Spells:

LoL Summoner Spell: Exhaust

Exhaust

LoL Summoner Spell: Flash

Flash

Introduction

Hi and welcome to my LanePlank guide.

Gangplank is, in my opinion, the best melee carry in the game.
He can harass easily.
He has a free cleanse.
He has a damage/speed boost.
He has a global ulti.

He's just great.

Summoner Spells

I take Exhaust - I can turn the tides easily.
And I get Flash - Gank / Run away from ganks, etc.

Also good:
Ghost - Stack this with Raise Morale and Youmuu's Ghostblade for interesting results.
Ignite - Your passive does that in most cases, but this is good too.
Teleport - Get to lane faster. Why not?

Less viable:
Smite - You're not jungling in this build.
Clarity - No need for this.
Revive - Please....no.
Fortify - No.
Clairvoyance - Can do well with your ultimate, but enemies will run from that area once they see a Clairvoyance mark.
Heal - Remove Scurvy is better?
Cleanse - You have Remove Scurvy

Runes

Greater Quintessence of Critical Damage and Greater Mark of Critical Damage. Why?
Because it makes my attacks and Parrrley hurt more when I get more critical strike chance.
You can get ArPenetration and Critical Chance from alot of items, but you get Critical Damage only from Infinity Edge, one of the most expensive items in the game.

Greater Seal of Defense and Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist. You are squishy and you are focused alot. Why not? Ever had that moment ''if I only had 10 hp more, I would survive that requiem''? If you had more magic resist, you would have survived it.

Other choices are good too, but these give me much more game impact when playing Gangplank.

Abilities

Passive - Grog Soaked Blade - You do additional damage over time with your attacks, and you slow the enemies you hit. The slow stacks up to 4 times. Pretty neat for finishing people off and chasing. Parrrley counts as an attack too.

Q - Parrrley - Your bread and butter. This ability deals your attack damage + a base amount. It can also do critical hits and applies on-hit effects. Sheen proc? It's applied. Infinity Edge's additional critical damage? It's applied. This ability is wonderful. ^.^

W - Remove Scurvy - Your get-out-of-jail-free card. That Mordekaiser ulted you? Hit W to remove it. You got Exhausted? Pop W to remove it. Ignited? Pop W to remove it.
This is so great. You have a free cleanse and a self-heal in 1 ability. This will make Malzahars and Warwicks cry.

E - Raise Morale - Pretty neat chasing tool. Pop the active if you are chasing or doing a 1v1. The passive is also nice, helps farming and going through distance faster.

R (ultimate) - Cannon Barrage - Global range. That's all there is to say. Global range. This means if someone tries to escape, you just pop your ult in front of them, speed up and catch up with them. Does pretty neat damage too, but most smart people get out of it before it can do too much damage.

Laneplay

I start off with Brawler's Gloves and mana potions.
'Why this' you ask? Because I now have 10% critical chance and I can do alot of Parrrley damage if I'm doing a crit.
'Mana potions?' I have a healing source already, I just need mana for it.

If you think you can do First Blood, take Raise Morale. Activate in once you start fighting.
If you want to stay in lane, take Parrrley to harass your enemies. I suggest that you do the latter, so that you don't have to go back. Staying in lane and farming is essential for a carry like you.

Last hit as much as you can, harass with Parrrley, use Remove Scurvy if you get Ignited or you get any CC on yourself. If you think you and your lane friend have the upper hand in those 2v2 fights, pop Raise Morale and engage. Try to focus 1 target and CC the other back. This is even easier if you have someone like Alistar or Singed with you in lane.

Go back to base and finish your Zeal. If you have enough gold, buy Boots.

Get to level 6 and tell your allies to tell you if a 10hp enemy is running away, so you can use your ultimate to get a free kill.

Focus on last hitting and staying in your lane. Gank when you see the possibility. Don't get out of your lane if it's not for ganking or warding. You are LanePlank, and you need to stay in lane and farming so that people in lategame say: ''wtf no one feeded gp and he is so powerful.''

Finish your Zeal into a Phantom Dancer as soon as possible. This will boost your stats incredibly. Finish your boots into Mercury's Treads if they have at least 3 powerful stuns / slows / snares. If they have low CC and you think you are having an easy game, get Berserker's Greaves. Possible choices are Ninja Tabi and Mobility Boots. Ionian Boots of Lucidity can be also good.

Next, you will build The Brutalizer and finish it into Youmuu's Ghostblade. Combine the ghostblade with Raise Morale for interesting stats.

Mid-late game

Now, you need some damage, as your Raise Morale doesn't give you the damage advantage anymore, your enemies can catch up with your stats. Save your gold to get 1650 to get that B. F. Sword. Farm up to that 12% lifesteal and finish this into Bloodthirster.

You should engage any 1v1 you can, as you can eat almost anyone with your damage. Just pop Raise Morale, use your ghostblade once you start attacking them, and watch their life bar disappear. If they attempt to run away with low health, hit them with Parrrley to finish them off.

Now comes your most important item: the Infinity Edge. Your Parrrley will hit for huge damage now when it crits. (You should have around 70% crit chance after I.E.)

In teamfights, you can play 2 roles. You can go in right after the tank to lay waste upon them, just make sure to go through the bush so they don't notice you too soon to focus you. If they CC you: just use your W.
You can also go in after the teamfight to get kills more easily, but you will have no teammates alive. (Their fight will be 4v5.)

As the end of the game is coming, people will realize that you are the biggest threat. They will start focusing you, as you are very squishy. You now go build your Frozen Mallet, it will boost your health greatly. You can also swap Mallet for Trinity Force if you have a great score, or just another Bloodthirster if you are roflstomping their team and getting triple kills all the time.

With your items full, get oracle + 3x elixirs as often as you can to gain advantage against your foes.

You are the best melee carry in the game if played properly. You will carry your team to victory with ease. Try to setup your team so that they can get items that can support you. ( Zeke's Harbinger, get all the shields from your team on yourself, etc.)

Most games don't last much longer than the time when you finish Bloodthirster, but if they do, follow this build. You can swap that Frozen Mallet for a Banshee's Veil if you feel that casters are doing most damage to you.

I also strongly advise that someone on your team gets Zeke's Harbinger. In teamfights, you will have up to 45% lifesteal, and as you do alot of critical hits in this build, you will regenerate your HP from zero back to full in a matter of 2-3 seconds.
And NEVER forget to activate your Ghostblade! It's your steroid move that gives huge offensive capabilities when combined with Raise Morale.
