Is it even viable? I see so many guides using it, but my thinking is that with only 100 armor, that 4% magic damage becomes 2% magic damage. Yes, it gives AD, AS, and armor, but 3800 is way too expensive for those stats.
I'd like if you took a look at my guide here...

Because it does magic damage, MR reduces it's effectiveness.
However, that doesn't keep it from being a bad item even though the proc damage is real, real low. We're going to look at an average carry with about 2K health end game. You're doing a total of 80 damage before MR. This is really low. It's only a good item on people like Kog, Caitlyn or Vayne who scale decently with attack speed. It doesn't give a ton of AD though so, you will always be doing a bit less damage than a full AD oriented carry.

It's still good for
 Warwick if you get to lategame or you're really fed. I dunno who else I'd build it on though.

It's generally really good against anything with health. More if you are having a serious problem with
 Cho'Gath,  Dr. Mundo,  Volibear, or  Shen that like to stack health.I think it works much better on champions that have their own AD buff (steroid) to make up for the mere 40 damage Madred's has. Personal habitual activites? Utilizing gargantuan idioms to fabricate intelligence.

It's only good on Warwick because he can deal 20% of the enemy's health due to
 Infinite Duress striking 5 times. He then can deal 18% more of that health with  Hungering Strike. All before Magic Resist.However, most champions have natural magic resist, or buy magic resist, so Madred's is easily countered. I wouldn't get it on anyone but Warwick, and even then, I don't get it on Warwick. It's too expensive. Kitae's Bloodrazor, however, is a far better item for it's cost.

its still okay, just not the best item IMO. think it's a bit overpriced too. good for specific champs, but not commonly used now as people do stack some MR.

Its pretty viable on
Warwick. But I wouldn't buy this item unless enemy team is full of high HP targets.
