Intro

Hello, and welcome to my Udyr build guide. This is effective as of the Ziggs patch.

Udyr is one of my favorite junglers, He's always been very strong in the jungle, and come on... Nobody want's to fight a 50 minute Udyr.

Skill Set

So, we have our champion icon=Udyr size=64 and now his skills.

*Note*
Persistent Effect means when your in the stance. It's important to know that THIS IS NOT A PASSIVE. So, if you're running around in turtle, you wont be able to crit as long as you stay in turtle. But if you switch to bear, you are able to crit again. When I'm roaming, I usually tend to stay in bear.
*/note*

Monkey's Agility (Passive)

Entering a stance grants Udyr 10% attack speed for 5 seconds. This effect stacks 3 times.

So your passive pretty much says when ever you switch stances, you get some attack speed. This is useful for taking out turrets, inhibitors, nexuses...etc etc.

Q - Tiger Stance

Active: On his next attack Udyr swipes at his target dealing normal attack and dealing 150% of his attack damage (+30/80/130/180/230) extra damage over 2 seconds as magic damage. In addition, your attack speed is increased by an additional 15/20/25/30/35% for 5 seconds.

Persistent Effect: Udyr's attack speed is increased by 20/25/30/35/40%

So when you switch to Q, you get bonus damage, increased attack speed, and a dot. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes. Your Q makes the jungle go by very fast, but I'll get into that later in the jungling section.

W - Turtle Stance

Active: Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs (60/100/140/180/220 +50% of ability power) damage.

Persistent Effect: Udyr's attack cannot crit, but he restores 10/12/14/16/18% of his damage as health and 5/6/7/8/9% of his damage as mana.

So when you switch to W, you get a nice shield ( Karthus huehue), bonus health regen, and bonus mana regen based on auto attacks. This is great for the jungle, and it allows you to feed your blue to your mid lane often.

R - Bear Stance

Active: Udyr gains 15/18/21/24/27% increased movement speed for 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds.

Persistent Effect: Udyr mauls his target with such force that they are stunned for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for six seconds.

So, you've got a mini ghost, and a stun. This is by far my favorite stance. You will use this stance for ganking, escaping, saving carries.. just about everything imaginable. This is the stance you'll want to roam around in as well. The speed boost also helps with fast jungling. Switch to it when going from creep to creep, but don't forget to switch to turtle so you can get your mana back! Plus, who doesn't love the sound of a bear roaring?

R - Phoenix Stance

Active: Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing 15/25/35/45/55 +25% of ability power magic damage each second to nearby enemies for 5 seconds. In addition, Udyr's ability power is increased by 16/24/32/40/48 and his attack damage is increased by half that amount.

Persistent Effect: Every third attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame, dealing 40/80/120/160/200 (+25% of ability power) magic damage

This is your jungling spell. It's an AoE, that does nice damage, and makes you life easier.
Plus, the bonus damage every three hits is just plain awesome.

Item Build

Items

The items I chose give you a bit of damage, and they make you tanky as all hell. Nobody. Repeat, NOBODY likes a 50 minute udyr. You take no damage, you do **** tons of damage, you come back to life, you perma-slow the enemy if they decide to fight you back, and when they run, you have ANOTHER slow to keep them down!

First Buy:

Regrowth Pendent and a Health Pot will keep you up for a good while, and you turn the Pendant into a [item=Philosopher's Stone size=32] Philosopher's Stone.

Second Buy:
Philosopher's Stone

So now, we've got two gp10s, [regrowth pendant] and [heart of gold] and some speed ones. The passive gold gain helps for all junglers and regular solo-toppers as well.

Third Buy:

Speed 2s, life steal and Attack speed. Great with your Q, and builds into your next item, the Wit's End. And the life steal is pro for sustain..right ;D

Fourth Buy:

The Wit's end makes you tanky and damagy! You get Magic Resistance, plus magres/hit, and increased attack speed.

After that, Just base when you can.

Your next few items are:

Warden's Mail - You get armor, health Regen, and you have a chance to slow enemies when they hit you. Turn that into a...

75 Armor, 350 Health, 25 Health Regen.
Passive: 5% cdr - 20% chance to slow attackers move and attack speeds by 35% for 2 + .5 seconds for each 100 Armor and Magic Resistance.
Slows, Regen, Armor, Health.....Hello Tanky!

Gives you extra beef for your shield, more damage with Q and double damage when you switch stances.

Usually, You wont This far into your build. The enemy team will have surrendered or you will have won. But in case you do, after your sheen build a

Trinity force, It's a boss, Damage health, move speed..Everything you need to be successful.

If somehow you do die, you'll come right back to life!

ALTERNATE ITEMS

Sometimes, other items are better. You can try...

Better for chasing, but you sacrifice utility for speed.

Force of Nature, Great magic resistance, health regen...and some more speed.

Warmogs, this paired with an Atma's Impaler give you beef and damage.

Frozen Mallet, A permaslow, paired with an Atma's Impaler gives you beef and damage.

Atma's. Great item if you have a lot of health, i.e. a Frozen Mallet or a Warmog's Armor

mageres, health, mana and a spell shield. nice item, but that's what your Wit's End is for.

Thirster is great. Attack damage, lifesteal and more ad/ls per minion and champion kill!

Attack Damgae, More MageRes, and a nice shield for people like Karthus

Summoners

Many Different summoner Spells are in the game. As this is a Jungler's guide. There are only a few valid options.

***Note, I like my Damage spell set to D and my Flashy spell set to F. Seewhatididthere.jpg?

Be sure to give yourself a point in utility tree if you take any of the spells that it effects.

Smite - This is a needed for jungling. No exceptions.

Ghost is my favorite because it gives you a standing chance to catch any running enemies, and with your Bear, its a boss.

Flash is good for stealing baron and dragon, escaping and surprising. But I prefer Ghost.

Heal is meh. I dont like it at all. But eh, if you want it you can have it.

Eh, should be left to the support, but if you dont have one/they dont take it i suppose you can.

Jungling

So, this is a jungle Udyr guide. Well, I'm assuming you're wanting a route map? haha. Well, here let me break it down.

So we just spawned.

We're gonna level our R, Wingborne Storm, and then use it in the spawn. So, you shouldn't leave the base before your in Phoenix Stance and have full mana.

Buy your first two items, Regrowth Pendant and (1) Health Potion and head for wolves.

**NOTE**
Can also start with a Vampiric Scepter.

Both item sets work, I just prefer the Regrowth because when you're waiting in a bush for a gank, you've got a bit of regen getting you health. If you aren't concerned about early ganks, and want an early dragon, then take a scepter. With no ganks and a fast jungle route, you can have a wriggles at ~7:50. Base for your wriggles, buy (2) Health Potion Health Pots, and head there. Ward the top bush, tell your bot lane to be aware for mias. Take teh dragon and rock and roll!.

Anyway, back to the guide...

*****

So you're at wolves, in phoenix stance. Wolves spawn at 1:45 and blue spawns at 1:55.

You have ten seconds. Press R and auto attack the big wolf, kill the wolves in about 7 seconds. Head toward your blue and ask your mid/top to leash. Keep spamming your R as soon as it comes off cool down, and smite the golem at ~400 health.
**NOTE:
I'm well aware that smite does more damage than this. This ensures you the blue so nobody can steal it. I've had 0 smite steals from other junglers because everyone jumps the gun and expect more damage than is done.
**

After you kill the blue, level your W - Iron Mantle Use the Persistent of this ability wisely! It does heal you, ya know?

Head to wraiths, and go kill them. Start with R, and switch to turtle and auto attack. Count to four hits, and switch stances again. Head to the Lizard, and KILL IT WITH FIRE! No, but literally kill it with fire. Go in, Phoenix, Turtle, Phoenix, Turtle...until it's dead. Smite Might be up, might not. You shouldn't need it. if you fall below 200ish health, Pop that health pot of yours, or stay in turtle. Note: You can activate Iron Mantle if you spam your W, you'll keep your passive at three stacks, increasing your attack speed.

Level your Q Wilding Claw next, and head towards golems. Kill golems, Smite the big one if you need to, and head back to wraiths. It's the usual way to kill them, But it's important that IF YOU ARE LOW, STAY IN TURTLE FOR ALL 4 WRAITHS, YOU NEED AS MUCH HEALTH AS YOU CAN GET. After all of them are dead, level your E, Blazing Stampede and head up into mid lane's bush.

The way ganks work with Udyr.

Blazing Stampede -> Wilding Claw -> Wingborne Storm ->(switch instantly back to) Wilding Claw -> Blazing Stampede -> Wilding Claw

This will usually get you the kill with you and a teammate, depending on how over extended the enemy is.

Base if you want, if you do, buy your philosopher's stone and your Boots. If you've got enough gold, buy a Heart of Gold, or the health crystal
Successful or not, Head back into the Jungle, Hop into turtle, kill wolves, take blue take wraiths, take red then gank bot. That's pretty much it. Keep cycling through the jungle. get kills, get your carry fed.

General Play

Remember to ward the jungle, the river, dragon and baron when you can. Your Wriggle's Lantern is a free ward and you can buy a few more.

Just remember, as tough as you are, You're not invincible. Just take your time with everything. Don't start stupid fights, and be aware of your map. Ward the opponents jungle to take care of the enemy jungler.

Some Awesome things you can do as udyr.

You're fleeing from a fight. You and your carry are still alive and are being chased. Your carry is low and has a few persuers. Switch to bear. go and punch the one in front. Stunned. Punch the next one, Stunned and the next one, Stunned. Yes, you will most likely die. But, you will save the carry which is important, as little as you may think so. Remember this is a team game.

Baron is afraid of you. You can easily 1v1 him after a trinity force. The best opportunity to do this is late game when your team is pressuring turrets. Tell them what you're doing, and for them to keep pushing. Get your support to follow you. And TAKE DOWN THAT MOFO.

Dragon and Turrets aren't a big deal either. You can easily solo Dragon at 8 Minutes if you decide to take that route. (Read the Jungle section of this guide for more info). They both fall easily because of two things. First, Bridge Between. Your passive stacked with your Q, Wilding Claw eat turrets and dragons both alive.

Closing Information

Thank you again for reading my guide.

Remember to try udyr before you come in here commenting. He's a tough player to play, as easy as he seems.
