Introduction

Lore:
Quoted:
It is said that the man now known as Dr. Mundo was born without any sort of conscience. Instead, he had an unquenchable desire to inflict pain through experimentation. By the time he was five, most of the pets in the Zaun neighborhood where Mundo grew up had gone missing. By his teenage years, his parents were nowhere to be found. By the time he had legally acquired his license to practice medicine, he had been acquitted of thirty-eight separate charges of murder by the Zaun authorities; the lack of evidence made prosecution impossible.

Dr. Mundo has become equal parts serial killer and mad scientist, though no one is entirely sure how his butchery qualifies as science. However, he has made tremendous strides in mapping the pain response in the human brain and body, going so far as being able to suppress it, even in the most excruciating of circumstances. He has also tapped into the primal parts of the brain through chemistry, learning how to enhance aggression and adrenaline, as well as dulling conscience and the survival instinct. In short, Dr. Mundo's life's work has been how to create the perfect science-enhanced killer. Unfortunately, the city-state of Noxus regards such behavior as a sign of initiative and ambition, rather than inhumanity. Originally fighting for Zaun, Dr. Mundo was recruited to also fight for Noxus in the League of Legends; the Madman dual faction status represents the fruits of a blossoming relationship between Zaun and Noxus. He continues his experiments to this day, even using himself as an experimental subject, as evidenced by his disfigured appearance and his... unique manner of speaking. There are rumors that the High Command in Noxus has given him free reign to pursue his life's work in his spare time.

Beware the Madman of Zaun. In his eyes, you are already dead.

Welcome to Withdrew's guide for Dr. Mundo as a full tank! Dr. Mundo doesn't really have any initiating abilities, if any. But the thing he does have is massive health regeneration. At level 10 I've had 52 Health regen with Dr. Mundo.

Runes

The Greater Mark of Health is for Dr. Mundo's passive. The Greater Seal of Health are also for his passive. The Greater Glyph of Armor and the Greater Quintessence of Armor.

For the Second build,

Masteries

For Masteries I go 9-21-0 getting the Cooldown Reduction masteries in offence, the armor, magic resistance, dodge, health, and fortify masteries in defence.

Items

For my first item I usually start off with a Doran's Shield. If the other team seems more AP Caster oriented I can save a bit of money and buy a Regrowth Pendant for more health regen, and get a Health Potion if I want with the Regrowth Pendant.

After Doran's Shield I get Mercury's Treads, though at times when I don't need magic resistance or tenacity I can get Boots of Swiftness. After my boots, I get a Heart of Gold for the extra money and Randuin's Omen soon after Heart.

For Magic Resistance I get a Force of Nature and almost always start off with the Negatron Cloak. After I get Sunfire Aegis, Atma's Impaler, and Guardian Angel in any order I want.

Other good tank items for him are:
Aegis of the Legion for the early game aura
Warmog's Armor for the massive Health Regen
Frozen Mallet if enemies somehow keep getting away
Banshee's Veil for big nukers
Zeke's Harbinger, ask the AD Carries if they want you to get it first
Thornmail for the massive armor

Skills

(Innate): Dr. Mundo is granted 0.3% of his maximum health as bonus health regeneration per second.
This is what's going to get you the massive health regen. Get lots of health and you could be regenerating 150+ health each 5 seconds. (Don't get too much health though, easy counter with Madred's Bloodrazor.

(Active): Dr. Mundo hurls his cleaver in a line to damage the first enemy it hits, dealing magic damage equal to a portion of the enemy's current health and slowing them by 40% for 2 seconds, it has a minimum damage threshold. If Infected Cleaver hits a target, it refunds 50% of the cost.
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Range: 1000
Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 health
Infected Bonesaw is one of the greater skill-shot harass abilities in my opinion. Not the hardest to miss, deals quite a bit of damage if the enemy is building health first, and gives you health back if you actually hit something.

(Toggle): While active, Dr. Mundo will deal continual magic damage per second to nearby enemies and reduces the duration of stuns and slows used on Dr. Mundo.
Cooldown: 4 seconds
Radius of AoE: 175
Cost: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 health per second
Heart Zapper is a decent farming ability, and it can do some damage combined with Sunfire Aegis.

(Active): Increases Dr. Mundo's physical damage by a flat amount for 5 seconds. In addition, Dr. Mundo also gains additional damage for each percent of health he is missing for the duration.
Cooldown: 7 seconds.
Blunt Force Trauma, practically a Wuju Style on a shorter cooldown. With it you can take down turrets easy, and last-hit minions easier.

(Active): Dr. Mundo regenerates a portion of his maximum health over 12 seconds. Additionally, he gains extra movement speed for the duration.
Cost: 20% of current health
Cooldown: 75 seconds
Maximum Dosage. An amazing ult, for the cost of a small amount of health, you get a Ghost on a 75 second cooldown and a completely massive health regen, on the same 75 second cooldown. Pretty amazing.

Skill Sequence

For the first ever ability, I get Infected Bonesaw. After that I get Heart Zapper and Blunt Force Trauma at 2 and 3. 4 and 5 should be more for Infected Bonesaw.

At 6, 11, and 16 of course get your amazing ult Maximum Dosage. The next levels should be back-and-forth Infected Bonesaw and Blunt Force Trauma. Levels 14, 15, 17, and 18 get your Heart Zapper up of course.

Summoner Spells

For Summoner Spells I take Flash and Fortify since I don't need Heal or Ghost. If you want, you can also get Ignite and/or Exhaust, but I don't highly recommend that.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
Blunt Force Trauma works for faster turret kills
Maximum Dosage is a great healer and a free Ghost
Infected Bonesaw will harass/annoy the hell out of the enemy
Heart Zapper is a decent farming tool
Great Passive that works well with health
Can chop enemies' heads off with a butcher knife

Cons:
If you take too much health for your passive you can easily be focused down by a smart AD carry
Susceptible to Casters if you don't take much Magic Resistance
Back to Top

Creeping / Jungling

Nothing to say here, nobody plays Dr. Mundo as a jungler, and I would think he would work terribly.

Team Work

To initiate a team fight, Flash in or just Maximum Dosage close to the other team and sprint in there. Now you have a choice, to either try to focus down one person at a time, or just Heart Zapper and Sunfire Aegis everyone down. Activate Blunt Force Trauma quickly after the fight starts, and throw your Infected Bonesaw everywhere and anywhere. Hopefully the team focuses you, if you die don't worry, an off-tank should be there like Nasus and your team will probably win with you there tanking all the damage 3/4 of the whole fight. While they're aced, tell your team to get their ***es into their base and destroy their Nexus before they come back.

In the unlikely event of you losing, hopefully you have a much shorter respawn time than the other team and you get up quickly. Look at whatever lane they're about to focus, and get in there and start Heart Zapper the minions and Infected Bonesawing the champions.

Farming

Easy to know how to farm, activate Heart Zapper and Blunt Force Trauma if you want and watch those minions' health go down.

Summary

Overall, Dr. Mundo is a great tank. He can even be built as an off-tank AD, although I've never tried it, I've heard it works pretty well. Get out there, pummel some faces, tank all that damage, Cleaver some *****es, and kill those turrets.
