Lore

In the time shortly before the League, there were those within the sinister city-state of Noxus who did not agree with the evils perpetrated by the Noxian High Command. The High Command had just put down a coup attempt from the self-proclaimed Crown Prince Raschallion, and a crack down on any form of dissent against the new government was underway. These political and social outcasts, known as the Grey Order, sought to leave their neighbors in peace as they pursued dark arcane knowledge. The leaders of this outcast society were a married couple: Gregori Hastur, the Grey Warlock, and his wife Amoline, the Shadow Witch. Together they led an exodus of magicians and other intelligentsia from Noxus, resettling their followers beyond the Great Barrier to the northern reaches of the unforgiving Voodoo Lands. Though survival was a challenge at times, the Grey Order's colony managed to thrive in a land where so many others would have failed.
Years after the exodus, Gregori and Amoline had a child: Annie. Early on, Annie's parents knew there was something special about their daughter. At the age of two, Annie miraculously ensorcelled a shadow bear - a ferocious denizen of the petrified forests outside the colony - turning it into her pet. To this day she keeps her bear Tibbers by her side, often keeping him spellbound as a stuffed doll to be carried like a child's toy. The combination of Annie's lineage and the dark magic of her birthplace have given this little girl tremendous arcane power. It is this same girl who now finds herself as one of the most sought-after champions within the League of Legends - even by the city-state who would have exiled her parents had they not fled beforehand.
Annie may be one of the most powerful champions ever to have fought in a Field of Justice. I shudder to think of her capabilities when she becomes an adult."
― High Councilor Kiersta Mandrake.

Quotes

Annie joke may be based on Ralph Wiggum and his nonsensical manner of speech from The Simpsons.
Annie new taunt, "I'm Rubber and you're.. on fire!" is based on the first line of the popular children's rhyme I'm Rubber, You're glue.
Annie quote, "Eeny, meeny, miny, burn!" is a reference to the children's counting rhyme, "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe". In latinoamerican servers this phrase was changed to "¿Onta bebé?, aquí está. Fuego" ("Where's the baby? There he is. Fire"), where part of that phrase corresponds to the dialog of Diego of the film Ice Age 1 to patch 3.10, where again was changed to phrase "De tin marín de do, te quemé" ("De tin marín de do, I burned you"), reference to the children's counting rhyme "De tin marín de do pingüe..."
Annie quote, "Ashes, ashes, they all fall down," is a reference to the American version of the nursery rhyme, Ring a Ring o' Roses. In latinoamerican servers this phrase is changed since patch 3.10 to "Sol, solecito, quémense un poquito" ("Sun, sun, burn you a little bit"), where part of that phrase corresponds to a children's song
Annie shares a quote with Ezreal, Thresh, Irelia, and Evelynn; "This way."

Skins

Goth Annie skin is one of the four Collector's Edition skins, along with the complementary skins of Black Alistar , Silver Kayle , and Human Ryze. The skin could be obtained by buying the Digital Copy in the Store.
• The skin was to be sold outside the bundle on the 1st of February to the 10th of February as a celebration of a very positive remake and the fact the Collector's Edition bundle was outdated, this sale was denied and is the first sale of a skin to ever be denied.
Goth Annie rework appears to have been based on the Chinese Artwork.
Red Riding Annie skin is a reference to a famous fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood.
Annie in Wonderland skin is a reference to Alice in Wonderland, with Annie dressed as the titular Alice and Summon: Tibbers taking the place of the White Rabbit.
Annie in Wonderland was a response to player requests to change Summon: Tibbers skin. It is classified as a Legendary Skin.
• As of Annie Visual Upgrade in January 2013, all of Annie's skins feature unique Tibbers' skin.
• Annie has four skins which are paired with another champion's skin:
- Red Riding Annie & Big Bad Warwick

Countering

- All of Annie spells deal magic damage, therefore any form of magic resistance will mitigate her damage significantly.
- Banshee's Veil offers a spell shield to negate 1 spell from Annie. Its magic resistance and health will help tremendously in surviving Annie burst, while possibly blocking Annie initiation.
- Quicksilver Sash is a cheaper alternative that allows you to cleanse her stun specifically instead of just one ability; however, it does not prevent the damage.
- Do not underestimate the damaging aura from Annie Summon: Tibbers. The longer the fight lasts, the more damage you will take from it.
- Avoid focusing her Summon: Tibbers when attacking Annie. Summon: Tibbers has a lot of health and damage, and killing Annie kills Summon: Tibbers as well. Focusing Summon: Tibbers allows Annie to finish you off with her spells if she is ignored.
- Do not disregard Summon: Tibbers completely, however. Its attack damage and damaging aura can easily put a tense fight against Annie in her favor if left to attack you.
- Alternatively, use ranged attacks and abilities to kill Summon: Tibbers while keeping out of range of Annie spells, the advantage to this being that Summon: Tibbers will most likely be easier to kill.
- Summon: Tibbers is considered a minion therefore Smite and champion abilities that work on minions and monsters only (such as Syndra Force of Will, Nunu & Willump Consume), will work on him as well.
- At lower levels, a Cho'Gath that uses Smite and Feast can kill Summon: Tibbers immediately, and gain a stack of health.
- Be alert for the visual effect that appears when the stun from Pyromania is ready.
- Because Disintegrate refunds mana when used to last hit minions, be cautious around an Annie using autoattacks on minions. She is likely to have 3 stacks on Pyromania and is waiting for someone to engage her. She will cast Molten Shield, allowing her to stun on her next spell.
- Molten Shield acts similarly to Thornmail. Be careful when engaging her if you are using a champion that relies on auto-attacks.
- It can sometimes be hard to see the visual effect of Pyromania if she has her Molten Shield up.

Build usage

- Disintegrate can quickly build up mana in items like Tear of the Goddess or Archangel's Staff.
- Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a great item for Annie, as the health and area of effect slow allows Tibbers' AoE damage aura to constantly apply the slow debuff, making Tibbers excellent for chasing and kiting.
- Combined with this, Liandry's Torment can help in extended fights as Summon: Tibbers aura does proc the health burn.
- Sorcerer's Shoes - Captain enchantment and Rylai's Crystal Scepter can be used to make Summon: Tibbers very difficult to escape (Tibbers movespeed will be 420).
- Rabadon's Deathcap works well for Annie in particular because of her high ratios.
- Abyssal Mask is a good option for Annie when the enemy team has lots of magic damage. It provides magic resistance, but still contributes to her burst potential with AP and a magic resistance reduction aura and since none of her abilities exceed the 700 range, she can capitalize the aura to its full potential.
- Deathfire Grasp can be an excellent choice for Annie given her potential to kill targets in a single rotation. The 20% increased Magic Damage from the "Doom" debuff can help Summon: Tibbers aura and benefit other teammates that deal primarily Magic Damage. The cooldown reduction is a nice bonus as well.
- As Annie ranges are very short compared to other mages, Mobility Boots can be an excellent choice for roaming to other lanes or closing the distance on key targets.
- Rod of Ages can be a good choice in giving Annie a bit of extra durability to accommodate her abilities forcing her to be relatively close.
- Aether Wisp and its build paths, Lich Bane and Twin Shadows can be viable options for providing a slight increase in mobility and an extra burst on autos or chasing potential respectively.
- Sorcerer's Shoes - Distortion can supplement the Flash and Summon: Tibbers initiation combo that Annie is feared for by decreasing the cooldown on the spell and providing a small boost in mobility.

Skill usage

- Annie strength as a mage comes from her decent laning phase from Disintegrate allowing her to farm without mana problems, and her exceptional AoE damage potential from Incinerate and Summon: Tibbers. Her Pyromania allows her to lock up multiple targets in an area for a decent duration with her Molten Shield giving her a convenient way to charge it and a slight defensive boost.
- During the laning phase, try to find a good balance between storing your stun for use and continuing to use your spells to maintain a strong farming game.
- A good tactic at the start of a game is to use Incinerate 4 times to get a stun ready before you leave the fountain. This can help turn the tide of an enemy invade or supplement a team one to get you first blood.
- Sometimes it is smarter to approach an enemy with 3 Pyromania charges instead of 4 to appear vulnerable. You can then quickly charge the stun with Molten Shield. It can also allow you to break Banshee's Veil with a weaker spell before using a spell (especially Summon: Tibbers) that stuns them.
- This can also be an effective strategy to lure enemies into a false sense of security.
- During the laning phase, use Disintegrate to last hit minions since it refunds its mana cost and halves its cooldown when it kills a unit. Use this to quickly stack Pyromania.
- Disintegrate can be used once Pyromania is available to lock down a single target, as it is a targeted ability, saving more powerful abilities for follow up.
- It is often better to use Incinerate to stun as it is slightly faster compared to Disintegrate which has a projectile. On the other hand, it can be easier to miss if you misjudge the range.
- While Incinerate can take down groups of low health minions early game, positioning the cone so that it also routinely damages the enemy champion can be very useful. Dropping their health like this can be followed up with a big Summon: Tibbers + Pyromania burst for the kill.
- Don't rely on Molten Shield to keep you alive. Its damage isn't great for countering AD carries with life steal, and early game its defensive properties are minimal at best. It is mainly used to charge up a stun.
- When you have 3 Pyromania charges you can cast Molten Shield while Disintegrate is in mid-flight to prime the stun and land it when your Q hits.
- Annie Summon: Tibbers can be controlled, like most pet units, by holding Alt or activating the ability again before moving.
- Summon: Tibbers or Incinerate used in combination with Pyromania results in Annie having an AoE stun effect.
- Incinerate can be used as an AoE stun in replacement of Summon: Tibbers, guaranteeing Tibbers to land and damage all the intended targets.
