to buy and if the game happens to drag to late game you can sell it and replace it with a late game item like a Bloodthirster or an Infinity Edge.

Luxury/Substitional Items



[*] Bloodthirster is an item that i would consider to be a great item to build on Teemo. The BloodThirster should be an item that Teemo should pick up if he is already dominating in lane and getting fed. Grabbing an early Vampiric Scepter combined with you two Doran's Blade will give you a large amount of lifesteal, granting you the ability to remain in lane longer. If you find yourself farming extremely well and grabing a few kills here and there, picking up the B.F. Sword will boost your attack damage by a large quantity and make you significantly stronger. Once you've completed the Bloodtrhirster you should still continue to farm regardless of what time in the game it is (early-game, mid-game, late-game). Teemo is a great farmer and this will allow him to reach the max stats on this item quickly.

[*] Infinity Edge is an item that will help to increase Teemo's attack damage, but i would not recommend it on in this build. Teemo usually does not stak larg3e amounts of critical chance therefore the unique passive on Infinity Edge is wasted.

[*] Phantom Dancer is a viable item on Teemo, but like the Infinity Edge is not recommended in this Teemo build. This item will make teemo a strong auto-attacker when combine with the Infinity Edge, but when building these items Teemo falls into the class of an Attack Damage Carry, where he is easily outshone by other champions like Ezreal, Corki, and Graves.

[*] Wit's End is a great item to build on Teemo, but I personally like to treat it as a situational item more than anything else. This item will allow for Teemo's auto attacks to do bonus magic damage and granting him bonus Magic Resistance on hit, a no brainer item on Teemo practically. The conflict that I start finding myself having with this item usually occurs around late game. Wit's End is still a great late game item, but can be easily outshone by other stronger items like Bloodthirster.

Early Game


[*] I would reccomend either starting with Boots and Three Health Potion or if you are going for a more aggresive early laning phase grab a Doran's Blade.

[*] Throughout the early laning phase you should focus on last hitting and putting in an auto attack or two on you enemy to harrass and bully them out of lane.

[*] On your first back you should focus on picking up two Dorans's Blade or if you started off with one grab Boots, sight ward, and Health Potion.

[*] On your second back you should acquire Berserker's Greaves/ Mercury's Treads and begin your build towards Phage and eventually completing Frozen Mallet.

[*] Continue to shroom all pathways that present a ganking threat to you when your farming in lane. Make sure to show how strong you actually are to you enemy top laner.

Mid Game

[*] By this time you should have completed the Frozen Mallet because it is an incredible tool for kiting and gives a good amount of health in case you're caught by burst or CC. Not only will this allow you to DPS more safely, but it also gives Teemo some useful team fight utility since you can use the on-hit slow to peel bruisers off of your carries. Also works really nicely when split-pushing since you can slow down pursuers or even kite them to death unless they send multiple champions to cut you off.
