Introduction

Welcome to my first Guide, with a pretty special Character, the 100th Character Riot made!

Jayce, the Defender of Tomorrow

He's a very special and unique Character, thanks to his "Ultimate" he can switch Weapons.
Between the Mercury Hammer and the Mercury Cannon.
I personally prefer the Mercury Cannon, but even when you play him like a ranged AD you will sometimes switch to the Hammer, not only because it will increase your Damage on the next Attack you do, the Q is slowing Enemies and the passive of W is very useful as you regenerate Mana for every Strike with the Hammer, but we will talk on that later in the Guide.

In this Section of the Guide I will talk about the Pros and Cons of Jayce.

So if you just can't decide to buy this Champ or not, this will propably help you.

+ Good CC.
+ Ranged and Melee.
+ Good Mana Regen thanks to W.

As you can see I chose Greater Mark of Desolation to dish out some extra Damage, then you don't have to rush a Last Whisper or something.
Greater Seal of Armor will help you stay on your Lane, as you won't receive too much Damage.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist does help against those pesky AP Casters in Mid-Late Game.
And finally the Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage will help you deal more Damage, and Last Hitting will be easier.

Alternatives



For the Marks the Greater Mark of Attack Damage or the Greater Mark of Attack Speed are some nice Options, too.
For Seals the Greater Seal of Health or Greater Seal of Attack Speed.
For Glyphs, you can choose the Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction or Greater Glyph of Magic Resist.
And finally for the Quintessences, you can get the Greater Quintessence of Health or Greater Quintessence of Desolation.

Masteries

Yeah, so here we go with the Masteries:

Summoner's Wrath for finishing off an Enemy, trying to run away or versus Champs like Dr. Mundo.
Brute Force for some extra Damage and easier Last Hitting.
Alacrity for some extra Attack Speed even though it is not much.
Weapon Expertise , well I think I don't have to say anything about it. 10% Armor Penetration is very good.
Deadliness leaves you with 9 extra AD at level 18, not much, but it's something, take it.
Lethality gives you a nice bonus to your Criticals, must have for DPS.
Vampirism sometimes saves your ***. Worth taking it.
Sunder , again some Armor Penetration, very nice.
Executioner is not the best Option, but it will help you finish off some People.
Hardiness is a must have, as it adds 6 Armor, which is nice at early game.
Durability adds a nice HP Bonus, which is awesome.
Veteran's Scars can help you early game.

Skill Sequence

This is the Skill Sequence I'm used to play with.
The early Thundering Blow / Acceleration Gate will do insane Damage to the enemy Carry, as it increases the Damage of To The Skies! / Shock Blast. That 40% are insane at Mid-Lategame and you will love it.

I'm maxing Lightning Field / Hyper Charge second, because it will let you regenerate your Mana at an insane Amount when it is at Level 5, it is nice for farming with the Hammer and it does very high Damage with the Cannon.

Summoner Spells

Summoner Spells are pretty important, as you can escape easily with Flash or Ghost, or attack the Enemy with Ignite or Exhaust.

Favorites


SPACE This one is awesome, you can either use it offensively to kill an enemy Champion or defensively to save your ***.

SPACE Awesome skill, with this one you can break the Enemy regeneration or kill Enemies with low Life.

SPACE This one can be used offensively and defensively too and will turn the Fight if used right.


Alternatives



SPACE Even though it got nerfed, it's still very useful and can save your ***, once again.

SPACE It's good and you can save your Tower with this, I would only take this at 5v5 and maybe Dominion.

SPACE Perfect for chasing an enemy Champion, or getting away of a bad situation. Not my favorite Skill, but it's nice.
In my opinion, your Thundering Blow / Acceleration Gate gives you enough Speed.


Bad Picks



SPACE You have a very good Mana Regeneration thanks to your W, just don't take it.

SPACE Let your Support take it, it's just not worth it, as you can get way better ones.

Items

Now let's get to the Items, there are several Options to choose from.
I won't go over every single Item, but i will explain a few Decisions i made.

Starting Items




Pretty basic, you will not run out of Life so quickly and it will let you run away easy, you can go and get a...



... if you got a Support on the same Lane or if you just prefer it over the Boots of Speed.


Early Game





This will make sure you are dealing Damage, the extra Sustain from Vampiric Scepter will help you staying on your Lane. The extra Attackspeed, Movementspeed and Critical Strike Chance from Zeal will help you too, and it is a great Combination with Vampiric Scepter, the Sheen however, will help you deal more damage, as it offers 100% Bonus Damage for every Strike after an Ability has been triggered.


Mid Game





This is pure awesomeness! The Trinity Force will increase your AD, Attack Speed and it offers a nice Slow and the Bonus from Sheen. A sweet Addition to this is The Bloodthirster, it will increase your Damage significantly and you will have even more Life Steal once it's powered, After that go grap a Giant's Belt and a Chain Vest, this will ensure that you survive on your Lane. Build Warmog's Armor out of your Giant's Belt, and you will be pretty much good to go.


End Game




Once you hit End Game, things are getting even more fun, because you are doing so much Damage with your E,Q Combo.



Frozen Mallet will give you another nice HP Boost and will make your Slow even better. Atma's Impaler will help you ALOT, because you already got much HP you will get a nice Damage Boost and some Armor too!

Situational Items

There are pretty many Items out there, but not all of them are useful for us, so let's see which are Possibilities.


Offensive Items



SPACE It's perfect for Enemies with some Armor Items, and it's the perfect Counter to a Chain Vest.

SPACE It does offer a nice AD Bonus and you can utilize your Phantom Dancer even more.

SPACE If you have Problems killing a Tank, pick this Item up, it will help you against those HP Stackers.


Defensive Items



SPACE That's the Item you want if you are receiving too much Damage from the Enemy AD Carries.

SPACE It gives you a nice bonus to your AD and will keep the safe from enemy APs.

Team Work

Jayce got some nice Skills to support your Team.

If you see that one of your allies gets chased try to give him a Thundering Blow / Acceleration Gate, so he can run away.
You can use Thundering Blow / Acceleration Gate to kick an enemy Champion away, this can save your *** sometimes.

Your To The Skies! / Shock Blast can slow the Enemy down, so he can't chase you or one of your allies or it can secure a Kill.

As you can see Jayce got many Skills to save his or his allies ***, or even secure a kill.
Try to stick with your Team, because you can help MUCH.

Farming

Farming is pretty easy with Jayce, as you can use your Thundering Blow / Acceleration Gate To The Skies! / Shock Blast Combo to harass the Enemy.

For farming use your Lightning Field / Hyper Charge as it only costs 40 Mana. You can easily regenerate that Mana with a few Strikes with the Hammer, thanks to the Lightning Field / Hyper Charge's Passive.

Your Lightning Field / Hyper Charge does insane Damage, use it too, as it only costs 40 Mana!

Jayce is a great, unique and versatile Champion and I like playing him alot.
