I don't think mods can see deleted posts, but I'm not sure. I don't see why it'd be against the rules, seeing as you're not spamming a thread with individual posts, but still notifying people that a new post had been made. Consider Ranked Journey threads - it'd be almost pointless to only edit your post with the latest games you've been playing, as you want to notify your followers that a new game had been played.

Or, if you want to bump the thread, but not spam, copy the content of your last comment, delete your last comment and write a new comment with the old stuff pasted before it.
Is this legal? In the last forum I moderated, when you deleted a post, it gets hidden from normal users, but is still visible to mods viewing it (to prevent abuse). So when somebody bumped a thread this way mods got treated to several pages of the same comment over and over again.
