You need to be close range to trade as lucian due to his short range (500), and with the 5.22 patch, graves HURTS up close. Not to mention his true grit gives him innate tankiness in lane, making it difficult to trade with him. Poke with Q and Ulti and only engage when hes low enough.
Introduction
Hi all, I'm datredphoenix, a Plat IV ADC/Mage main on the OCE servers. I started playing LoL mid S3, and Lucian has been one of my favourite and most played champions. He is a fun, short ranged, high mobility caster in the bottom lane, that relies on spellweaving to maximise DPS. As a fan of mages, caster's like Sivir and Lucian are a nobrainer for me. With the recent changes to items *cough* Essence Reaver *cough* , ADC's that benefit from CDR are seeing a huge boost to their power. All feedback, no matter how negative, will be considered. Lucian is a great champion. He is very good in lane as he can out-trade opponents very easily due to his Lightslinger and can reposition with his Relentless Pursuit to dodge spell's and outplay opponents. He also synergises with a lot of supports, as he can follow up to CC, and when he receives AD/On-hit buffs, such as Janna's Eye of the Storm or Nami's Tidecaller's Blessing, he can use them more effectively than most ADC's as it will also buff his Lightslinger. Great earlygame champ. |

The main detriment to Lucian is his range, which sits at 500, the lowest range of any ADC (besides Graves. This is shared with Sivir. This means he has to get closer to the enemy in order to inflict damage, which gives you less reaction time to dodge skillshots. It can also get you harassed in lane while you're abilities are on cooldown, as they will be able to attack you while you cannot return the damage. Lucian is outscaled by most other carries in lategame, such as Tristana and Vayne. He is pretty weak lategame. |

FEROCITY TREE
Tier 1 // We take Fury in this tree for the DPS increase and easier last hitting. Tier 2 // Feast is great for laning sustain. Perfect for ADC's. Tier 3 // Vampirism is taken for the sustain in lane and in fights. If we aren't building lifesteal, that 2% really helps and you can escape on a sliver of health. Tier 4 // We are the ADC. We are meant to be doing the damage and killing people. If we even kill both our lane opponents, we get a flat 2% extra damage, which is just .5% off Oppressor , up to a cap of 5%. |

CUNNING TREE
Tier 1 // Savagery for an easier time last hitting. Not much to say about this. Tier 2 // Secret Stash is taken for an extra few ticks on your pots, as well as that upfront 20 health and 10 mana that you get when you use a biscuit. This has saved me countless times. Tier 3 // Merciless is a great damage boost to any damage dealer. Outweighs the utility from Meditation . Tier 4 // Dangerous Game : This mastery is amazing. You can get back up to 25% of your missing health and mana per team fight. Huge. Tier 5 // Precision: 14 flat ArPen and 8.4 flat MPen at level 18. Decent. Tier 6 // Thunderlord's Decree : This mastery is absolutely broken right now. It's being grabbed on almost every champ this patch. It is especially prominent on bursty champions. Lucian can proc it with a Piercing Light and a Lightslinger, meaning huge trades in the early game with his in-and-out playstyle, or bursting someone from 100-0 in the lategame. |
Runes
- 3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed: Standard quints for ADC's nowadays. Makes your auto animation easier for last hitting and boosts your DPS.
- 9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage: Damage is damage. Standard quint for ADC's for trading and last hitting. You could take ArPen on other carries, but since Lucian's Piercing Light scales off BONUS AD, these marks are a must.
- 9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: We take flat MR glyphs because ADC's are extremely fragile already, and we need all the resists we can get to try and stay alive and keep DPS'ing.
- 9x Greater Seal of Armor: For the same reason as the MR, we take armour for the survivability it provides. For these, you could opt to take 4x Greater Seal of Armor and 5x Greater Seal of Mana Regeneration.
