Introduction

Hi there my name is Eariocylla and this is my first Mobafire guide! Having played Tristana whilst leveling i followed several guides on how to gear up and skill up. I found that although the guides where extremely effective there was room for improvements and ideas i have thought of which could help players old and new to Tristana alike.

Pros & Cons


Pros

  • Insane Late game damage.
  • Very Good Farmer with Explosive Shot and Rocket Jump.
  • Great Escape mechanism Rocket Jump, which allows you to jump over walls.
  • Explosive Shot's de-buff acts just like Grievous Wound, reducing healing and health regeneration.
  • One of the highest auto attack ranges late game.
  • The ability to fire your enemys away from you or into your tower with Buster Shot.

Cons
  • Very Squishy!
  • Gear Dependent, Needs a lot of farming.
  • Low Base Mana
  • Incorrect Use of ultimate can cost you kills.

3 x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage - 1025 IP Each, 3075 IP in total.
9 x Greater Mark of Attack Damage - 205 IP Each, 1845 IP in total.
9 x Greater Seal of Armor - 205 IP Each, 1845 IP in total.
9 x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist - 205 IP Each, 1845 in total.
IP = Influence Points


Quintessence - These combined with AD marks and masterys will give you a high amount of early game attack damage which will be good for last hits and harassing your opponents.


Marks - More AD as Tristana the better, some feel its better to use Armour Penetration marks but I feel these plus the Doran's Blade early game gives you a strong harass which is key to controlling your lane.

Seals - Some extra armour on Tristana always helps, especially when facing another AD carry. More armour, the less the enemy's Attack Damage attacks will do to you.


Glyphs - Same as armor but Magic resist scaling with level. Some extra magic resist to reduce magic damage taken will always be helpful and scales nicely through the game, early game you shouldnt be taking much magic damage but then the glyphs scale nicely for late game.



Other Options

I feel that although these are the best runes to use, there are a few alternatives that are viable.

Greater Quintessence of Desolation - These will work better mid to late game but with Tristana, early game domination is what we aim for.

Greater Mark of Desolation - More armor penetration, this will allow your attacks to bypass some of your opponents armor.

Other notes For those below level 20, i suggest you save your ip to buy tier 3 runes at level 20.

Summoner Spells

Ideal

Ignite
"Ignites target enemy unit, dealing 70-410 true damage (depending on champion level) over 5 seconds and reduces healing effects on the target for the duration. 180 second cooldown." - Great for finishing off an opponent when they are low but also helps when facing an enemy like Warwick to reduce his self healing or even healing from suports and potions.

Heal
"Restores 100-570 Health (depending on champion level) to your champion and 50% of that to nearby allies. 270 second cooldown." Great spell for when your getting used to Tristana. Make sure if you can not to use this whilst ignited (If your able to!) and also to try to be close to a friendly champion as they will benefit too!

Flash
Teleports your champion toward your cursor's location. 265 second cooldown. Great escape and gap closer spell. You can use this to flash through walls or away from champions when low! Great when used with Rocket Jump as you can clear two walls and make sure your not caught!

Ghost
Your champion ignores unit collision and has 27% increased Movement Speed for 10 seconds. 210 second cooldown. Another good escape spell, not as good as flash but for some its easier to use then flash! We all know when we've failed our flash and got a Roundhouse kick from lee sin!

Ability Explanation

Draw a Bead (Passive) - Increases Tristana's attack range by 9 every time she levels. At level 18, Tristana has 153 bonus range on her autoattacks (703 total range). End game this gives Tristana one of the biggest auto attack ranges!

Rapid Fire - Q - Increases Tristana's attack speed by 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 / 90% for 7 seconds. One of the best Attack speed steroids in game, make sure when your going to use this that you can use it for its full duration!

Rocket Jump - Tristana fires at the ground to propel herself to target location, dealing 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+80% of ability power) magic damage and slowing surrounding units by 60% for 2.5 seconds when she lands. On a champion kill or assist, Rocket Jump's cooldown resets. - Great ability to close gaps on fleeing enemys and also good as a get away ability! You can use this to also jump over walls like Flash. Never use this to initiate team fights too! I learn the hard way!

Note!: You can be flipped by Singed and Volibearif timed corectly. So be careful!


Explosive Shot - Passive: Enemies explode when slain by Tristana's attacks, dealing 50 / 75 / 100 / 125 / 150 (+25% of ability power) magic damage to nearby enemies.

Active: Explosive Shot rends the target enemy, reducing healing and health regeneration by 50% and dealing 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 / 230 (+100% of ability power) magic damage over 5 seconds. This is an amazing spell for two reasons, the passive is a great way to help farm and harass enemys. The active is great for poking and also to reduce healing and lifesteal effects on enemys.


Buster Shot - Tristana fires a massive cannonball at an enemy unit. This deals 300 / 400 / 500 (+150% of ability power) magic damage and knocks surrounding units back 600 / 800 / 1000 distance. - This is can be used in two ways, mainly it will be used in your burst combo (Video Below) but you can also use it to fire your enemys away from you if you are at low health.

Draw a Bead "Increases Tristana's attack range by 9 every time she levels. At level 18, Tristana has 153 bonus range on her autoattacks (703 total range).

Level 1:550 : Standard Ranged Champion.
Level 3:568
Level 5:586 : Out ranges Ziggs, Varus and Zyra
Level 7:604 : Out ranges the likes of Ashe, Zillean and Anivia
Level 9:622
Level 11:640 : Out Ranges Annie.
Level 13:658 : Out ranges Caitlyn.
Level 15:676
Level 17:684
Level 18:703 - Maximum range, Can attack Baron Nashor / Dragon behind walls.


The only two who out range Tristana is Kog Maw with Bio-Arcane Barrage(710) and Twitch's Spray and Pray (850).

I tend to max out my Explosive Shot first then to my Rapid Fire then Rocket Jump whilst always upgrading Buster Shot when available. Mid game with rapid fire maxed and some items you really are a high threat!

Items

Item Sequence

Firstly I start with a Doran's Blade. The Extra attack power, health and 3% lifesteal make it a good item to start with. As soon as you can, recall to buy Boots to help with maneuverability.

Further into the game you should upgrade to Berserker's Greaves and then go for a B.F Sword and then build a Zeal. With that completed you then finish Infinity Edge and start my Black Cleaver getting a Dagger first.

Late game you will want to upgrade your Zeal to a Phantom Dancer and then you can either build your Bloodthirster or Banshee's Veil depending on whats needed first, then your can sell your Doran's Blade to help towards your last item!

Situational Items

Some items you may consider if the enemy's selection makes them appropriate.

Mercury's Treads 1200g (+25 magic resistance +35 tenacity) - If your needing more Magic Resist Late game you can sacrifice some attack speed for these.
Maw of Malmortius 3300g (+55 attack damage +36 magic resistance - Passive: Unique: Gain +1 attack damage for every 2.5% health missing. Unique: If you would take magic damage which would leave you at less than 30% of your maximum health, you first gain a shield which absorbs up to 400 magic damage for 5 seconds. 60 second cooldown.) - Most consider this a Melee item but this could be exchanged for your [The Black Cleaver] if you need more MR. Also the Unique is a very good bonus giving you extra attack damage for health lost.
Guardian Angel 2600g (+68 armor +38 magic resistance - Passive Unique: Revives your champion upon death, restoring 750 health and 375 mana. 5 minute cooldown.) - This is for more Magic Resist and armor, also the passive works like Zilean's Chronoshift
Madred's Bloodrazor 3800g ( 25 Armor, 40 Attack Damage, 40 Attack Speed. UNIQUE Passive: On hit, deals bonus Magic Damage equal to 4% of the target's maximum health, (max. 120 versus monsters) This is a great item all round, gives you Attack damage, attack speed, armor and also the passive makes it great for dealing extra damage to Tanks and those with high health!

Team Work & Fights

As with all AD carrys you will want to be at the back of the battlefield picking people off whilst your tank takes the enemys focus. Try to make sure your able to escape and not close to any enemy bruisers or carrys so your not targeted first!

Tips
    * Keep at the back of team fights and pick people off from range.
    * Use your explosive shot on enemy AD/AP carrys to help take them down faster or to Ensure the kill.
    * Allow a few seconds in a group situation before using rapid fire so you know the full 7 seconds of power burst mode is all used! nothing worse then a fake engage and your best steroid being wasted!
    * You can always use your Rocket jump to give yourself some space from the enemy in team fights and then move back in when you have lost focus from the enemy players.

Yellow: Vital to protect the jungler on your team
Blue: For protection depending on which lane you're on

Consumables

These are some items that can great improve your performance and also your teams understanding of their surroundings.

Wards

Sight Ward - Price 75 Sight Ward: Click: Places an invisible ward with 1100 range. Lasts 3 minutes, Max: 5 Stacks.

Vision Ward - Price 125 : Click: Places an invisible ward with 1000 range Magical Sight (see invisible units). Lasts 3 minutes, Max: 5 Stacks.

Elixirs
Elixir of Agility - Price 250 : Grants 12-22% Attack Speed, based on champion level, and 8% Critical Chance for 4 minutes. Stacks 3 per item slot.

Elixir of Fortitude - Price 250 : Click: Grants 140-235 Health (based on champion level) and 10 Attack Damage for 4 minutes. Stacks 3 per item slot.

Elixir of Brilliance - Price 250 : Click: Grants 140-235 Health (based on champion level) and 10 Attack Damage for 4 minutes. Stacks 3 per item slot.

Oracle's Elixir - Price 400 : Click: Grants 750 radius stealth detection to champion until death. Stacks 1 per item slot.
