Introduction


Hi! I am MagicalDream. This is my very first guide on Mobafire.
Always wanted to make 1 , and here it is.
My indepth Jax guide.
Why Jax? Because he is one of the most fun champions to play in the League.
I am making this guide because i wanna explain people how I play Jax and how i can win with him!
I really hope you will enjoy this Guide!

Ps). I am from the Netherlands. U might have noticed allready , but my english isn't that great ^^
Pps). First time working with these weird BB-Codes .. Give me some help // Support in it <:)

Greater Seal of Resilience Seals (x9)
    Gives you 1.41 Armor --> 13 Armor at the start of the game.
    Good for the early game.


Greater Mark of Strength Marks (x9)
    Gives you 0.95 Attack Damage --> 9.0 Attack Damage at the start of the game.
    I like this especially in the early game , for that extra needed Attack Damage, and late game its not very bad.


Greater Glyph of Force Glyphs (x9)
    Gives you 0.17 Alibity Power each lvl. Thats like 1 AP every time you level Up!
    Good for late game. Especially with my build , where my 4th Core item will be with Ability power. So you will have some Alibity power early game.


Greater Quintessence of Might (x2)
    Gives you 0.25 Attack Damage each level.
    Great for late game aswell. , 0.50 everytime you will level up!


Greater Quintessence of Force (x1)
    Gives you 0.43 Ability power each level.
    7.50 at level 18. I like it for late game.


Greater Quintessence of Vamparism is possible!

Relentless Assault



Jax passive Relentless Assault is one of the greater passives in the game. It gives you Attack Speed based on your level:


  • Level 1-3 : 4% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 24%)
  • Level 4-6 : 6% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 36%)
  • Level 7-9 : 8% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 48%)
  • Level 10-12 : 10% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 60%)
  • Level 13-15 : 12% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 72%)
  • Level 16-18 : 14% attack speed bonus (total bonus is 84%,


Leap Strike



Jax Q ability is a Leap Strike , it is your close gap spell. It deals good damage early game when you level it , and can be Powered by Empower , your W . The best thing about this spell is , it can target friendly units! Like shaco traps, Teemo shrooms and even wards!


  • Great gap closer!
  • When u level it up early ,
    great for damage and u can jump
    more times in a battle.


Empower



Jax W ability is Empower , Which cause Jax next basic attack to deal bones Magic damage to your target. This scales with AP. This resets your auto attack timer. This can also be activated to deal damage ontop of your Q , Leap Strike.


  • Resets your auto attack timer
  • Great ability with Sheen --> Trinity Force!
  • Can pefrom Burst --> Attack , Empower Attack , Attack.
    (within 1 second you hit him 3 times. Great Damage!


Counter Strike



Jax his E ability is Counter Strike , which will block ALL incoming basic attacks for 2 second. You can activate this ability early for a quick stun. This ability to open a Team-Fight. Because its an Area stun. Not just single target. However , Jax is not the best character to open a Team-Fight. Because you are an Off-Tank , squishy after all.
The more attacks Counter Strike blocks, the more damage it deals to the enemy's will hit.


  • It dodge's + stuns!
  • Great for escaping fights
  • Decreases AOE damage (when u activate it)
  • Great for Team-Fights!


Grandmaster's Might



Jax Ultimate is Grandmaster's Might which has a Passive and an active ability.

Passive: Hitting three Consecutive times enhances Jax next attack for bonus magic damage. Scales , with ability power. This passive works with lifesteal // Spellvamp.

Active: Jax gains bonus armor and magic resist (Scaling with your AD and AP) for 8 seconds. This makes you alot more Tanky. This means that if you are facing some heavy AD / AP teams , u get more Armor and Magic Resist. So waaaayyy more tanky!


  • Great passive!
  • More Beef!
  • Works well with some items // Combo!




Jax Combo:



Active E ( Counter Strike ) and jump to your target with Q ( Leap Strike ). Hit him with an basic attack , Use your W ( Empower ) and hit him with another basic attack. Dealing alot of damage! Attack again , activating your passive from your ultimate ( Grandmaster's Might). Giving you more bonus Magic Damage. U could have also activated the ultimate , for bonus Armor and Magic Resist. So you would not take very much damage from attacks of the opponent u are ganking!

I like this the most because it gives u sustain in the jungle + it is good for the Wriggles.

I dont like to use this because of his Tankyness.
I like the Cloth Armor way more because like i said earlier , Jax is not that Tanky. So u will need that Cloth Armor. Not saying that Boots of Speed aren't good on Jax , But you wil need a other Masterie and Rune page if you wanna start with Boots of Speed

This is your Core. This is aMUST have on Jax. Boots are situational.
Trinity is very strong with his W Empower

These are the things i like to get on Jax. Ofcourse you can get some others , like a Wit's End or a Youmuu's Ghostblade

Guardian Angel Because of the Revive, Armor and Magic Resist. More Tanky , what Jax lacks at the moment.

Hextech Gunblade Because of the Lifesteal / Spellvamp. The active which deals Magic damage. And ofcourse because of the Attack damage and the Ability power.

Frozen Mallet The Health is really good on Jax for more Tankyness. Also that slow is great!

These are my end game items. Ofcourse situational. These are what i build almost every game, if i come to the end game.


Some good items are:


Health Items:





Warmog's Armor Is great, Gives much Hp and Hp Regen! Great early as late game. Early game you are unkillable. Get this if your TOP is not tanky.



Frozen Mallet Is nice, Perma slow if chasing ( great with your Q) and gives much HP and a little bit Attack Damage. If u choose this one. Dont choose Trinity Force. The slow of Trinity is good enough for me. But if you would like MOAARRR slow , choose this one !


Armor Items:





Randuin's Omen Gives Much Armor, and alot of Health Regen. Good active , which slows every enemy Champion is the area. Upgrade your Heart of Gold to the Randuin's Omen at the late game.



Frozen Heart Is a VERY good item on Jax, and even better if the Top lainer of the enemy team is a AD like a Nasus or a Riven or a Irelia. Gives nice CoolDown Reduction. Nice armor!


Magic Resist Items:





Wit's End Great for the attack speed and good Magic resist early game. DONT get this late game. It will fall off.



Force of Nature Good late game. Gives movement speed as well. Good for chasing people with your Q! Good if the enemy team has a Fed AP.




These are all great items on Jax
There are ofcourse more items which will fit Jax Nicely. But these are the ones I use.

Summoner Spells








Pick Smite always when jungling. No reason to pick smite when top laining.




Flash is great overall , but some people dont need flash because you can jump over walls with your Q Leap Strike --> Sight Ward.




Ghost is not really fitting my gamestyle. Its good for chasing. But if you build your Trinity Force or your Frozen Mallet theres no need to pick Ghost in my opinion.



Heal is great for sustain at top. Again , if jungling.. No need to grab this.



Ignite Is great for top laine. Again .. Ur at the Jungle. NOT needed.



Exhaust Get this when toplaining. BUT , u can also grab this while you are jungling. Some people dont want flash because they can jump to sight ward so its possible.

Jungling


Now lets talk about the jungle. Where do you start with Jax?
I like to start at the Wolves. Grabbing a first level in (e) Counter Strike and getting help from my mid. Then i go to the Blue. After that is your choise. You can gank top. IF you do this. Grab a point in Q Leap Strike. If you dont gank , grab a point in W Empower. For more easy jungling. Go to the wraiths afterwards. If you've had a GOOD leash , you have used only 1 Health Potion. Or maybe 2. After the wraith , look for mid. Is it gankable? yes or no ? After that, go to the Golems. This is the harder thing. Here you will use the most potions. Like 2 or 3 Health Potion. After that go to the Red and Smite it. ( The cooldown is UP). Next , gank bot or mid. Or get Wraiths and Wolves and go back.

You should be level 4. Or maybe Higher if you have had some good ganks!


After this , get your Boots of Speed and a Vampiric Scepter for more sustain. And some Health Potion . Again , if you've had a good gank , you will have more gold to spend. So that will be different.

Advanced Warding

Jungling :


Your Wriggles Lanturn is used for alot of ways. Jumping over walls , to prevent using your flash. That is why i love to use my Wriggles. So always keep one Sight Ward in your inventory.

Orange Star:

This is for the Early -- To defend your Mid. When i have my wriggles i love to place them there.

Green Star:

When your team Won the middle laine so u can place more advanced Sight ward.

Blue Star:

If your middle laine is losing. More like a defensive strategy. So u know where they are!

Laining

If you are holding a laine , for instance, TOP. Make sure you dont go to aggresive:



Green

= Safe

Yellow

= Watch it! Might be possible to gank u , so play it safe and wait for your TOP-Lainer to come back.

Orange

= Danger, can gank you easily. Place a Ward to prevent that!

Red Dots

= Ward placements! Places for a sight ward.
