Opener

Okay, okay, first guide so be lenient.
-First off: No. I am not too credible a resource and have not clocked an amazingly large amount of games with our recently buffed champion - Yorick - but I have done in my bit of fair time and research.

-Second: The sole reason I am making this build is because I've been using this site for so many long and have yet to do much on it - to the point, I am itching to write. And seeing that Yorick is still fairly new, I am hoping I am still not too late for the one stage of idea-tossing that goes on when new champions are released and joke guides are made. Also I like Yorick - he fun to play.

Pros / Cons

Going off what I know -
PROS:
[*] Fun to watch ppl run from your minions in solo lane
[*] Haz gud burst
[*] Tanky
[*] Fun ult
[*] Versitile - deals magic dmg in spells and physical dmg in atks
[*] Decent base stats - one of those characters that get Magic Resist/lvl instead of staying at 30 mr.
[*] Haz decent lane sustainability

CONS:
[*] Not too much utility - standard offtank role of focusing carries
[*] Ult is just gimmicky - can either completely change a team fight or do nothing at all.
[*] Ghouls don't last long enough for his passive to become noticeable

Skill Sequence

In terms of priority -
[*] Omen of Pestilence first, for lvl1 team fights
[*] Then a focus on his main harassing/sustain skill Omen of Famine
[*] Next his gap-closer Omen of Pestilence
[*] And lastly, Omen of War
[*] His ult Omen of Death whenever possible too

I find this workable because he has a decent harassing tool early game, and a gap-closer to he can get close to deal dmg with his Omen of War if he needs additional burst. It keeps him in lane as I find him quite item dependent - thus in need of farm.

I don't like to rush q because then his main source of damage requires him to get very much within harassing range of enemy fire, he'll lack his gap-closing Omen of Pestilence to do it and have less sustainability to stay in lane w/o his Omen of Famine. Of course this kind of kills his q ability if you prioritize it last as without proper scaling, late game q doesn't offer too much. (Riot this is your cue of buff this. Please and thank you.)

Runes

Greater Seal of Armor and Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist for offtank purposes, find these really useful. Neglecting mana regen because I already have 21 on utility in masteries and is getting a catalyst the protector.

WHY WE DON'T GET ARMOR PENETRATION: Yorick's main harassing skills in lane are Omen of Pestilence and Omen of Famine both deal magic damage not physical damage. Armor penetration runes will only benefit one skill, your Omen of War while Flat AD will benefit all three.

Masteries

Like I said earlier - 9/0/21 with Magic Penetration for your main harassing skills which deal magic dmg.

Utility for some good movement speed, cds, and much needed regen. 'Nuff said.

Summoner Spells

Exhaust and Ghost for mobility and for his lack of hard cc.

Ignite or Flash works too, Flash being more escape friendly (but you're the offtank you're suppose to come out decently without it anyway), Ghost I find more useful for chasing because it gives a more consistent mobility. Ignite is good mainly because Yorick haz burst, but it's a little lacking sometimes.

Items

Standard Doran's Blade or Boots and 3 Health Potions or a Sapphire Crystal and two Health Potions

On the second trip back, we get what our runes and masteries didn't give us. Health and a larger mana pool. Catalyst the Protector, mainly so be able to sustain yourself in lane. This little rock gives you enough mana for three free spells on each lvl and will keep your farming for quite a bit.

Next Mercury's Treads and we start building an Atma's Impaler which gives you a nice piece of armor and converts your catalyst the protector into damage.

Afterwards a Spirit Visage for increased healing ability, more health your your Atma's Impaler and improved mana regen.

Frozen Mallet rush - again to cover your weak cc add a bit of damage, and more health your your Atma's Impaler

Thanks to the boost in regen from your Spirit Visage you can now make your Catalyst the Protector into a Banshee's Vial

For your last item, if you're still not tanky enough
Force of Nature vs. hardcore AP
Randuin's Omen vs. AD + small health bonus for your Atma's Impaler
Thornmail vs. hardcore AD
Guardian Angel for general tankiness

If you require dmg I'd get a Madred's Bloodrazor or a Black Cleaver for lack of atkspd or and Infinity Edge to stack the crit chance on your Atma's Impaler and if you really want: Trinity Force but here's my reasons for...

WHY NOT TRINITY FORCE:
[*] 4k item - expensive item that leaves Yorick with less money for tankiness
[*] GIVES AP AOFNIADGNAOMCAIFN OCD IT DOESN'T FITTTT ASDUBAADFNIN
[*] Bonus damage of his Omen of War doesn't scale to his AD or goes too high, unlike Nasus's q or Irelia's q in other words will still die out late game.
