Introduction

Welcome to my Galio build! This build is focused on making a high tank and ability powered mage. The problem I run into with most mid laners is that they all feel squishy. I really enjoy Galio, because not only can I build tanky, but also get more ability power then a normal mage due to Galio's passive, which converts 50% magic resist into ability power.

One of the reasons I don't build Galio with health is only because his sustain is most effective if you reduce the damage, in contrast to just increasing your health. This will make Galio an overall MORE tanky character, without even building health.

NOTE: If you look at the champion stats above, it will calculate to 380 AP. Note that this does NOT include his passive, which would bring it up to around 500 AP. His W will also give him an additional 45 AP, (+more including the rabadons.) Just keep in mind that the statistics shown do not represent your actual AP potential.

Pros / Cons

Pros

*Can stack huge amounts of AP with his passive.
*Not squishy.
*Counters most other mages.
*Tons of CC
*High Sustain
*Game changing ultimate.

Cons
*Countered by CC. (Charms, stuns, knockups, etc.)
*Bad against AD mid laners.
*Taunting an ADC can be fatal.

Laning

So, when you start of the game, you can easily keep other champions back due to your Q, which won't be interfered by minions. When you get your W, use it either before you get attacked, or if you want to get an AP boost for your Q. You can easily take out the back row of minions with your Q-E combo at level 5, and then just keep last hitting. Galio also is a really good ganker with his CC, so if you can, gank top or bot lane when you get your ultimate.

Also, when preparing to go all-in for a kill, it's best to ult the enemy champion with enemy minions around, because the basic attacks from the minions will increase your ultimate's damage.

Unique Skills

Galio's W can give him health. And I mean, a lot of health. Giving more health with the ability power you have, and magic resist/armor, you can take almost no damage from enemy attacks while healing yourself, and even giving you an ability power boost. With the spirit visage, which increases self healing, Galio can tank a turret pretty easily, and even get health from the first two or three turret shots.
