The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Welcome, mortals and immortals.
Once upon a time there was a Jax who could be very healthy (I mean RLY FAT) and even could dodge attacks. Good times flew away, hard times came, but never bad times.
New patch crawled and totally changed Jax's ultimate. Again. Since then, I couldnt stop thinking about that change. Riots made Jax kinda the way more survivable then it was. To be honest, I didnt play Jax a lot after Riots have changed his passive. But after last patch Jax stuck in my mind. So here are some ideas.
Not the most interesting story.
As I said before, I couldnt stop thinking about Jax's changes. I remember I played Jax using Rageblade and Trinity and since then it was a perfect choice for hybrid. Not so long ago I tried AD Jax as a carry. Well, it was fun a little, but mostly - boring. I must notice that that armor increase was the only good thing.
The next game I faced Katarina top, Swain on mid and Shyvana as a jungler (actually it doesnt matter who was on bot :D). The only idea was - play AP Jax, because of his ulti. And know what? I stood tall! It worked and even Kata's Death Lotus wasnt so annoying/lethal as it has to be.
Any player may notice that Jax, after he gets level 6, becomes much more agressive as a liner. And if you play a AP Jax, but not the Hybrid Jax, it is a Holy true. Jax's ulti has a "mad" AP scaling. That's a reason.
Once, if you did Rabadon's Deathcap or next item and you begin to notice that opponents are kinda focusing you, it is really useful to buy Zhonya's Hourglass.
I am kind of fan of superordinary builds and I really like new Guinsoo's Rageblade. Pretty imbalanced item in favor of Jax in mid-game.
Yep, the point is maxing CDR and spam Empower. But still we have to make early as easy as possible so max sustain and making last_hits easier.
In the first build we have Nashor's Tooth + Blue pot which equals loads of CDR, right what we wanted.
In the second build we have Deathfire Grasp, Blue pot, not so good but still quiet enough.
How does it work?
Easily. Empower has low mana cost, you may use it to last_hit minions. Remember, Empower refreshes your autoattack cooldown so it is free autoattack with bonus damage. In late-game the combo of Empower+Ulti's proc is quite lethal for some persons who have bad magic resistance.
Dont forget, you are not so powerful early game. Sometimes, even armor runes cant help you (Riven <\3 Lee sin <\3 Rengar <\3 Renenkton <\3). If enemy jungler camps top, I could suggest buying extra pots once enemy decides to freeze lane. Otherwise you dont need it.
Kinda yeah, there is one very weak point, especially if person is really used to play AD jax. No slows. Only one Hextech Gunblade throw... Well, if it really makes difference, Rylai's scepter might work as hell but we need a room. Hextech+Lichbane is absolutely insane combo, Dcap makes loads of AP aswell. If you feed you really need some slow on emenies, ask team to pick Ezreal :) Or build Iceborn Gauntlet yourself (such a gay item) - that's a thing!
So.. I dont know :D Make mad assasin oneshot plays without Guardian Angel I guess?
Well, it is my first guide on mobafire (and first guide if we are talking about LoL), hope I could help. If you want me to write something else, You are welcome!
