Heimerdinger's Story (Skip)

It is unusual to see yordles outside of Bandle City, but the lure of science was something Heimerdinger could not resist. By the time he'd completed his third doctorate, he had already become the greatest of all yordle scientists and there was little his home could still offer him. The great academies of Piltover far to the north called to him, daring him to make his mark in the City of Progress. Knowing he would never thrive away from his own kind, Heimerdinger gathered like-minded yordles to join him in his quest, thus forming the backbone of the now famous Yordle Academy of Science & Progress. Since then, he has become one of the most respected minds of the modern age and his academy is one of the leading institutions in all of Valoran.

Heimerdinger has pioneered many new scientific achievements, delving deeper and deeper into the field of techmaturgy, including the development of the now ubiquitous star-rods that light many of the streets of the city-states. However, there is something strange about the Revered Inventor. In his quest to expand knowledge, he underwent an experiment of his own design to allow him to use a greater portion of his brain simultaneously. It most certainly worked, but at an unusual cost - Heimerdinger's brain increased in size. His head changed along with it and now the great scientist looks like a yordle with a giant brain-shaped head. Heimerdinger has turned his attentions to the current state of war on Valoran, however, and works to rectify what he considers is an unacceptable situation. Heimerdinger believes that science is the key to saving the world. Much more, he has rolled up his sleeves and is out to prove this as a member of the League of Legends - most definitely as the League's smartest champion!

Science is on the march. Look out!

Herpaderper's (Heimerdinger's) Moves

What does it do??? - Okay, Gives you 10 health per 5 seconds, Increases with levels.
How does this help me??? - I always thought this was a useless passive, it gives your turrets health regen and gives you little to none, BUT When paired with Regrowth Pendant and x3 Greater Quintessence of Vigor and Vigor You get 41 health per 5 seconds instead of a measly 10 health per 5 seconds. Going into more Detail about Health Regen Later.

What does it do??? - This move is what separates Heimerdinger from all champions, Heimnerdinger places a turret that attacks nearby enemies, it has no time limit like Zyra. It increases within each rank.
How does this help me??? - Protect these with your life (sarcastic) but you must protect these. They deal insane amount of damage and if they are killed instantly you have no dps inbetween cooldowns.

What does it do??? - Fires 3 Rockets to the nearest Enemies and deals magic damage, cannot be used if no enemies are VISIBLE so if you see an enemy champion run into a bush your rockets WILL NOT TARGET THE CHAMPION
How does this help me??? - Deals high damage and it helps you secure kills that are running away Flash + Hextech Micro-Rockets to finish off a champion that has gotten out of range from your turrets.

ch-1 concussion grenade
What does it do??? - Sends out and extremely slow grenade, on impact it blinds all champions in the area, if a champion is hit in the middle it stuns them in addition to the blind.
How does this help me??? - If and Attack Damage Carry such as Vayne or Graves or Caitlyn use this on them it blinds them, this also works on Katarina if she Shunpo to you and uses Death Lotus Grenade her right in the face, she will be in melee range so it will be an easy stun, Drop 2 turrets and ult and watch her run for her life.

What does it do??? - Passively it gives you more Cooldown reduction 10%/15%/20% When activated all of your H-28G Evolution Turret gain full health and their attacks slow the targets hit, Your Hextech Micro-Rockets now hit up to 5 people instead of just 3, and Finally your ch-1 concussion grenade travels faster.
How does this help me??? - If somebody tower dives you you activate this and it will slow them while they are on your turret, in addition you can now hit every memeber of the enemy team with just one use of Hextech Micro-Rockets, your super slow ch-1 concussion grenade is now really fast yayyy!!!

Runes (Yes Health Regen Quints)

x9
Gives you Magic Penetration, nothing else can replace this

greater seal of replenishment x9
Heimerdinger can be mana hungry if you harass alot, I sometimes harass alot, sometimes i just farm alot, i grab these because you don't need anything else, Armor is cool but your going mid against someone who most likely deals magic damage

x9
CDR!!! gives you about 8.5% cdr, more rockets more damage, also keeps my turrets going, stacks well with my passive ult UPGRADE!!!
greater quintessence of vigor x3
All of you are probably thinking im an idiot "Why don't you get more Ability power or magic penetration, Health would have been better" But honestly i find these extremely effective. greater quintessence of vigor + Vigor + Techmaturgical Repair Bots + Regrowth Pendant = INSANE HEALTH REGEN. This allows you to farm and farm and farm without any interruption at all. Those who poke you, you will regenerate your health quicker than any other champion at level 1-6 this will help get your farm through the roof!!! Playing Heim people like to poke me alot since Heimerdinger is very bad on mobility this prevents him from being poked out of lane, TRY IT BEOFRE YOU JUDGE IT!!!

Turret Placement

Farming

The following photo will show how to place your turrets while farming
  • Why Staggered?
  • You have one turret attacking the wave of minions and (the) other turret incase the lane is pushed
  • By the time it is Destroyed you should have another turret ready
  • This Prevents Over Pushing
  • This turret is ahead
  • This turret is staggered behind it

Anti-Ganking

The following Picture will help you to prevent ganks.
  • 1. This turret is used to farm like normal
  • 2. This turret is a free ward and will let you completely hug a bush
  • 3. Any Ganks From here
  • 4. Here
  • 5. or Here
  • 6. Are completely useless
  • 7. One possible ganking spot which is unlikely but can happen.

Promote Pushing

This picture will tell you when and how to push your lane
  • 1. Your Mid is bot lane
  • 2. Use Promote
  • 3. Make sure the promoted minion is taking the turret!!!
  • 4. Place your turrets down after
  • 5. Destroy tower

The Mighty Road Block

The Heimerdinger Ganks
  • 1. Enemy Destroyed Tower
  • 2. FLANK HIM
  • 3. Place your turrets (in a manner) to where he shouldn't escape
  • 4. The rest is here

For Team Fighting Spread your 2 turrets across the main field of battle and stage in range of both of them. Make sure your team fights near your turrets

Archangel's Staff vs Athene's Unholy Grail

Archangel's Staff
+400 Mana +25 Mana Regen per 5 seconds +45 Ability Power Passive: Grants Ability Power equal to 3% of your maximum Mana. UNIQUE Passive: Each time you use an ability, your maximum Mana increases by 4 (3 second cooldown). Bonus caps at +1000 Mana. Does not stack with Tear of the Goddess or Manamune.

Pros

  • gives 40 more ability power (Pre-Deathcap bonus)
  • Gives you a never ending supply of mana
  • All mana you have is turned into ap

Cons

  • No Defensive stats at all
  • Gives no health

Athene's Unholy Grail
+90 Ability Power +40 Magic Resist +15 Mana Regen per 5 seconds UNIQUE Passive: 15% Cooldown Reduction UNIQUE Passive: Restores 12% of your max Mana on Kill or Assist. UNIQUE Passive: Increases your Mana Regen by 1% per 1% Mana you are missing. Does not stack with Chalice of Harmony.

Pros

  • Gives 40 magic resistance
  • gives you CDR for your rockets
  • mana returned on kills/assists

Cons

  • Slightly more expensive
  • Does not give you as much AP as the competitor

Why i choose Archangel's Staff: Getting Tear of the Goddess allows you to build an immense amount of mana, so you never have to worry, Athene's Unholy Grail gives you good mana regen on kills and assists, and gives you more durability ... People who get athenes normally don't get zhonyas ... i get zhonyas as my defensive item so i can get archangel's and i prefer alot of mana, instead of mana regen which i can gain from blue buff.

Kiting

Kiting - The act of running while an enemy is chasing you in order to lead him to his death

You can only successfully do this with the help of Rylai's Crystal Scepter. Too kite your target, you must give your target the idea that you are running for you life send Hextech Micro-Rockets at the enemy as well as ch-1 concussion grenades to deal damage but stay in range to where they think they can catch up, if you reach a bush place 2 turrets and ult away

This is very hard to describe without a video or anything.

Team Work

IMPORTANT!!!
Your team has to know, that heimerdinger is non mobile, he cannot move around alot of place, he must stay in one general area as long as possible. Your team will blame you if they run away from your turrets, make sure you inform them about that.

Early Game: Your Role

Your role early game is to Farm, call out MIAs, take blue, and push the **** out of towers. This is all you need to do for the first 15 to 20 minutes. Nothing Special, Don't die call out M!As and you should be fine with your farming and everything.

Mid Game: Your Role

Your Role here is similar but you will definitely have more and more people coming in and out of your lane, Now if your mid leaves lane you leave with your mid as well, be prepared to counter gank if neccessary
Back to Top

Late Game: Your Role

Follow your team around and Promote lanes nobody is in, this will push lanes while team fights are going on, Heimerdinger is a very simple character and thats why people fail as him so often, they expect him to move around alot and place turrets everywhere when you have cooldowns all the time.

Conclusion

Heimerdinger is an Extremely different character who must stay put to deal the most damage possible. This is hard with today's meta of initiate initiate initiate. You must tell your team to fight on your turrets for you to be successful and win team fights. Any questions Post and let me know.
