Hello sumoners! My summoner name is Hulking Grimm (NA) am an experienced Malphite player that has easy 100+ Malphite games spanned over ranked and normals. I really wanted to make this guide because there is no updated guide for a Malphite support for this preseason. I thought I could share what little knowledge I have to the community. Malphite in my opinion can be considered an OP support. Your Q poke, armor and all-ins make Malphite a formidable opponent in the bot lane. Especially if you have a competent carry with you. If you see anything I can add or do better on this page please feel free to comment! Don't be too critical!

Pros:
- Great Peel
- Tank
- Damage Output
- Poke is insane w/ slow

Cons:
- Not full tank
- Mana problems throughout
- Doesn't like CC AT ALL

On runes, you have so many options. You take armor seals for the added tankyness, and 1 quint of armor because you still want a little flat armor early. 7 MR glyphs because of the support poke that you will encounter. 9 AP marks and 1 AP Quint for your damage ouput early. Then you want 1 movement speed quint because you can never have enough movement speed on malphite. It will help out your roaming potential. You will have 19.5% added movement speed when going through the river to roam with your runes and masteries. That can make the difference in a clutch situation.

- We take a point in Explorer for better roam potential.
- 6 points in Ferocity for extra damage in your Q poke.
- 6 points in Cunning for the added roaming potential and biscuits for health & mana.
- We take an even amount in swiftness and legendary guardian for a little added tenacity.
- Bond of Stone. Just take it.

Same thing as in the notes. You want the added damage and tankyness for this build to still synergize well. Keep in mind you will KS ALOT. It just comes in the nature of a good support malphite. We want the Bond of Stone because it can really save your ADC when it comes down to it. Its really the only viable keystone on ol malph.

The items you want and notes for them can be found in notes next to the items to make it easy. Really for the early poke and the current itemization on any kind of champ that can use more than 1 ability with AP in the bot lane as a support, you want to take spellthief. This item when it is fully upgraded to FQC can save an ally, peel for a teammate, and just be so annoying. Definitely the best thing to start with on our support malphite. The balance of AP/Armor/MR can make him a force to be reckoned with. You really aren't a pure tank so with these item combinations you don't want to just be the first one in a prolonged fight when teammates aren't around. You are an AP bruiser so you will still hurt. Although being the first one in can be the right thing to do while teammates are close to help.

R

-Upgrade as quick as you can because this is your main source of engage into any confrontation, or an easy get away. Best peel for your ADC or a wombo combo set up. Remember you do a lot of damage with this ability 400 damage at max upgrade + 1 to 1 scaling on your Ability power make this a perfect damage ability.

Q

-Will be the first ability you max out because it is your main source of damage and you will poke so hard with your AP ratio giving you 60% of your AP to your Q which is quite a lot.

E

-Your Ground Slam is a nice way to do a little bit of extra damage to a champion while in close range. Armor and your AP will synergize with your E. This ability can also be used to clear minion waves quick.

W

We will go ahead and max our W last because we do not use a lot of basic attacks in the build mainly but can be used in a dire situation of course and certainly does scale end game with our Armor/AP build.

List of champions that synergize well with malphite:

- Orianna with her Ultimate ablity.

- Yasuo, his ultimate when you knock them up.

- Honestly these two are the best at synergizing with your ultimate ability. You cant go wrong picking with these champions in mind.

All in all playing Malphite is not a hard thing to do. He is a pretty straightforward champion that can be played by anyone of any elo. He can play in almost any role in the rift. The support side is the only way that I personally play Malphite and just because I have a set way I play Malphite does not mean that that is the only way to build him. Experiment! Make it fun.
