at 40% CDR and going full tank (I grab Will of the Ancients at the end for the 25% spell vamp aura) I find my team easily takes out a carry or 2 before they can do anything and I can deal 1/3-1/2 of their health in damage. I think she's very much a threat and is a great tank.

Yeah, the worst thing is when you're stuck laning with someone who doesn't (seem to) know what her passive is.

Turning a 5v5 into a 4v5 almost assures victory. Focus their support, or their best DPS and move on from there. Leona has single target focus fit to a T. Her ability to control ANY opponent she chooses makes her a veritable threat. What do I mean?
Her short CD stun and Zenith Blade make for a great initating combo. The added bonus is AoE damage from Eclipse going off and your ulti (if it lands), at least that is what I have experienced when playing her. I rush in and my team follows suit, the first person I stun is the first person to die. Before they even have time to react.

From what I've seen, Leona is a really great tanker. It all depends on the team. Leona's team should be high on damage, whichever the case. This way, she MUST be aimed, or else the teamfights would just end tragedically. Just a single ult is way enough to rip my team apart with her teammates. However, against the not so damagy kinda teams, Leona was 99% ignored until the end of the teamfight.
