Sorry I am late

Thy sins
1. Q maxed last. I think you are really underestemating the importance of lvling your Q. It reduces to cooldown of all your other abilities more frequently ánd it procs Lich Bane. I would max it second at most.
2. CDR should be a higher priority than Ludens and/or Rabadon's
3. Table of contents not noticable enough
4. If cleanse is considered an option for a summoner spell, so should barrier.
5. "recomend"
6. "Lastly, we take Thunderlord's Decree since it is the best option for burst mages." Ezreal is a sustained long range damage dealer though, making him more pokey than actual bursting down. Bursting down would mean that you can kill someone after doing a full rotation, Ezreal can't do that unless he is far ahead. Thunderlords is still good on him though.
7. "This is your go to item when you are looking to snowball from the start of the game." Pls no. Guides are meant for noobies, noobies die more often. Let the fun experimentors use that item. Don't recommend it.
8. "(Mystic shot won't proc it because it deals physical damage)." And that is why I disagree with taking Luden's Echo so early as well not second maxing Q. Q has a very short cooldown, synergises greatly with Lich Bane, so get it first. Allows for good poke as well as easier farming and CDR.
9. "but I don't really recommend to get this boots over Sorcerer's Shoes or Ionian Boots of Lucidity." Yes you do. You recommend it for when you are bad at positioning or dodging CC with Arcane shift. If not, then why is it in the guide?
10. "Consider buying Abyssal Scepter if you are having troubles in lane against a mage that has kill pressure on you." This item is meant for champions that deal magical damage ánd are close to the enemies while in combat. If you are close to the enemies in combat as Ezreal, you are doing it wrong. If you want MR, go for Banshees or Athene's instead.
11. "Archangel's Staff is not a bad item by no means, but I don't think it really suits AP Ezreal so much." Then don't recommend it.
12. "AP EZREAL DEALS A LOT OF DAMAGE" Thats nice and all, but is it total damage or damage vs champions? There is a huge difference between doing a lot of damage by using your ult on minions vs the amount of damage you deal by killing enemies.
13. "WHY YOU SHOULD READ THIS GUIDE" That is not something to be put at the end of the guide, rather something up front. Also these are mostly normal games and in the introduction you stated that he was "even for ranked". Would be nice to see a row of ranked games instead.
14. Not all items in the cheatsheet are explained in the guide and not all items explained in the guide are in the cheatsheet.

Thy blessing
1. Well structured cheatsheet
2. Good use of coding and structure
3. All basics included

Result: Path of Redemption
Although the guide looked very good and there were a lot of other things that were good, there is still a lot to improve.

I disagreed with a lot of build choices (where I made the number grey), but to be fair I don't play as much as I used to so I didn't count those sins towards your end result. However, there are still a lot of explanations you can improve as well as the representation of your guide.

Focus your guide on what is good, focus on creating a story with a beginning and an end rather than a collection of topics. If you are going to say that burst and DPS have a specific and important meaning in your guide, then explain them at the start, not the end.

It is important to understand as a writer that all the information in your guide is structured as such that all the general information used in more detailed sections are put in front instead of the back. Don't put in information you don't recommend and when you do, keep them clearly seperated from the rest of the guide and focus on the noobtraps instead of just possible choices.

Hopefully you can use the advice I gave you. If you have any questions, please PM me, I might not see your response if you would do so in this comment section.

Good luck
~ Meiyjhe

Okay, after reading this guide and playing ap ez, i officially am playing him has my main. Just did a match with the build suggested and crushed. screenshots below. Created a mobafire account just to show it off. Both screenshots from same game.

Welcome to the "Ezreal Main" train buddy, I'm glad I helped you out. Keep crushing :)

I feel like full AP doesn't take full advantage of Ezreal's kit. Ezreal is the definition of hybrid and this patch is so good for hybrid champs. Just look at the masteries! Natural talent gives ad and ap. Thunderlord's decree scales off ad and ap. Deathfire touch scales off ad and ap. Hybrid items also got a huge buff. Guinsoo's rageblade is OP right now and gunblade is strong. For those reasons, I feel that the age of hybrid Ezreal is here. Rageblade rush for extra waveclear and attack speed into Gunblade for sustain and burst (gun blade gives health based on total damage on not based on ap or ad which is very strong on Ezreal). Both give ad and ap which both increase Ezreal's damage (except for W).

My suggestion would be Rageblade (for damage, as, and waveclear), sheen+cdr boots (for CDR and extra Q damage), Bilgewater cutlass into hextech gunblade (for burst and sustain), and follow all that up with morello and lichbane (for mana, mana regen, CDR, and damage). Last item can be defensive (Zonya's, GA, Banshee) or offensive (Rab's, Luden, void).

Overall, this build is VERY strong early and mid, but WILL fall off very hard. It is hard to build defensively against this build early because of his mixed damage, but MR in the late game will be killer due to his AD damage falling off. But that shouldn't be an issue because this season is all about hitting hard and hitting fast and either forcing an ff at 20 minutes or pushing to end at 21 minutes and that is where this build shines. If you farm well and quickly get your 2 items plus sheen then it is over. If you let it get into the late game then you may find yourself shooting spitballs at the enemy team.

Hey Titanaz, thanks for commenting.

Yeah, I like your point about the masteries. Pre-season 6 has just born and I'm still trying out new masteries and things. I think Thunderlord's Decree is totally the way to go, gotta change that. And flat pen is better. Thunderlord's decree stacks with Luden's Tempest's passive, which is crazy.

Looking forward to see your calculations. I think the source of my guide is sort of outdated, so may have to update that part too. Yeah, Lich Bane is great now with the CDR, Sheen doesn't give AP anymore but still a viable fist back item.

Looking forward to hear from you

Hi again,

So few days ago I calculated my ult damage on 42 MR (i picked 42 MR, because it it common to have this amount of MR with flat MR glyphs) target while being level 13. Im not sure how realictic it is to have these items at level 13, but just for the sake of calculation I assumed so.

Items:

1)Dorans ring, Sorc shoes, ludens, lich bane, void staff + large rod

VS

2)dorans ring, sorc shoes, ludens, lichbane, deathcap.

Void staff + large rod costs 2650+1250=3900 gold, while rabadons costs 3800, so i think its fare to compare them.

Ability power:

1) 20(dorands)+100(ludens)+80(lichbane)+80(void staff)+60(large rod)+(15 ap quints)+7,15(natural talent mastery)= 362,15 AP

2) (20(dorands)+100(ludens)+80(lichbane)+120(rabadons)+(15 ap quints)+7,15(natural talent mastery) ) *1,35 (rabadons passive)= 461,9 AP

Damage reduction:

with both cases we have same flat Mpen: 15(sorc shoes)+7,83(runes)+6,9(precision mastery at level 13)= 29,73 Flat Mpen.

1) (42*0,65)-29,73= -2,43 MR. So we leave our target with 0 MR, and we still have 2,43 MR "unused". No Damage reduction

2) 42-29,73= 12,27 MR. then damage reduction (100/(12,27+100))*100%=89,07%. So we will only deal 89,07% of actual damage.

Damage before reduction:

1) Level 2 ultimate 500 damage + 0,9(ratio) * 362,15= 825,9 damage

2) Level 2 ultimate 500 damage + 0,9(ratio) * 461,9= 915,7 damage

Damage after reduction:

1) No reduction, so 825,9 damage.

2) 915,7* 89,07%= 815,61

As you can see level 2 ultimate at level 13 on 42mr target would do more damage with void+rod than dcap would.
After thinking a bit I realized that this is not really an optimal representation of which one to choose because ultimate has very high base damage compare to W and E abilities. I also realized that it is probably not very smart to calculate damage done by these abilities separately because we have a lot of magic damage sourced from our spell+items. So I decide to calculate magic damage done from our whole combo and then compare it which is probably better representation of what is better.

So our magic damage combo consists of :

lich bane proc, ludens proc, thunderlords decree mastery, W, E, R. Im not taking physical damage from Q in account, because I only care about magic damage right now.

Magic damage before reduction:

1) (82(base ad)*0,75+362,15*0,5(lich bane))+ (100+362,15*0,1(ludens proc))+ (130+362,15*0,1(thunderlord's decree at level 13))+ (250+362,15*0,8)( W ability))+ (275+362,15*0,75)(E ability)+ (500+362,15*0,9(Ultimate))=2457,24 magic damage

2) (82(base ad)*0,75+461,9*0,5(lich bane))+ (100+461,9*0,1(ludens proc))+ (130+461,9*0,1(thunderlord's decree at level 13))+ (250+461,9*0,8)( W ability))+ (275+461,9*0,75)(E ability)+ (500+461,9*0,9(Ultimate))=2771,48 magic damage

Damage After reduction:

1) No reduction, so 2457,25 damage.

2) 2771,48* 89,07%= 2468,56 damage.

It is almost eaqual vs target with only 42 mr. Of course if most of enemy team only has 30 base MR (which is rare), then rabadons is much much better. Another thing to look at is that you will not always have ludens proc+thunderlors decree up. In that case, rabadons comes out a bit ahead.

I will now provide you some full combo damage values versus targets with different MR values.

50 MR:

1) 2391 2) 2304

60 MR:

1) 2248 2) 2127

70 MR:

1) 2122 2) 1976

80 MR:

1) 2009 2) 1844

90 MR:

1) 1908 2) 1729

100 MR:

1) 1816 2) 1628

As you can see, its probably better to go for void staff, if you enemy team has at least 50 mr. Waiting for them to get 100 MR like you said in your guide is not very smart.

Another VERY VERY important thing to notice is that you can buy void staff 1150 gold cheaper and benefit from it's passive A LOT earlier which definitely makes void staff a better purchase.

Now leaving the penetration topic I want to talk about hextec gunblade. It got reworked. IT now heals you for 15% of all damage dealth. So your lichbane, ludens, thunderlords decree damage can all heal you. Lage game 1 Q can easily heal you for 150 health. It gives good stats (80 ap+ 40ad) and ezreal scales well with both ad and ap ( Q, E and R all has AP ratios). Now to make it even better it has an activatable ability to deal damage (late game it can deal about 450 damage). IT gives us extra burst power, and also can slow your target. Gunblade is very good if enemy doesn't have hard diving targets to kill you instantly. It is very viable 6th item atm.

I hope this information was usefull

Hi, great guide. I also started maining ap ezreal last season and had a lot of success and so much fun playing him.

I like this new season a lot with lich bane buffs and new masteries. But I use 18 points in cunning, because I find flat penetration to be more efficient and also I like Thunderlord’s decree much better. I just think it scales better and adds a lot of dmg to your burst.

I agree with ludens and lich bane starting items totally. Funny enough, today I spent like 2 hours making calculations on rabadons vs void staff 3rd item. Funny enough I found it to be as efficient to buy void staff as it is compared rabadons even vs target with 42mr. If target has more mr void staff does much better. I will post my calculations here in the beginning of next week, because right now in typing this from my phone.

Thanks for a great read!

Hey there, I am the author of the other AP Ezreal guide here on mobafire, AP Ezreal the unholy burst. I've taken the time to read through your guide, and I think you've done a very good job at formatting this guide and giving a nice explanation of most aspects of the champion. Only thing I would contribute is I feel that perhaps some of what makes Ezreal so powerful as a burster has been lost in the construction of the build, namely the defensive items and your choice of runes, which I believe are going to make your early game extremely difficult to maintain while giving little to your overall late game survivability. I also feel perplexed by the Ahri matchup, because I feel Ezreal should have no issues with this matchup, being able to Arcane Shift over the charm that Ahri players rely upon to deal their full damage. I am going to run some tests on your advised runes and build to see how they fair. Overall really like this guide, it's very similar to my own! Keep it up man :)

Hey! Thank you to have taken the time to read through the entirety of my guide. Thanks for the tips, it's true that I may have stated that Ahri is more of a challenge to AP Ezreal than what it should be. Now that I think about it, I'm probably going to change that, just by keeping your distance + staying behind the minion waive + good reaction time will deny a lot of Ahri's power. Good point about the defensive items, I really never build them actually.

About the runes, well I think is not so bad to have a little more survivability in lane with the MR and Scaling health runes, but in the "Runes" section I added more options to increase your damage output if you wanna go full glass canon.

Last but not least, your guide was the one that got me into AP Ezreal in the first place, so thank you :)
