Pros / Cons
Short Cooldowns late game
Long cooldowns early game
Not enough mana
Team work is very important for Udyr
Udyr's Bear Stance is very useful in teamfights because of its stun and Movement speed increase you can go in stun their highest damage target and switch over to Tiger Stance and just do insane damage in a few seconds.
Also Udyr's Phoenix Stance stance is extremely useful if all of their team is low and retreating just Bear Stance in to get close and then use the AoE effects of Phoenix Stance to secure the kills of 1 or more of their crippled team.(I'm not saying go 100% pure man-mode I'm saying if you are confident in your abilities to clean up then enemy team then go for it.)
|Udyr's Turtle Stance is also completely effective if you go full tank and it is your job to absorb all the damage while still getting health back and doing damage then Turtle Stance is your favorite thing ever.|
Udyr's unique skills are he has no technical ultimate ability
In my opinion his ultimate is his Tiger Stance it allows him to just deal massive amounts of damage in a few seconds
Greater Mark of Scaling Attack Damage
Greater Seal of Scaling Armor
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
Greater Quintessence of Life Steal
Udyr's farming like everyone else's is vital, but for Udyr it keeps him in lane with his turtle stance constantly giving him his health back you need to farm effectively, but I can't give you tips on farming because I'm am terrible at farming.
Summoner Spell Choices
is used to secure kills early game and really nothing else
is used to catch up to enemies in Bear Stance if you don't have enough movement speed and also as an escape tool if you over extended and almost got caught out of position
is used to escape just like Ghost but for shorter distances and only to secure kills and get over walls to get a farther lead.
is used to like all the others to secure a kill or escape if you don't have enough movement speed initially with Bear Stance
The Bloodthirster This item is also great giving you up to 12% life steal( out of Turtle Stance) and at least 70 Attack Damage
Randuin's Omen This item is awesome on Udyr because of the Armor, Health, and its Active Effect all compliment Udyr's talents well.
Spirit Visage Again another great item for heavy damage and Ability power team comps, also with its passive effect you can easily heal up a lot of damage quick.
Trinity Force This item isn't the most useful on him but it does make his kit more together giving boosts almost every where (I'm not recommending this item, but you can use it.)
Mercury's Treads Ninja Tabi These are you usual boot choices depending on their team comp you decide which you need.
Thornmail This item is really only used against 100% Attack Damage team comps that focus on dealing all the damage they can to your team having no tanks at all.
Guardian Angel This item is awesome on Udyr because of the revive when you die and the 50 Armor, and 40 Magic Resist
Ravenous Hydra This item is great for the Health Regeneration, Damage, Active Effect, life steal, but i only really use it when I need fast wave clear and I'm split pushing.
Banshee's Veil This item works well when you have to initiate because its passive allows you to absorb 1 ability damage free and I believe it refreshes ever 25 seconds without you being attacked.
Frozen Mallet This item is pretty awesome on Udyr, I mean it synergizes well with your tiger stance allowing you to maximize your damage output with its slow effect and it gives you quite a bit of health to get tanky late game.
Muramana This item will come to you sometime mid, or late game depending on how you spam your abilities, but if you didn't know this item is made when you get full mana stacks from the manamune, I think you should only build this item if and only if you believe that Udyr is very mana hungry
All in all just choose the items that fit your playstyle the most Gl Hf
What some people think about Udyr
People believe that can only be played as a 100% tank, but you won't experience his true potential if he is only a tank, yes he can be played like that, but you won't really do much damage which Udyr is really good at.
After that I mainly go for a Randuin's Omen for its slow active and the health and 70 armor making me slightly more tanky for their Adc, soon after I go for a damage item mainly a Ravenous Hydra or a Frozen Mallet, The Ravenous Hydra is for way more damage and everything it has to offer, The Frozen Mallet is for its slowing ability and the health and little Attack Damage it gives, After that I particularly go for a Magic Resist item like a Spirit Visage or a Banshee's Veil something along those lines (it usually is the Spirit Visage because I think it is better than the Banshee's Veil), the last item is situational like if their team is heavy Ability Power, then I get a Maw of Malmortius or if they are heavy Attack Damage then I get an Atma's Impaler because it gives armor crit chance and Attack Damage according to how much health you have.
Now this is for the 100% tank Udyr's out there you will take either Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads depending on their team like usual, you will still take the Wit's End because the Magic resist and it will still allow you to do tons of damage, then depending on their team again you will most likely grab a Sunfire Cape or a Spirit Visage or a Randuin's Omen or a Banshee's Veil all are good choices depending on their team, after grabbing one of those items you will start probably want to get more health to stay in fights longer so you will try to get a Warmog's Armor because hello the passive on it and the health it provides, after the extra 1000 health if you grabbed it you will most likely get another of the 4 previous items I put above Warmog's Armor because you don't have all 4 yet and it also again depends on their team, Now you are at 4 items probably if you want more damage but still some Magic Resist and or Armor depending on their team you will grab a Mercurial Scimitar or a Maw of Malmortius or for Armor you will grab a Atma's Impaler those are your damage choices and only 1 item is left you decide out of all the items you can possibly build now and choose what fits you best.
Ok now this is for anyone who plays damage Udyr and has Mana issues you get and early Tear of the Goddess for that stacking mana and then build it into a Manamune so you get some Attack damage from this item, then you will most likely grab a tank item if you are still going half tank, half damage you will most likely grab a tanky item of your choosing like a Randuin's Omen or a Spirit Visage or another tanky item, next you will probably want damage wave clear and the ability to survive so if you haven't caught on yet what this item is you can grab a Ravenous Hydra or a Wit's End because you can clear waves with Attack speed also, if you grabbed the Wit's End next you will probably want another tank item so I'm gonna list a few like Sunfire Cape , Spirit Visage , Banshee's Veil , Locket of the Iron Solari , etc. Now you should have a Muramana which will give you more Attack Damage and Mana so now your mana hungriness is gone, now after getting a tank item you will probably want damage so I suggest getting any of these items, a The Bloodthirster , Maw of Malmortius , Mercurial Scimitar , Atma's Impaler , or anything that tickles your fancy.
