Not Updated For Current Season
Hi there my name is Eariocylla and this is my first Mobafire guide! Having played Tristana whilst leveling i followed several guides on how to gear up and skill up. I found that although the guides where extremely effective there was room for improvements and ideas i have thought of which could help players old and new to Tristana alike.
Pros & Cons
- Insane Late game damage.
- Very Good Farmer with Explosive Shot and Rocket Jump.
- Great Escape mechanism Rocket Jump, which allows you to jump over walls.
- Explosive Shot's de-buff acts just like Grievous Wound, reducing healing and health regeneration.
- One of the highest auto attack ranges late game.
- The ability to fire your enemys away from you or into your tower with Buster Shot.
- Very Squishy!
- Gear Dependent, Needs a lot of farming.
- Low Base Mana
- Incorrect Use of ultimate can cost you kills.
This Mastery tree is 24/6/0. In the offence tree I take all the talents to maximise Tristana's damage. The other 6 points are to increase her armor and magic resist for a little survivability.
- Summoner's Wrath - Took this for the improvement in stats whilst Ignite is on cooldown.
- Brute Force - Extra 3 Attack damage which is always welcome.
- Alacrity - More early attack speed.
- Weapon Expertise - 10% Armor Penetration, Nice Damage increase for just one point.
- Deadliness - Scaling Attack Damage per level. Extra 9 Attack Damage at level 18.
- Lethality - 10% Crit, Works well with Infinity Edge's Passive for a damage boost.
- Vampirism - This is for some sustain and health regen.
- Sunder - More armor penetration for damage.
- Executioner - 6% extra damage on targets below 40%, always take this.
- Resistance - 3 Points in here for some extra magic resist early on.
- Hardiness - Last three points for and extra 3 armor.
Another way to set-up your mastery is 21/9/0. This way you take 3 points from Vampirism from your offense tree and 2 From Resistance from your defence tree and put 4 into Durability and 1 into Veteran's Scars . This will give you some less life steal and magic resist in return for 36 extra HP plus an extra 6 per level.
Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Greater Seal of Armor
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
9 x Greater Mark of Attack Damage - 205 IP Each, 1845 IP in total.
9 x Greater Seal of Armor - 205 IP Each, 1845 IP in total.
9 x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist - 205 IP Each, 1845 in total.
Quintessence - These combined with AD marks and masterys will give you a high amount of early game attack damage which will be good for last hits and harassing your opponents.
Marks - More AD as Tristana the better, some feel its better to use Armour Penetration marks but I feel these plus the Doran's Blade early game gives you a strong harass which is key to controlling your lane.
Seals - Some extra armour on Tristana always helps, especially when facing another AD carry. More armour, the less the enemy's Attack Damage attacks will do to you.
Glyphs - Same as armor but Magic resist scaling with level. Some extra magic resist to reduce magic damage taken will always be helpful and scales nicely through the game, early game you shouldnt be taking much magic damage but then the glyphs scale nicely for late game.
I feel that although these are the best runes to use, there are a few alternatives that are viable.
Greater Quintessence of Desolation - These will work better mid to late game but with Tristana, early game domination is what we aim for.
Greater Mark of Desolation - More armor penetration, this will allow your attacks to bypass some of your opponents armor.
Other notes For those below level 20, i suggest you save your ip to buy tier 3 runes at level 20.
Restores 100-570 Health (depending on champion level) to your champion and 50% of that to nearby allies. 270 second cooldown." Great spell for when your getting used to Tristana. Make sure if you can not to use this whilst ignited (If your able to!) and also to try to be close to a friendly champion as they will benefit too!
Teleports your champion toward your cursor's location. 265 second cooldown. Great escape and gap closer spell. You can use this to flash through walls or away from champions when low! Great when used with Rocket Jump as you can clear two walls and make sure your not caught!
Your champion ignores unit collision and has 27% increased Movement Speed for 10 seconds. 210 second cooldown. Another good escape spell, not as good as flash but for some its easier to use then flash! We all know when we've failed our flash and got a Roundhouse kick from lee sin!
Draw a Bead (Passive) - Increases Tristana's attack range by 9 every time she levels. At level 18, Tristana has 153 bonus range on her autoattacks (703 total range). End game this gives Tristana one of the biggest auto attack ranges!
Rapid Fire - Q - Increases Tristana's attack speed by 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 / 90% for 7 seconds. One of the best Attack speed steroids in game, make sure when your going to use this that you can use it for its full duration!
Rocket Jump - Tristana fires at the ground to propel herself to target location, dealing 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+80% of ability power) magic damage and slowing surrounding units by 60% for 2.5 seconds when she lands. On a champion kill or assist, Rocket Jump's cooldown resets. - Great ability to close gaps on fleeing enemys and also good as a get away ability! You can use this to also jump over walls like Flash. Never use this to initiate team fights too! I learn the hard way!
Note!: You can be flipped by Singed and Volibearif timed corectly. So be careful!
Explosive Shot - Passive: Enemies explode when slain by Tristana's attacks, dealing 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+25% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies.
Active: Explosive Shot rends the target enemy, reducing healing and health regeneration by 50% and dealing 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 / 230 (+100% of ability power) magic damage over 5 seconds. This is an amazing spell for two reasons, the passive is a great way to help farm and harass enemys. The active is great for poking and also to reduce healing and lifesteal effects on enemys.
Buster Shot - Tristana fires a massive cannonball at an enemy unit. This deals 300 / 400 / 500 (+150% of ability power) magic damage and knocks surrounding units back 600 / 800 / 1000 distance. - This is can be used in two ways, mainly it will be used in your burst combo (Video Below) but you can also use it to fire your enemys away from you if you are at low health.
Draw A Bead.
Draw a Bead "Increases Tristana's attack range by 9 every time she levels. At level 18, Tristana has 153 bonus range on her autoattacks (703 total range).
Level 1:550 : Standard Ranged Champion.
Level 5:586 : Out ranges Ziggs, Varus and Zyra
Level 7:604 : Out ranges the likes of Ashe, Zillean and Anivia
Level 11:640 : Out Ranges Annie.
Level 13:658 : Out ranges Caitlyn.
Level 18:703 - Maximum range, Can attack Baron Nashor / Dragon behind walls.
The only two who out range Tristana is Kog Maw with Bio-Arcane Barrage(710) and Twitch's Spray and Pray (850).
I tend to max out my Explosive Shot first then to my Rapid Fire then Rocket Jump whilst always upgrading Buster Shot when available. Mid game with rapid fire maxed and some items you really are a high threat!
The Black Cleaver
Firstly I start with a Doran's Blade. The Extra attack power, health and 3% lifesteal make it a good item to start with. As soon as you can, recall to buy Boots of Speed to help with maneuverability.
Further into the game you should upgrade to Berserker's Greaves and then go for a B.F Sword and then build a Zeal. With that completed you then finish Infinity Edge and start my The Black Cleaver getting a Dagger first.
Late game you will want to upgrade your Zeal to a Phantom Dancer and then you can either build your The Bloodthirster or Banshee's Veil depending on whats needed first, then your can sell your Doran's Blade to help towards your last item!
Some items you may consider if the enemy's selection makes them appropriate.
Maw of Malmortius 3300g (+55 attack damage +36 magic resistance - Passive: Unique: Gain +1 attack damage for every 2.5% health missing. Unique: If you would take magic damage which would leave you at less than 30% of your maximum health, you first gain a shield which absorbs up to 400 magic damage for 5 seconds. 60 second cooldown.) - Most consider this a Melee item but this could be exchanged for your [The Black Cleaver] if you need more MR. Also the Unique is a very good bonus giving you extra attack damage for health lost.
Guardian Angel 2600g (+68 armor +38 magic resistance - Passive Unique: Revives your champion upon death, restoring 750 health and 375 mana. 5 minute cooldown.) - This is for more Magic Resist and armor, also the passive works like Zilean's Chronoshift
Madred's Bloodrazor 3800g ( 25 Armor, 40 Attack Damage, 40 Attack Speed. UNIQUE Passive: On hit, deals bonus Magic Damage equal to 4% of the target's maximum health, (max. 120 versus monsters) This is a great item all round, gives you Attack damage, attack speed, armor and also the passive makes it great for dealing extra damage to Tanks and those with high health!
Team Work & Fights
As with all AD carrys you will want to be at the back of the battlefield picking people off whilst your tank takes the enemys focus. Try to make sure your able to escape and not close to any enemy bruisers or carrys so your not targeted first!
* Keep at the back of team fights and pick people off from range.
* Use your explosive shot on enemy AD/AP carrys to help take them down faster or to Ensure the kill.
* Allow a few seconds in a group situation before using rapid fire so you know the full 7 seconds of power burst mode is all used! nothing worse then a fake engage and your best steroid being wasted!
* You can always use your Rocket jump to give yourself some space from the enemy in team fights and then move back in when you have lost focus from the enemy players.
Using Sight Ward & Vision Ward to give you a better control of your surroundings!
Yellow: Vital to protect the jungler on your team
Blue: For protection depending on which lane you're on
Red: To guard Dragon and Baron
Orange: In order to Counter-Jungle
These are some items that can great improve your performance and also your teams understanding of their surroundings.

Vision Ward - Price 125 : Click: Places an invisible ward with 1000 range Magical Sight (see invisible units). Lasts 3 minutes, Max: 5 Stacks.
