Heimerdinger is a slightly versatile champion. You can play him top middle and sometimes support. I prefer to play him middle. He has a stun and or blind depending on how well you land it, he has excellent poke with his micro rockets and of course he has excellent lane pushing ability with his turrets. and of course if u are losing or your tower is hurt then camp next to it for a little while and it will heal.
I take Flash and Ignite. If you have looked at my other guides you might notice a pattern. I love flash because of its many uses mainly the fact that it creates instant distance allowing you to doge most things or initiate well in almost any situation. It is much better than ghost. Ignite I take because I love to tower dive but I always try to make it out alive and with the bonus damage from ignite this is possible, it also helps if you are facing a champion that heals very rapidly giving you a chance to kill him.
My items are based around the need for mana and major damage on Heimerdinger. He will hit hard because he scales well early but later on he falls off unless you have a very high AP count. This is why all of the items give you lots of AP while also giving survivability. The unholy grail gives you mana regeneration. It also gives allot of AP and some CDR which helps Heimerdinger poke more often and have his turrets always on standby if need be. Sorcerer’s shoes give move speed and magic pen which will help Heimerdinger do more damage to everyone. I personally like to use homegaurd boots on Heimerdinger just to get back to lane faster or to protect a tower and just because it is fun and cool looking. You could very easily substitute Furor instead which are also very viable. Ryalis gives you lots of hp to make you tanky and more able to survive in prolonged fights where your passive hp regeneration helps as well. It adds to your AP which is as I stated before much needed on Heimerdinger. Death cap is all about the AP that’s really it. Zohnyas gives you AP and couple seconds of invincibleness. This could help if you are in a team fight and you lay both towers own and ult. Then you could proc Zohnyas and survive the fight while helping your team with your towers. Will of the Ancients will help any other AP scalers on your team as well as yourself gain HP back and because of how much AP you have you will heal very rapidly. Not only does your abilities scale on AP but your towers damage do as well. At max build my towers hit for around 300 per shot. With splash damage in effect as well.
You can read what the abilities do for yourself I won’t repeat what I don’t have too, but make note to read them with care as I have noticed in some cases that people take what they think they see instead of what is actually written. The main thing you need to know about his abilities are that they all scale very well off of AP and that the Stun/Blind should be used on ADC or to reveal a location before you actually travel to that location. You can combo the micro rockets with the stun because the stun ball reveals the location for a short time and therefore your micro rockets have something to target if you are close enough.
I recommend going only 22 in the offense tree and then putting the rest in utility because of the mana regeneration and faster “B” time. You want as much AP as possible so you spec down the right side of offense and you can add to turret damage as well because it also counts towards the turrets that you put down. Your turrets will hit the enemy turrets harder. CDR also helps Heimerdingers abilities come up more often offering more damage and faster ultimate usage time.
You need to have lots of AP as I mentioned above and these runes get you the most AP possible. You don’t need magic pen because it does not work with your turrets which are a great source of damage but straight up AP does.
Stay behind your minions and farm using your turrets and auto attacks. If u have a chance bait the enemy out a little or move so that your micro rockets will hit the enemy champions. These are your main sources of poke and they are very strong. If someone is chasing you lead them a little with your stun ball and 8 times out of 10 they will continue running in the same direction and they will be stunned if you aimed it properly then you can lay down 2 turrets and turn on them popping your ultimate so that they can’t run away. Farmign is very important you are very good at it with this champ so dont try to miss any. My general rule is 100 farm every 15 minutes.
Heimerdinger does not handle ranked play very well because he is not the greatest when team comps matter a lot. He is a fun champion to play in draft and normal’s but unless you are in a ranked 5v5’s then don’t play him because he is hard to comp with.
