Pros / Cons

Pros
-No mana costs
-Mobile, perfect for roaming
-Ability resets means that an assist or kill leads to less downtime on your ultimate, giving more opportunity to gank other lanes
-High AP scaling on her skills

Cons
-Squishy
-Early slow jungle clears (needs a good leash)
-Vulnerable to counter jungling
-Weak pre-6
-CC shuts her down

Runes

Flat Armor Seals are taken for reduced damage early game from neutral monsters, AP quints for AP, standard MP marks, and scaling AP glyphs.

Masteries

21 offensive 9 utility, the utility is taken over defense for the movement speed mastery and increased buff duration.

Jungling

Jungling with Katarina requires a good early leash at either the blue or red buff camp, as Katarina does not do very well with early clears. After the buff is taken, go for either the wolves or wraith camp as Smite is on cooldown then take your other buff. Trying to gank lanes is a possibility at level 3, however, it is generally better to wait until you hit level 6 for your ultimate, as that brings out a lot of damage.
