Introduction

Well, well well, you should be thinking, wtf!?, what's wrong with you?, you start making guides with a nice champ like mundo, next you go crazy and make a guide of zilean and now you gotta be kidding me right?, you make a guide of Ryze, Im out of here.

Well, that's not exactly what you should think right now and ill show you why.

Ryze forgotten by most of the summoners, it's now one of the most badass and crazy damage dealers of the league. In season 1 he was an insta-ban-lock-win on rankeds, in season 2 he was cool until the rework, f mana ryze of season 2 really, f him. Now in season 3 he becomes a monster, a killing machine, a meat grinder and a pain in the as* for the ADC.

This is mostly because of the new items of season 3, just look at the item chapter to see what's going on.

The most disturbing part of the guide, probably.

Well, I guess after seeing the runes you're like, "I tought this was an AP carry guide", and it is, but it's not the common APC you're used to, Ryze isn't just another APC, he's Ryze, the Mana Lord, he doesn't need AP, well, that's quite ironic, cause he's an APC.

The biggest advantage of Ryze is how hard he counters the enemy APC and ADC, and he's the nemesis of Veigar (if there's still someone using him) and that's cause he works with mana and not AP, this little detail gives you the opportunity to get other Runes.

Armor and MR Runes

Well, as I said your greatest advantage it's how hard you counter the enemy APC and ADC, you can choose this runes (flat) to dominate low level or get the other that gives you like twice armor and MR at lvl 18 to become more tanky at late.

Magic Penetration Runes

Obviously you need these cause your Skill damage is magic damage, even if you become a hard hitter with auto-attacks your ridiculous AoE magic damage is there and it needs penetration to be useful.

Masteries

You're not the common mid champ, you must remember you're Ryze, and the mana Lord refuses to use AP masteries with the exception of the first three of the offensive tree, you'll get everything you need with this masteries set, lets make a list.

Cooldown Reduction. CHECK

Magic Penetration. CHECK

Mana. CHECK

Mana regeneration per sec. CHECK

Spells Cooldown Reduction. CHECK

Bonus EXP. CHECK

Movement Speed. CHECK

Now you should understand why you got this masteries, enjoy being faster and having less Cooldown than your enemy and poke them till you get rich.

Items

You need mana, you need mana and you need mana.

Probably the core of the build cause it makes you a real deadly champ, it gives you tons of mana, that makes your spells better, and if you have lots of mana you have more auto-attack damage, that's simply great, cause you have lots of mana, and you can end dealing like 800 hits, simply WOW. (This is a real number that I got with full build)

Hmm, someone called the magic penetration master?

Diving a tower was never so fun until Riot opened the chest of treasures and let us have the ohmwrecker, this little thing gives you, Mana, HP, AP and regeneration of both. If you tought this was all of the item, you're wrong, it's cheap and cheaper cause its made of a "Philosopher's just great, and that's not all, you can troll the towers and with no DLC needed, just use it's active ability and enjoy 2.5 seconds of towers not giving a f about you.

Old but gold Banshee is always an item to consider no matter what role are you playing, in Ryze it's just awesome, free shield for saying to the enemy APC F your spell, mana to boost your abilities, health to say goodbye to the burst killers and magic resistance to end full countering the enemy AP, just a perfect item to say: F you AP guys.

I told you about mana like 2 or 3 times, im sure you want me to be quiet.

Simple, movement and magic penetration, the best boots for Ryze.

Ryze is unique in all but except in the skill sequence, like most champs his R is the main skill you're going to want, then comes the q, the w and the e, there's not much to say about the skill sequence, just try to max your Q if you need burst, your W if you need utility or your E if you can't focus just one enemy.

Spells

The most useful spell of the game, easy escapes, easy ganks, easy to reach enemy and get the kill and if you're smart enough you can juke like a pro with this spell.

You always need to be sure you're going to kill the enemy, so Ignite is here to save the day, with his true damage and it's F you healings.

Fun to play champ

Funny skins (nothings funnier than trying to bribe the enemy with uncle ryze skin's dollar book)

The master of the counters of APC and ADC at the same time

Crazy damage

Really hard to farm withouth pushing the lane

May become useless if they focus you

Farming

Farming is just hard as always, you just need to play a lot to get comfortable with your champ's damage and when you get it, you're going to farm most of the minions.

In farming Ryze has a little benefit, with his low Cooldowns and he's need to fill the "Tear you can spam your spells to help you farming, it's not recomendable to use this at early phase, cause you can get easily ganking, you have a lot of pushing power and you must use it wisely.

Team Work

You just need to learn when to use your W and that's all you need to do to help your team, this depends on the enemy champs and your teammates, just try to watch not only your champ but also all the others.

In teamfights just press R and Focus the APC or ADC (first the most feed) and enjoy the lights. Don't worry when you're in CD, just auto-attack and blow their heads with like 500-800 damage thanks to your lovely .
