This guide has not been updated below here, only updated item build. Allorim still has nice video's for Wukong fans and players, but also for people in general looking for a chill livestream with Master/Challenger gameplay. I might be updating the guide at some point, but no right now, just wanted to update my item build. Runes and masteries stay pretty much the same, 1 crit mark possible, I still like it. Also 5% cdr in glyphs is nice against ad's so you can take only 3 scaling magic restistance glyphs.

Introduction

Why Wukong?
Well you know, Wukong is pretty much one of the most underrated champions in the league! He has one of the best win ratio's in soloq. For everyone who thinks that Wukong is bad top lane, I've made this guide and also for those who want to know how to be successful with Wukong in the top lane.
Of course it is still possible to loose your lane and sometimes you might have to build more, or earlier MR because the enemy only has AP like Ryze for example.

Facts


Strongnesses
+ Wukong has strong damage output
+He has one of the best ultimates for teamfights: Cyclone
+He also is a strong initiator with Flash and Nimbus Strike
+He got very good escape-options aswell as engage-options with Warrior Trickster
+His first abilitiy Crushing Blow proxes on-hit-effects such as life
steal and Sheen
+He got a great burst with his abilities. More to that later..
+If he is playing with an AOE team he doesn't need to be as tanky as normally.

Weaknesses
-Armor can shut him down easily and tanks will trade good against him
-If Wukong gets cc'd like for example stuns, fears, slows, snars
etc, while in Cyclone he will have problems to still land it well.
-Needs items to be good because you need to survive the teamfights or at
least his Cyclone
-You do not want to first pick Wukong in soloq because he get's shut down very hard by champions like Riven and Renekton If you do, be very careful in you lane and ask for jungle help or simply switch with your mid laner.

Abilities






























I really like Stone Skin because this passive allows you to have great stats in the team fights and buy items that give health only like Frozen Mallet. It offers you a bit of extra tankyness for the early game and also makes Wukong the late game champ he is.


Crushing Blow is a huge tank killer combined with staking armor penetration. It allows you to deal more damage to the enemies with the rest of your abilities. It also offers great utility because your basic attack range is increased and it allows you to trade in the lane against melee champs like Irelia without any counter-attack possibility from their side because of the lower range.


Finally we come to my favorite part of Wukong: Warrior Trickster. Maybe this ability and his ultimate are the ones Wukong is known for. THIS SPELL GIVES YOU SO MANY POSSIBILITIES You can use it after hitting your Nimbus Strike to close the distance because they will use many abilities on you as soon as they can, but it's also possible to use it to sneak in for Cyclone without even being seen. If you are quick enough you can dodge skill shots with it like Blitzcranks Rocket Grab or also spells like Caitlyns Ace in the Hole. Or simply press "S" to stand still and try to juke them (especially good in bushes). This spell makes you master Wukong


Nimbus Strike is the strongest spell for Wukong in the early game. It deals a nice amout of damage and offers an Attack Speed boost with it. Casting that spell directly after hitting Crushing Blow will make it possible to deal nice damage to your lane opponent combined with some auto attacks from the attack speed boost. It's also a very good gap closer as you want to use it as one. Nimbus Strike will make it possible for you to initiate a team fight!


Cyclone is pretty much one of the best ultimates in the game. As a good Wukong-player you know when to use it and how. It gives you a huge potential of agression post 6 in the lane and allows for easy ganks from your jungler if you are not facing somebody like Olaf But the main power of this ability is in the team fights. A good ult can dish out tons of damage and gives your team a nice knock up to control the first second of a fight. But you can also use Cyclone as an escape tool because it gives you these extra movement speed points. Overall a very strong spell with a nice cooldown actually.

Early Game

Wukongs early game can be very strong or very weak. It all depends on the enemy champion and his play style as much as on yours. Most of the strong laners have a shield or good sustain like Riven for example. Wukong doesn't have a shield nor good sustain. A possibility is taking 2 Doran's Blade
If you have a very confident lane you won't need 2 Doran's Blade and should simply rush Pickaxe or The Brutalizer, depending on how much gold you have at your first back. But you always wanna rush Tiamat as fast as possible!!

Summoner Spells

Flash

This summoner spell blinks you to a nearby location. Thats why you always have to take
Flash over Ghost because you will be even able to get into teamfights with your ult
after getting cc'd or if somebody else engaged and you are not in position yet.

Ignite

This summoner spell allows you to deal a nice amount of true damage to your enemy. It will help you to secure a kill or have a better 1v1. It doesn't have a hight cooldown so you can use it twice while flash is on cooldown, but never waste it.!

Taking Crushing Blow at level one will make you able to last hit better without pushing because this is very important at level one if you want to play passively. Its also a great way to harass your opponent if he tries to last-hit. Don't max it though! Maxing Nimbus Strike (EDIT: taking it at lvl 1 is also very good and better in most situations!) is very nice for the attack speed and extra damage because then you have two spells dealing damage early. Look out for you mana bar so you don't get out of mana, Wukong without mana is pretty much nothing. If you feel confident fighting and harassing your opponent, then don't be afraid of going in constantly whenever your q and e is up. CARE FOR GANKS!!! ;)

Runes & Masteries

These runes give you a nice mix of defensive and offensive stats and will make you even more powerfull in the late game but also give you some nice early game damage.

These one's are the standard offensive-top laner masteries.

I don't really want to fill this list unless people ask me to, but these pretty much the hardest opponents for Wukong. Ask for your junglers help early, otherwise they might smash you in your face! :(
